So the Easter holidays came and went and wow… Malta was such a wonderful surprise!
Having never been before, we didn’t quite know what to expect and so went with very open minds …. and to be honest, I’ve never enjoyed anywhere else quite like it, the Maltese are so so friendly!! Everyone was happy to chat, probably helped by the fact that the sun came out as like England, it’s early spring which is rather hit and miss but with 24 degrees most days, it was blissful!
The weird thing was going on holiday without Myles as he was on a school trip to France for the week. We thought it would be good to go away as the three of us and then when Beely goes next year, we will do the same with Myles. We so rarely get one on one time – what family does? So to be able to take the time with just Beely and have a little adventure of our own was fantastic and she loved every minute of it!
We were only there for three whole days but made the most of the rocky coastline by going on lots of walks and enjoying plenty of crabbing. We had hours of fun teasing the crabs who were loving our meaty treats but they were way more skilled at nicking the meat off the hook before we got a chance to lift them up!
I managed a couple which was fun (don’t worry, they don’t get harmed by the hook as they only grab the big bits of meat) … we did however accidentally catch a moray eel!! Typically none of us had a camera at that moment so there is no evidence other than our memory, but it was quite a coup, it was a good metre long!!
We landed back home on the Friday evening with just enough time to meet Myles back at his school as the coach returned from France. We had a little extra time however, enough for Beely to play a little music to people hanging around in the arrivals lounge at Luton airport!!
So we are back home and spring has so definitely sprung! We took the dog for a walk along the canal this weekend and there was the strangest smell wafting in the warm air which rather reminded me of when I pop a wrap into the microwave for 15 seconds to warm it up a bit. We eventually came across the largest crop of turnips I have ever seen! It was four times wider than this picture shows!
Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine. I need to get some more Flower Power whilst it’s still Pick of the Month as my garden is ROMPING AWAY!!
Take care and much love
PS) remember to follow me on Twitter @PipaLive as all sorts of pics fly out from there and I’ll be doing a competition soon which I’ll be announcing there too!! x
