What a week this has been for music on QVC! On Tuesday I was chatting to the new girl band 'Wonderland' who came in to sing some tracks from their debut album of the same name.
In case some of you haven't heard of them, they are brought to us by none other than Louis Walsh of X factor fame and Kian Egan from Westlife.
The girls are the result of a talent search in Ireland back in 2008 and they have spent their time since then writing, touring with Westlife, Boyzone and Olly Murs and getting to know each other before they launched their debut album.
Singing live in studio it was easy to hear that they all have really great voices, each with their own individual style and sound that blend into great harmonies.
It's so good to see a band that has not been manufactured by the pop machine to churn out endless generic songs but rather a group that has been put together based on true talent and ability. And they were all lovely, well-mannered girls who literally said please and thank you anytime they wanted anything. In my book manners go a long way.
I was impressed!
Having spent years working on Broadway and having received a Tony nomination for one of his roles, he certainly knows about singing and performing. I asked him if he felt the pressure for his album to succeed based on the huge success of Glee, but he said that he wasn't really going to put that pressure on himself he just wanted to make an album that he hoped people would like.
It's an eclectic mix of sounds, from Broadway-esque tunes, to rock ballads to mellow, soulful and heartfelt songs. There are duets with music legends like Sting, Sir Elton John and Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
All in all it has a summer-time vibe to the album and I enjoyed listening to. But don't just take my word for it!
Wonderland are currently touring the country supporting Olly Murs and Matthew Morrison will be performing an exclusive little gig here in London on 13th June.
Just a heads up to let you know that the 11-year-old operatic singing sensation and America's Got Talent finalist, Jackie Evancho will be here at QVC next week. I will be meeting her and asking her all about appearing on America's Got Talent, her incredible vocal ability and how life has changed for her.
Be sure to tune in.
