Mally RoncalThis week Mally Beauty celebrates five years with QVC. We caught up with Mally Roncal herself to talk make-up, trends and inspiration…

Tell us a little about Mally and how you got started

Well, I was originally pre-med in college. I wanted to become a dermatologist because I always loved skin and was fascinated by it, but I just couldn't deny my passion for make-up. My love affair with all things glam started at a young age.

In my early years as a make-up artist I put make-up on anything that was not nailed to the ground! Even though I only had very little experience, my agent took a chance on me and started booking me for photo shoots and fashion shows. He got my name out there and before I knew it, I was receiving calls to do some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Mally make-upI never had a problem with working hard no matter what, so I practically did every job I possibly could in the beginning. I worked for free, I never said no, and I never turned down a job. I had some great friends who gave me my first chances to work, and it just started building from there.

When I set out to create Mally Beauty, I wanted to give women not only high-performance products, but also the education on how to use them so they could discover beauty from within. At the time I was working as a celebrity make-up artist, and as a spokesperson for Sephora, so I literally had every beauty line at my disposal, but there wasn’t anything out there that met all of my needs.

Mally Beauty combines knowledge, expertise and technique into every formula. When the collection first debuted on QVC in March 2005, it wasn’t just a line of cosmetics – it was your own personal make-up artist in every product.

Tell us about the last five years at QVC and how you've found the British customers

I am so proud and honored to be a part of the QVC UK family! I LOVE the UK beyond words and the people of this country are unlike any other. I have found everyone here to be kind, loving, accepting, and hilarious! I look forward to many more gorgois years to come.

Mally with make-upWhat kind of woman is your make-up for?

Mally Beauty is for every woman out there! Whether a true glam goddess, or a woman that barely wears any make-up, or a young teenage girl trying make-up for the first time, Mally Beauty lets your inner fierceness shine through!

My mother always taught me that “what makes you different makes you beautiful” and that’s a philosophy that has guided me as a make-up artist.

My goal is to take that amazois, one-of-a-kind beauty that we all have within us, and incorporate it into each product that I develop. Look good, feel good!

What are your inspirations?

My mother was my first source of inspiration, and she continues to be. She was an incredible beauty, both inside and out. I truly believe that it’s the things that you might think of as a 'flaw' that can actually be your most gorgois, fierce feature!

Which trends in beauty are you loving right now?

I absolutely love a bold, bright red lip. There are lots of beautiful options – try them all until you find your personal favourite. Having been named Pantone’s colour of the year, emerald green is a super hot colour trend to try. With a variety of shades, ranging from emerald to sage, to hunter green, you can easily make this look work for you and choose which shade compliments your skin tone best.

    Mally,
I discovered you 3 years ago on QVC and I have to say your make up is absolutely fabulous! I am of indian origin with a similar skin tone to yours and have found it so difficult to find make up that suits my tone, but your make up is ‘fierce’!
Thank you for your make up, and THANK YOU for the volumising mascara; the best mascara EVER!

Ms. Mally, you ARE a huge inspiration to moi. I am a proud and fierce Mallynista..never before in my life has a makeup line and her creator been such a powerful force in my life. I am a volunteer makeup artist and I use mostly mally products when I do it. I love the responses I receive when women try Mally Beauty for the first time; they are truly amazed at how beautiful they can be and of course, they want to buy the stuff afterwards. Keep doing what you’re doing..by the vayy, I do see you as a talk show host in the future..just sayin! Love and blessings always, Leila (lanaturner29)
