I write this after a fabulous weekend during which I got very little sleep but had the most wonderful time. Hence, I’m starting this week rather exhausted, but very happy! First, after three months of training, Saturday was finally Moonwalk night. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a marathon (or half-marathon) held at night, during which you power walk through the streets of London in a decorated bra, in aid of breast cancer charities.
We had an absolutely fantastic team – fellow presenters Kathy Tayler, Debbie Flint and Alison Keenan were going to stop at the half marathon point but instead did an amazing 18 miles, while myself, Ultrasun’s Abi Cleeve, Natalie from our promotions department and one of our former producers Danielle did the full 26.2 miles (I mention the “point 2” because that was probably the hardest bit… our legs were virtually falling off at that stage!).
It was an incredible night – 15,000 people, mostly women – walking along a route which took us from Clapham Common past some of London’s most famous landmarks, from Big Ben to the Tower of London, starting before midnight and ending after the sun had risen on the Sunday morning. It was a long, cold night, and we were glad of the space blankets and plastic ponchos provided by organisers Walk The Walk, which we put on over the sparkly bras in the wee small hours. But when we reached that finish line, all the shivering, lack of sleep and aching legs were worth it.
We had hoped to raise £1,000, but as I write donations have topped £2,000 and are still coming in. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated, sent us kind messages and supported us. We are planning to take part in something even bigger next year – watch this space! Our lovely cameraman Mark Cain spent the evening filming us along the route (and ended up walking a large chunk of it with us!) Here is the video he produced, which gives you a taste of what a great night it was.

I managed to get just two hours sleep on Sunday, before getting up again and heading out with some colleagues to support our lovely friend Lulu, who is currently on tour with her new album and was performing in the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane. It was the most fantastic night – her voice is just astonishing, and her energy on stage infectious. By the end we were all on our feet, dancing and singing along, and then popped backstage to congratulate her and share a few drinks. Lots of photos were taken but I love this one… it’s rare that a group of us presenters get to go out together, so it was a great end to a super weekend.
By the way, if you haven’t heard Lulu’s album Making Life Rhyme, I thoroughly recommend it! Some superb tracks – the woman is a legend, and we are all so delighted that she’s part of our QVC family.
I’m off to catch up on some sleep – have a great week!
