More celebrations

Firstly, I hope you enjoyed the Butler & Wilson 20th Anniversary shows as much as I did. There was a slight change to the plan as Charlie was unable to come in to QVC on Monday. I was happy to step into his shoes and do both the shows on Monday, which meant that in the end I did three out of the four anniversary shows with Simon. It gave me the chance to see the lovely montage of old clips from the past twenty years of shows, an extra time. If you missed it you can view it here.

There were certainly some interesting hairstyles down the years and I don’t just mean me!! We were trying to remember when the beautiful Ali joined our team. The best guess was approximately ten years ago although she has of course had two short breaks for the births of her two gorgeous children.

B&W shop

Those of you who’ve been with B&W throughout will probably recall that one of our fitness guests, Caroline Sandry, used to be our regular model before Ali and another stunner, Rene. This photo of Simon, Ali and I outside his shop on South Molton street, on Vogue’s Night Out five years ago, is my favourite photo with him of all time.

As well as being Simon’s anniversary with us it was also his birthday last Sunday. Ali made these lovely little biscuits, themed to things important in Simon’s life … clever girl. Something tells me they will never be eaten!!

Simon very generously gave me the beautiful flowers that QVC presented him with as he said it was my 20th anniversary too.

Someone else celebrating a birthday this month is my other half Chris. His birthday is on Sunday and we were hoping to go down to Bath to watch a football tournament that our son, Daniel’s, young Swans are playing in. Unfortunately, our neighbour, who usually feeds our cats while we are away, already had plans for this weekend so I don’t think we will be able to go.

Maybe it’s a good thing as I really need to get on with some more writing for the sequel of ‘Life’s a Beach and Then…’. I’m on around 45,000 words, so just another 30,000 or so in the next three weeks!!

Incidentally, the QVC stock of signed copies of my book, 705211, is almost sold out but they will be ordering some more soon. Thanks to everyone who has bought it and left lovely comments on here, and also for helping me raise money for the charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, soon to be changing their name to Bloodwise.

Must dash as I am unexpectedly doing the 2pm Honora show today with Ralph Rossini and do remember to join me for the last in the current series of Spotlight on Jewellery at 6pm, as well as Fashion on Friday at 5pm … busy, busy , busy!!

Have a fab Bank Holiday weekend and let’s hope for some better weather than of late. This picture was taken on Wednesday just before the lane outside my house turned into a river. Surely this must be one of the wettest Augusts on record.

Much love,

Julia xx

    Hi Julia,
I really enjoyed the Butler and Wilson Anniversary shows recently. The Welsh Flag brooch arrived today and it is lovely. I have been trying to get hold of it for quite a while now as the Welsh flag had been out of stock for ages. I even went on wait list to no avail. Anyway I’m a happy bunny now that I’ve got it. I purchased the Dragon brooch where he’s waving the Welsh flag a while ago and always get comments when I wear it. I was debating about trying to call in when the shows were on but I “chickened out ” this time. I did try when I bought the dragon brooch if you remember but they couldn’t put me through.
We were looking forward to watching the rugby tomorrow but unfortunately its on Sky Sport which we don’t have! So I’m a bit peeved by that ! Never mind, at least they are showing the World Cup on terrestrial T.V. this time round.
We have had some sunshine in between the horrid rain. Today and yesterday turned out quite warm. By the way I heard you say that it always rains in Wales!! However it is a known fact that it rains far more in Scotland!! LOL. Good job we Welsh have a sense of humour.
Anyway I’ve got my brooches to wear to support my home team now. Can’t wait.
Well take care, best wishes Tina S. x

      Hi Tina
I’m so pleased you managed to get your Welsh flag brooch – they are lovely aren’t they. I see your football team did well yesterday – wrong shaped ball for you, but you can still feel proud!
I was baseing my comment about always raining in Swansea on what a lady who comes from there told me. She said it was the wettest place in the UK! It doesn’t always rain when I visit Daniel – just usually!
That said I am going next week so hoping for a bit of sunshine
      Good luck in the rugby

    Hi Julia,
I’m writing again as my other reply seems to have got lost unless there is a delay in the reply, in which case please forgive the repeating of my reply!!!
I really enjoyed the B&W shows last week and was so pleased to order the Welsh flag brooch at long last as it had sold out a while ago. I shall be wearing mine with pride when the Rugby World Cup starts in September. It was a lovely gesture by Simon when he gave you that beautiful bouquet. It brought a tear to my eyes.
Well it’s bank holiday Monday and it has actually stopped raining (for a minute) ! The weather should improve next week as the kids are back in school. We have had a terrible summer but hopefully we may get a nicer September. We live in hope, LOL.
    Best wishes, Tina S.
