My holiday fashion and beauty tips – and pics!

Austen and I are back from our hols in Gran Canaria and it was super-duper! The sun was hot, the sangria flowed, the sea was incredible, the sand was crazy (we walked across sand dunes at the back of our hotel) and we had a good old giggle.

We stayed in the most magnificent hotel: the Riu Palace Maspalomas. We enjoyed a breath-taking view from our hotel room and the whole time the service from each and every single member of staff was exemplary. Just what we needed.

And it was very exciting to put lots of QVC items to the test. My Ultrasun sun protection was worked hard throughout, as was my Nails INC gel-effect polish and my tan accelerator from Gatineau.

Holster Danni Minogue sandalsThe Gatineau worked well for Austen in terms of really reducing his prickly heat on his arms and legs, it wasn’t as fierce as it was in previous years where we’ve never used a product like this before. It was deliciously cool and soothing as an aftersun too. We sprayed our Ultrasun every day and also I loved the smell of the UV Hair Protector spray on me: a gentle hair fragrance and protector all-in-one.

Here’s me in my Danni Minogue Holster sandals which were my poolside buddies for half the week, the other half of the week I wore my Betula Birkenstocks – getting wet didn’t phase them, and they dried so quickly in the sun and the comfort never waned.

Here’s me in my fave Ronni Nicole maxi dress – a real headturner at dinner on Friday night.

And after dinner and entertainment in the lounge, we’d have a final drink on the balcony listening to some classical music on our Bose soundlink mini.

When we got back we tootled off to what was my first EVER festival. I’m not much of a camper – I always get cramp after being cooped up in a tent.

So we did the Wireless Festival at Finsbury Park in London – rapper, newly wed (to Kim Kardashian) and new dad, Kanye West was headlining and you might have heard that he got jeered and booed after he did a 20 minute rant in the middle of his set. It was quite funny.

JameelaJamilWe had a busy old day: it was hot, the music was piercingly loud (ouch! I almost wished I packed some earplugs, but that would have defeated the object! Lol!). I have to say it was a bit surreal spending the night dancing away with Alesha Dixon and her hubby + friends, and we also spotted super-sexy super model Jourdan Dunn and TV Presenter Jameela Jamil, sporting a yellow Lulu Guinness Pollyanna handbag which you can see here

Gotta admit that festivals are definitely for the young ones in my opinion – standing for most of the day took its toll on my feet. A couple of nights later I had a lush long hot bath with some SBC Propolis bath gel! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Here are some of my Wireless Festival pics.

So I’m back on Friday with an amazing Ecoegg TSV and also some Kim & Co outlet shows (meaning some great discounts!!!), and then on Monday I’m excited to be doing my first show with Antthony. If there’s any left by the time we get to it, we’ll be showing you his TSV.

One last word RE. my holiday skincare – I took the Elemis 7-Piece Women’s Ultimate Traveller collection on my hols so I could keep on top of my skin regime – plus these bottles were more than enough in the way of supplies for the whole week. A real winner – and worth getting or trying if you haven’t done so already.

They’ve got a superb TSV on Saturday so make sure you tune in. I use everything in this set and – OMG – each and every product is stunning. There’s a FULL SIZE Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm it in *squeals* Here’s Will finding out all about it from Keeley!

Using Elemis as part of my daily skincare regime has hugely improved the look and feel of my skin. I swear by these products so make sure you tune in for that Today’s Special Value deal.

See you soon…Toodle-pip and let me know where you’ve been or where you’re off to on hols this year!!

Much luv

Marv

    Hi Marv,
Good to hear you’re back on QVC – I actually thought you may have left as I know you are a busy lady and multitask. Glad you’re still on QVC! I will try and watch your show with Antthony as I think he’s lovely and know you’ll both have a good time!
Your hotel and its’ location looks wonderful. How great to have the sand dunes so nearby and the view of the sea – wow! Ian and I are saving up hard for our hols in Italy next year but I think personal experience of somewhere is great (so may have been swayed to visit Gran Canaria!).
You looked fab in the Ronni Nicole dress – the colours are stunning.
Glad you enjoyed your first festival – I did go to the ‘V’ festival many years in Essex but we didn’t stay over. I did see Alesha Dixon in a London restaurant a few years ago and was a bit star-struck! The nearest Ian and I have got to a festival this year is watching Glastonbury on t.v.! Well we watched Dolly Parton – who was great and we loved it when Richie Sambora did a song with her. To be honest I wasn’t that bothered about all the other appearances but that’s all part of it, not everyone will like the same thing!
You take care and all the very best,

PS my visit to the cattery was great. I did meet my new neighbours – unfortunately their gorgeous cat (11 years old) was put to sleep recently. The lady and I had a good chat about things so we’ve broken the ice.

    Hi Beth
Yes it was pretty spectacular where we stayed. Thanks for the compliment on that RONNI NICOLE dress – I was overjoyed by it – really comfy too.
WOW _ you went to V – that’s meant to be one of the best, up there with Glastonbury, isn’t it? I’m super impressed.
As for Alesha – she’s a lovely girl – I interviewed her once before she got famous again – back in about 2005. She came to the BBC radio studio where I was hosting a talk show and we had a good old natter.
It’s always fun to watch Glasto on the telly – often better than actually being there trying to see the best of it through crowds of ppl! Was Dolly any good?
Sad to hear about the kitty – how very sad. In a strange way it was a way of bringing you and your neighbour together on a mutual understanding, hopefully a lovely friendship will blossom between you both? xxx

    Hi Marv,
What a good way of looking at my meeting up with my neighbour. I do think we will get on – I’ve learnt to build on friendships slowly. When I was younger, I’d rush in but now I do try and find common ground. I’ll keep you posted on this hopefully budding friendship!
Great to hear that Alesha is a lovely person! She has the most beautiful face and a wonderful smile. If you do see her again, please let her know that my 5 year old niece is obsessed with Britain’s Got Talent and Alesha is her favourite presenter on the show. My niece loves her hair too.
In my opinion, Dolly was fab – she is professional, warm and completely talented. She wore a great pair of trousers too that I would love to look half as good in as she did. I admire her work with children and providing books for schools all over the UK. She definitely has brains and beauty and Ritchie Sambora was having a great time when he was on stage with her!
PS re Glastonbury, I love watching it every year on the telly but my brother went a few times back in the early/mid- 90s and his favourite person to see was the late Johnny Cash. He said he was amazing and a pleasure to watch.
All the best and it’s great to keep in touch!

Hi Hazel – thanks for your lovely comments. How are you? Do you have any fave QVC products that you always look out for? I do appreciate you getting in touch and it’s great to hear from you.

    HI Beth
Great to hear from you – Dolly sounds fab – I’ve looked up a few photos of her. Some of the best and most successful women in music I feel are those who ‘perform’, put on a show. Not just stand at a mike and sing but they dance and play up with the band and talk to the audience,, who aren’t shy. Dolly has always been like that. It’s the reason why women like Beyonce are so famous, they give the audience and fans value for money. the rapper Iggy Azalea did that at Wireless- I’ve never bothered with her but my opinion changed when I saw what a show she could put on. Talented girl. Not sure about all the swearing though! lolz
