May Jewellery Month: Trend on Trial

We’re getting ready for a special month of Jewellery on QVC in May.

The month is kicking off with the latest Today’s Special Value offer from Links of London on a slightly updated version of the Sweetie Friendship bracelet we brought you last year – at the same great price, and now in two new colours.

We’ve put together a quick video explaining what you can expect to see throughout the month:

Central to the month are four hot jewellery trends that have been identified by our expert buyers with assistance from blogger Alex Stedman of The Frugality, each of which we’ll be casting particular focus on at points throughout May – Layered Neckwear, Irregular Earrings, Eclectic Rings and Stacked Wristwear. And whether your tastes are for the fashionable or the fine, the subtle or the statement, we’ve got pieces to suit your style and your pocket.

We asked four members of our Media Operations team to put one of the trends through their paces. Here’s how they got on…

“I often forget to wear jewellery, so I particularly loved the pieces I picked out for the Eclectic Rings trend; believe it or not they’re only two rings, but the multiple bands make it look like I’ve really taken time to accessorise my look.

“I found them a really easy way of adding a stylish and imaginative twist without having to put in any thought – they do the hard work so I don’t have to. So that’s a big tick from me.”

“I tried out the Layered Necklaces trend with the Links of London mini skull pendant and Effervescence bubble necklaces. I was initially  worried I would look like a rubbish Mr T from The A Team, but actually really loved the look!

“I think it worked as I chose two delicate pieces rather than anything chunky which might clash. I reckon the trick is also to ensure you use necklaces of differing lengths for maximum impact, so will definitely be trying this again.”

“I normally wear a couple of delicate bracelets every day, but this was a chance to experiment with stacking wristwear using a couple of bigger statement pieces that I wouldn’t usually wear.

“I loved the effect – if anything I almost prefer it to my usual, more understated look. It’s contemporary and bolder, yet isn’t too loud and allows me to simply update my style with a couple of new pieces. I wouldn’t wear a bold bracelet alone, but I liked how it looked when I teamed it others of various sizes. It looked great with a casual denim shirt, and worked equally well both out and about during the day, as well as in the evening having drinks with friends.”

“I was a bit uncertain about trying the trend of Stacked Wristwear as I am a fan of a slightly more minimalist style. I couldn’t believe how much I ended up liking the effect of the contrasting pieces together though. I thought it was a really fun look!

“I think it helped that the colours all toned well, in the different shades of pink and rose. Whether worn over the weekend, or at work, the selection went well with every outfit I tried. I approve!”

So that’s a pretty resounding thumbs-up from the girls!

Tune in on Friday from midnight as things kick off, or head over to our Jewellery department straight away if you can’t wait until then!

Links of London is far too expensive for what it is, would never pay their prices, you are paying for their name! I can get much better silver jewellery from other designers on Qvc on clearance and from street markets!

I have to agree with Linda Limara regarding Links of London – vastly overpriced! I bought the previous TSV Sweetie friendship bracelet and the cord started fraying after 2/3 wearings, so it had to be returned. There are other much better quality & value jewellery brands available from QVC.
