The lovely thing about today's event is that even if you're a mother, you can treat your daughter as a thank you, as we've got a great mix of shows for you throughout the day.
With Mally beauty, Lily O'Brien chocolates, Lola Rose jewellery and Michele Hope fashion to give you a little taster of the day, we're sure you'll find something as a little gesture of thanks for your Mum or Daughter.
As Lola Rose is our fab Today's Special Value, our lovely guest Nikki wanted to share more about how her mum and grandmother have inspired her…
"Family is really important to me. My Mum & Grandma Lola have always been a huge inspiration to me in all areas of my life. In fact, it was my Grandma Lola’s beautiful vintage tapestry jewel box that inspired me to bring a jewellery box TSV to QVC.
I remember that feeling of wonder as a girl when I was allowed to delve into the treasure trove of gorgeous pieces of jewellery and keepsakes that Grandma Lola kept. I would ask her where they came from and who bought them for her and would sit for hours in her bedroom trying them on and dressing up. She always said a pretty jewellery box finished off a dressing table perfectly.
I am lucky enough to have one of each of the designs I am bringing to you today and I love how pretty they look but more importantly I love how useful they are. I am keeping everything in them from my jewellery to bits of everyday make-up and of course a photo of my two gorgeous boys! I have dedicated another one to all my hair bobbles and grips as it drives me mad that I can never find one when I need them – these boxes are actually helping to organise me! My Mum, who is wonderfully glamorous, really helped spur me on in the early days. Now I can repay the favour and hopefully inspire her!
I remember our frequent shopping trips, where we would spend all day trawling the shops… she has taught me the art of how to do it for sure! If my dad was home when we returned, we would leave the shopping in the car until it was safe to bring in. A bit naughty really but I guess what he didn’t know didn’t hurt? She would sit endlessly whilst I tried on different outfits and of course, you can always trust your mum to tell you if you bum looks big in something… the best shopping partner in the world.
Now I adore taking her shopping and helping her pick out things and spurring her on to be brave with colour and patterns. However, recently with this freezing weather I know she has been loving lounging around at home in Lola’s jersey pyjamas to keep her warm. She also seems to have picked up my habit of always having a scarf on to finish her outfit.
Becoming a Mum has changed my world beyond my wildest expectations. After Freddie was born, I realised just how amazing the bond between a mother and child is and I actually can’t believe how it is possible to love someone as much as I do with both Freddie and Oscar.
Before Oscar was born, 7 weeks ago, I did wonder how I would cope with 3 children (I say 3 as Lola Rose is almost like my first born!) It has been exhausting but so rewarding. Juggling Fred, Oscar and Lola is no mean feat, but when I see the smile on Fred’s face as I walk through the door and smell that one of a kind smell of a newborn baby, my life feels complete (sorry, and when I see Justin!!) And when I see someone wearing a piece of Lola whilst walking down the street, or someone wearing a Lola scarf outside the school gates, I quietly smile to myself as that is also such a proud moment for me and makes all those long days and late nights so worthwhile.
This year I am going to allow myself to be utterly spoilt on Mother’s Day as I feel this year I deserve it! What would this include you may ask, SLEEP… AND LOTS OF IT!
Have a wonderful day whatever you do, but remember to allow yourself to be spoilt rotten or, you know me, use it as another excuse to spoil yourself. Happy Mother’s Day!" Nikki x
