I have really enjoyed reading about the day itself, your lives, your children, and of course your mothers!
Interesting how many of us feel the same way about our daughters, and how those of us with more than one child, I wondered initially if we could ever love another child as much as our first…
Of course we all do, and even though as with my children, they are all incredibly different, I love them all equally.
Although I worked both ends of last week, I did have Wednesday off, and Sam and Jack drove down to see us, so that we could go out for supper to celebrate Sam's 24th birthday. As the actual day coincided with Mother's Day, and he was planning a 'heavy' night out on Saturday, we agreed it would be best to celebrate early, and celebrate we did!
Sam drove us into Windsor, and had decided on the restaurant, and so we headed off to Gourmet Burger! By jingo they certainly know how to dress up a burger! The boys and Colin had something called a Taxi Driver, which was so large I think you could probably have seated five people in it and demanded a tip!
I chose a lamb burger without the bun (I had sweet potato wedges instead) and it was delicious.
I think the boys get a little tired of me trying to make photographic memories of the rare occasions we are together, but I did manage to snap these… they were both on great form, and came back to stay the night which was lovely. As you can see by the photo though, boys will be boys!
I knew that I wouldn't be seeing either of them on Mother's Day as in their own words, they would be 'hanging', but Lucy was heading to us for lunch and had planned to treat me to a meal.
However when I found out how much it was to be, it was far too expensive, and so I decided to cook a roast for us instead 🙂
I have to be honest and say I bought everything pre-prepared, so that all I had to do was put it in the oven, and it was delicious.
We have inherited a built in coffee machine, which although Jack spent some time showing me how it works, I may well need to call on Claire Sutton's Dan who is the 'Coffee King' to remind me!
I did speak to my mum who was spending her day with my sister Jenny and her two daughters Emily and Verity.
I'd bought mum a Lola Rose necklace which she loved, so a successful day all round I felt 🙂
Thanks to all those of you who tweeted me over the last few days about my hair! I have to thank Michael from Ojon for the fabulous cut and blow dry… I have to admit to being a little anxious about having it cut even the tiniest bit, as apart from trimming the top and my fringe, the rest hasn't been touched since it grew back. However, it looked so much better afterwards I was thrilled. Amazing too that it naturally fell into the style I used to have before I lost it all which made me a little bit teary if I'm honest 🙂
Perfect timing to have a bit of a tidy up though, as this morning I am being whisked off to a secret destination for two days with my man, who has arranged something special for my birthday! I have been told to pack two evening dresses, warm clothes too, walking shoes, heels, bikini, thick socks and a hat!!! I think the last three are to throw me off the scent!
I have absolutely no idea what has been planned, but I do know that my children are in cahoots, and that I will be seeing all three of them on Saturday to continue the celebrations! If you could go anywhere or do anything for your birthday, what or where would it be?
Have a think, and let me know, and we can compare notes! 🙂
Stay warm, and enjoy the weekend, and I'll look forward to hearing from you, with my love, Ali xxx
