Moonlighting

8

As I wrote that title I had a little flashback to the good old days of Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd, do you remember watching it? It was one of our favourites! For me though, it was a different type of moonlighting this last week. I was working as chief make-up artist on The Snow Queen in Stratford upon Avon and it was a ball!

It was a four-show run with all under 18s which was a little like herding cats at times but they put in lots of hours of hard work and created a tremendous performance. I don’t know how I would have done the Snow Queen’s hair without my Percy and Reed hairspray; or my quick three second defrosting of Kai between walking off stage and walking straight back on again without Judith Williams Rose Water! I also ended up using a wet brush on Tarte Amazon Clay Black Eyeshadow to create The Snow Queen’s heavy black eye make-up, as stage make up felt really uncomfortable for her; I used Lulu’s Strike a Pose hair spray to create spiky bird like wisps for “Crow”… such fun!!

Come Sunday, when the show was over and cleared up, we were all absolutely exhausted! I’m always an early bird, however I could barely walk for the first couple of hours of the day and even now am still aching! I didn’t realise how physical doing make-up is… mind you I think it was the cat herding that did it! That and throwing in work and Beely’s birthday in the mix!

For those of you who have been watching long enough, my daughter became a teenager last week to add the fun and games which meant baking 50 cupcakes for the cast, as well as her birthday cake for at home. I lost count of how many pats of butter and boxes of icing sugar I used!

Anyway, after a crazy week and eventually surfacing on Sunday, I had a little ride on Beth and we even managed to drag ourselves along to the local firework display which was absolutely wonderful with the best weather for it; clear skies, crisp but not too cold, just what the doctor ordered for us walking zombies!

So with winter definitely underway and birthdays pretty much behind us, next stop is Christmas! I’m doing my planning this week as well as looking forward to our jewellery event on Friday “The Magic of Jewellery” with everything on Easy Pay instalments too!).

Hope to catch up with you soon,

Much love

Pipa x
