To celebrate the launch of the QVC Beauty Channel, we commissioned a special beauty-based survey – and would you believe that a whopping 41% of women in the UK haven't received a single compliment in the last 12 months?
We thought it was about time to address the balance, so we're launching 'The World's Biggest Compliment' campaign and we've appointed the very first 'QVC Complimentor'. He's Bryan Lacey, a Yorkshire comedian and international charmer!
Bryan will be giving away 100,000 free compliments online via qvcuk.com/qvcbeauty, and also on the streets of London from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, from Monday 1st November.
We caught up with Bryan to find out more about his unique new role as an ambassador for happiness…
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I've been performing since I was 13 so I feel really at home in front of an audience, entertaining people. Stand up is a particular passion of mine as it's both scary and challenging at the same time. I've performed at a real variety of gigs – everything from Bestival to the Edinburgh Festival.
On a personal level, I like to eat, drink (in moderation for any young people reading this) and to be merry! I'm a bit of cheeky Northerner who likes to make people smile by playing the fool!
How would you describe your comedian style?
I show the audience the world as I see it and how it sees me through silly stories, gags and the odd song!
Why did you decide to get involved with our Beauty Channel campaign?
When the QVC Beauty Channel was looking for somebody to help launch it they Googled 'beautiful' and obviously my picture and details came up… the rest is history.
I loved the idea of 'The World's Biggest Compliment Campaign', to help launch the channel. It's a great idea to get people feeling good about themselves and revive the art of complimenting – the world would be a better place if we were all a bit nicer to each other.
What do you think about QVC's new Beauty Channel?
I think it's beautiful! It's one if the most stunning channels to watch and they have scientifically proved that if you watch it for up to five hours a day you'll become 32.4% more beautiful. Fact!
In all seriousness, the idea of having one place for all things beauty is brilliant – no more traipsing round the shops trying to find everything in different places!
Give us a compliment and tell us a joke!
I'll do both in one! You are beautiful and they do say 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. If that's true how come more bee keepers aren't super models!?
To apply for a compliment, visit qvcuk.com/qvcbeauty and remember to keep an eye out for Bryan on the streets of London all this week.
The new QVC Beauty Channel is available on Freesat channel 816, Sky channel 658 and online.
