In the early days of QVC I used to find it quite strange talking about Christmas when the sun was out, the kids had only just broken up from school and we are all getting ready for our summer holidays, but I honestly cannot wait for Monday and all the Christmas festivities we have lined up.
Christmas in July just happens to be one of my favourite events on the QVC calendar, and always falls on the 25th of July of course! It has become quite a tradition at QVC Towers, and is greeted with much enthusiasm. The event is exactly halfway to Christmas Day, which means as of next Monday there are just 155 sleeps left until Christmas Day!
On Monday July 25th there will be 24 hours dedicated to the biggest day in December, and once you get your head around it, it becomes an invaluable part of your Christmas planning. There will be everything you need to get your home looking festive, and your preparations and planning underway. It’s a brilliant way to spread the cost of Christmas by taking advantage of some superb price reductions and early bird offers.
I’ve picked a couple of my personal favourite hours to tune into throughout the day starting at 10am with Simon Biagi and A Homemade Christmas. If you are planning to make a lot of your own cards and decorations this year, you’ll know that the sooner you start the better. I love homemade cards, I think they are so satisfying to make, and people really appreciate them – plus card-making is a great task to save for the kids on those rainy days in the summer holidays.
My two used to love getting the craft box out when they were little, and we’d amuse ourselves for hours making homemade cards for our special family members for Christmas. At 11am we’ve got Deck the Halls with Kathy Tayler, so lots of gorgeous Christmas decorations are up for grabs there, and then Miceal Murphy has a premiere hour of all things Disney at 2pm.
The evening continues getting more and more festive every hour with a two hour food fest with Dale and Andi Peters from 5-7pm and rounding off with one of my favourite hours, Yankee Candles at 11pm.
You may be thinking, what am I bringing you? Well, I have a real treat for you before all of those lovely offerings, as I’m launching Churchill’s biscuits at Midnight!
Now I love Churchill’s, they are an iconic British brand that have been making luxurious sweets and biscuits for the last 25 years and their biscuits just melt in your mouth, putting all other biscuits to shame.
The Churchill’s tins are also so collectable, real works of art. I never throw mine away – in fact I’ve taken a quick pic of my collection that I use for all sorts of things, currently one is a sewing tin, another a first aid box, and one is full of dog treats!
The Today’s Special Value collection tins are all about the fairground, with a Helter Skelter tin and a Big Wheel tin, one with mouth-watering shortbread and the other with sumptuous little round biscuits.
The best before dates last beyond the Christmas season and way into next year although if you plan to save them, then definitely don’t try them because one is never enough! My tins are already half gone as they are perfect little treat with that quick cuppa, especially if someone pops in unexpectedly, guests always comment on how delicious the biscuits are!
Now, talking about delicious, if you are seeking delicious skin this summer look out for the Liz Earle Today’s Special Value offer, launching with me on Friday night and running all day on Saturday. The collection is called ‘Invigorate Your Senses’ and contains five hero products, including a limited edition Grapefruit & Patchouli Cleanse & Polish that smells good enough to eat!
So definitely lots to look forward to and in the meantime, merry halfway Christmas!
