Happy Birthday to us!!!

64

Julia age 17 I can't belive that next Friday QVC will be 17 years old! It is thanks to you guys at home that we are still here and that we have gone from strength to strength, so thankyou.

So much has changed over the years and who would have thought that home shopping would be the phenomenon that it is. In the early days we didn't have a website or online shopping… we didn't even have QCut for speedy ordering. It has been a fantastic journey and one that I am so proud to have been a part of.

I remember a time when our buyers had a hugely difficult time 'persuading' brands that they wanted to come onto QVC… now their job is difficult in a different way as they are constantly inundated with people wanting to sell their product range on QVC. Having had the likes of Joan Rivers, Liz Earle and Butler and Wilson for so many years I'm sure has been beneficial in attracting new brands.

Speaking of Liz Earle, that is just one of the fabulous Today's Special Values over our Birthday Weekend. We also have Honora Pearls with the lovely Ralph Rossini, and a snuggly Emu boots TSV. Not only brilliant TSVs but Birthday Weekend Prices to look forward to as well.

For those of you who have been with us from the start I wonder if you remember the first ever 'on air' item????

Speak soon,
Julia xx

    Hi Julia
I cant believe its 17 years, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember watching one of the earliest shows, and just couldnt get my head round the whole thing! It just seemed odd to buy things that you could only see on telly, and someone trying to describe them!!! Changed days eh!! I am hooked lol.
I love all the beauty days, and the jewellery shows are fantastic.
As you know, I cant get out and about a lot of the time. QVC is not just a convenience for me, its a neccessity. I just love it, that i can get more for my money, which means i can be more generous when im giving gifts etc. No way would I have been able to get my girlfriends 2 or 3 L,Occitane items at a time, or use Elemis and Liz Earle as my everyday beauty products, if i had to buy them on the high street.
I will be tuning in for the birthday celebrations. Im sure there will be many birthday cakes around for the weekend!!!!
    Lots of love Julia

    Hi Julia
HAPPY BIRTHDAY QVC. Wow where did the time go 17years. I opened my account with QVC on the 3rd of November 1993, but I have been watching from day one. The first ever on air item, was it a clock radio? I am not sure!!. I do remember the first time QVC had diamonique, trying to get the ring I wanted, with no Q Cut or website, it sold out 3 times before I managed to get through and order it.
And the Butler and wilson shows, ringing so early in the show and asking; I want that earring that Ali is wearing so not to miss out, it was fun. My husband asked me the other day if I can till how many items I bought from QVC in 17 years, God knows about a thousand or more? Where my life will be without QVC.
All the best for another 17 and more years to come.
    Much love.
    Magda.

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to QVC! I only discovered you about 15 months ago when our TV signal was switched off and we went digital, but I think I’ve made up for the missed years shopping by the amount I’ve crammed in since!! All joking apart, I want to say thank you to all at QVC, not just to you presenters who do such a wonderful job making us feel part of the wider QVC family, but to all those behind the scenes at the studios, the buyers, the packers and the incredibly patient and wonderful team in Liverpool manning the phones for whom nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile.
As someone who is housebound, QVC has opened up a whole new world to me. My bank manager might be on the pills now as a result, but I’m not exaggerating to say that QVC has changed my life. I had no access before to many of the things I can now buy on QVC. I’ve now discovered my 12 MUST HAVES … Easiyo, Kipling, SBC, Decleor, Philosophy, Northern Nights, Leighton Denny, Honora Pearls, Diamonique, Bare Escentuals, Yankee Candles and Charlie Bears! And various other odds and ends, too! (You can see why my bank manager is suffering!!)
Watching the various shows has not only entertained me and brought me company, day and night, but I’ve also learned so much about all manner of things I would never have come across before. Even if it’s something I am not actually buying myself, it is fascinating listening to the wide range of experts who are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their particular topic.
So I wish you all a great birthday and many more years bringing us such a superb range of quality items, offering such great service and making us feel included and more than just a customer.
By the way, I didn’t catch up with your blog until today, so apologies for not replying sooner about your school uniform and the Kipling TSV! I got the Maya Blue because I love collecting different styles and colours – and especially furry monkeys! – so I usually plump first for those that are done especially for QVC. And I wasn’t just being kind – you did look cute in the uniform!
Have a fabulous birthday weekend – I’m so looking forward to Ralph!!
    Best wishes,
    Margaret

I always know how old QVC is Julia, because I first watched it when babysitting my new grandson for the first time, and he’s now 17 of course and like QVC he’s grown….to 6ft 3ins! I wanted to buy a ring , but was too nervous about this strange new shopping method. However when the proud parents returned home, my son picked up the phone, made my order, and ‘joined’ me to a very happy shopping future.

Thanks to everyone at QVC and keep up the good work and I look forward to many more happy hours of shopping!

You especially but everyone else too deserves our thanks for all their hard work over the last 17 years in making QVC the icon it now is. I am coming to QVC again on 18th OCtober to preview the new Diamonique. Looking forward to it. Met the gorgeous Dale last time, what a really nice gentleman.

    Hi again Julia.
Just read the blog from Margaret. I totally agree, the presenters are all amazing, well informed, warm, and fun to watch, but the behind the scenes people should get a BIG SHOUT OUT TOO! PLEEEAAAASSSSE pass on our good wishes to ALL of them too. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the Liverpool guys, they are always so polite and helpful, and if there is a fault with a product, they are so apologetic. You just dont get that kind of service ANYWHERE these days.
I do feel sorry for Margarets poor bank manager though, he possibly knows mine!!! Maybe a wee xmas gift (from QVC of course) might make him feel a whole lot better!!! LOL.

    Hi Julia
Congratulations and Happy Birthday to QVC and to you for your 17 years as a presenter on the No 1 shopping channel!!
I love the picture of you at 17, it’s a pity you don’t still have the (maxi) dress, because it would be back in fashion and now with your weight loss you’d probably still get in it!
Haven’t been with you since the start, just some 10+ years, but like many others have spent an absolute fortune and can remember my very first purchase…. a Decleor TSV, which was in a bright yellow bag and contained: cleanser, toner, neroli oil, hydra floral, algeromes, systeme corps, body scrub and a large tube of self tan all for the pricely sum of £27 or was it £24? Whichever it was, the value was outstanding!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend and if Liz Earle’s TSV is the new shampoo and conditioner…. it’s to die for, 5*+++++! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and my very fine, oily, highlighted hair has never looked, nor felt so bright, light and full of volume, even the next morning! I got Chris to try it and had to buy him a tube of his own, there’s no way he was getting mine!

I guess I haven’t changed that much from a distance BUT up close is a different story with the unavoidable march of time.
Enjoy your Liz Earle day on Saturday

    Hello Amelia
So pleased you still get pleasure out of your gold and amber ring. My first purchase was a rotating dial cat and mouse watch. I wonder if anyone else still has theirs?
    Thanks for the birthday wishes

    Hi Emily
Great to hear you are still watching QVC after all this time. And how fab that we still do Kirks Folly as a range – isn’t Jennifer Kirk brilliant!
You are not alone in the length of wait before your first purchase but as you say once you have the confidence in the quality there is no looking back
    Enjoy our Birthday

    Hi Julia
Just to say hi and happy birthday to QVC. I have been busy taking advantage of the great birthday week prices. I have treated myself to a fantastic Liz Earle collection on TSV and also the Emu boots that you have just been presenting. You are looking gorgeous as usual. Would you mind telling me where you got the lovely dress you were wearing. Its so lovely and colourful. larainex

    Hello Laraine
Good to hear you’ve been treating yourself. Thanks for the compliment – the dress is from River Island, not that old but pre summer so don’t know if they will still have them, but give it a go.

Hi Julia , finally I get round to posting on your blog :). I have followed Qvc for 15 years, time just flies by :)
I find watching Qvc great therapy as I suffer from bipolar and don’t go out much :(
I especially love all the skincare and make up shows also crafting as I’m a card maker .
Just getting back into my Pilates after nearly 2 years, I’m taking it slowly as my back has been very sore for months and it was watching you has encouraged me to get back to it .
Thank you Julia , I feel I know you and Alison Young and Marjolen personally Lol , hugs Marlou x
