Mother’s Day (and possible cat #4!)

Catherine Huntley and her mother Hi everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

This Mother's Day was a particularly poignant one with the sad passing of Jade Goody. I think it made so many of us truly thankful for what we have and even more determined to enjoy each other.

BabybelleWell, I had a lovely weekend with my mum (left). We just spent lots of time chatting, relaxing, laughing and playing with her fab cat, Babybelle (right)!

She is a Maine Coon cat but desperately needed a loving home as she was not suitable to be a 'show cat' as she has slightly deformed legs. They are really short and she has the most amazing wiggle when she walks, to my mind it makes her all the more rare and special and rather like a 'sausage' cat if there were a feline version of the famed pooch.

My mum lives several hours away and, as she has a few health issues, I really don't like her being there with no family around, so we are looking at a perfect place 20 minutes from me but they don't allow pets.

Yours truly does allow pets, cats in particular! So, we may soon have a new addition to the Huntley household! I know, I know but I promise I'll stop at four cats…

What did you do for Mother's Day? Have you got any special or funny stories about your mothers?

I look forward to reading your comments.

Love Catherine xx

    Hi Catherine,
I agree that it has made us appreciate what we have after the passing of Jade….
As a new mummy to triplets i just cannot imagine what she would have been going through.. Hopefully I might see you at the race for life – are you doing it at Battersea Park as that is where i am doing mine.
Did it last year and was pregnant with the triplets then and i walked (obviously) and loads of people do so it will be fine….
    Take care Denise

    Hi Denise,
Congratulations to you! Triplets! How exciting and wonderful.
I’m actually doing my bit at Ardingly so won’t see you this time but perhaps the next one, you never know. Have a wonderful time. Battersea Park is so beautiful, isn’t it? We’ll be waving from across the road at QVC Towers!
All the best to you & your lovely family.
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Catherine.
You should definitely adopt that Maine Coon as they are fantastic cats. I have a 13 year old blue tabby named Chester who is a wonderful character.
It is very easy to get hooked on Maine Coons, they are very intelligent and affectionate and they make lovely chirping and beeping noises at you.
I hope your little Russian Blue boy is doing well – I had a Russian Blue/British Blue crossbreed many years ago, who was also a lovely cat.
    Best Wishes, Nade.

    Well done Denise,
My friend has just had 1 baby and she is finding it hard.
whats this about another cat? I started out like that with dogs and now have 11 4 are my daughters and 1 my sons but as they do not have there own place at moment mum is a good dog sitter. Rely like your programs you have a natural flare for presenting.
My daughter and l followed Jade in her claim to fame from the big brother house and on up. My husband died when my daughter was 11 and my son 13 very difficult ages for them to cope with. But some how we all worked together and even 11 years later things are still very painful. Purrrrrrrrrr to your cats.

Nadine, thanks for your comments. You’ll be thrilled to hear that I’m now mummy to a beautifully individual Maine Coon kitty! Keep an eye on the blog for more detailed news on that & piccies. Nice to hear about your cats, really feels like we have a little online cat club here, which is lovely.
Christine, 11 dogs?? Wowee! I have to control myself or I’ll end up with 11 cats one day, too. Hee hee. I get so much from my sweet ‘fabulous four’.
I’m so sorry for you & your family having to go through losing your husband. It sounds as though you are a very close family and I’m sure, although it can never compensate for your loss, it’s a constant source of comfort.
I wish you lots of love and, as dogs don’t purrr, I’ll just throw some virtual sticks for them, all eleven!

    Hi again Catherine,
So pleased that you decided to adopt Babybelle and I will look forward to seeing more pictures of her. My Maine Coon, Chester has a new best friend – a 15 week old Pyrenean Mountain dog puppy named Finn. They share a bowl of porridge every morning!
We already have two adult Pyreneans, so I think the next addition will be another Maine Coon – possibly a brown tabby like your lovely girl…
Lots of love to you and furry friends, Nade xxx

Hi Catherine great to hear from a fellow cat lover. I went into hospital as of now last year as am emergency, and came out just over 6 weeks later , minus a leg and no cats in my house. My sister made it a house overnight. All she left was my aged dog [she nearly took her away]. The house isn’t a home without my 8 furbabies [only just found out who took them].I’m now looking for a special puss to share my love and my pillow. Been house checked & okay’d by the local cat care but still no puss 6 months on [not by my choice], so am checking local sites for a special furry friend. Was chuffed to hear you are once again opening your heart and home to a waif. Keep up the good work but remember 3…….well maybe there’s room for one more…..
