Make it a great summer staycation

0

When the weather is still pretty chilly and the mornings are dark, this time of year is when we’re usually dreaming of the beach, sipping cocktails and thinking about booking our summer holidays right? Well, if you’re not jetting off anywhere this year, fear not because staycations can be just as fun! Being off work and school, and taking time out to just relax in the comfort of your own home can be blissful, plus is costs a lot less too.

Get outdoors and enjoy pottering around the garden, entertaining friends and family and spending quality time with the kids, because we do get hot, sunny days here in the UK too! Here’s a little inspiration to help you make the most of your staycation…

A stylish space

Picking out a few key pieces of garden furniture makes all the difference when creating a relaxing space to while away the hours. This string chair from Amanda Holden’s BundleBerry range is so contemporary and will look fabulous in your garden. We love this indoor/outdoor striped rug from BundleBerry too. It’s so versatile and can be used to cover up faded decking, or unsightly paving to create a really chic outdoor space.

This Retreat rattan egg chair is very cool. Imagine just curling up in this with a good book and a long cocktail? It’s so stylish and would definitely impress your guests too.

If you’re after a more traditional garden table and chairs set then this Buckingham collection is perfect. The metal is rust and weather resistant so it can stay out in the garden all year round, plus it comes with comfy beige cushions too.

The hostess with the mostest

Having friends and family over is one of the best parts of having a staycation. Entertaining with barbecues and garden parties can be so much fun! This Monaco Magnesia fire pit from La Hacienda is the perfect two-in-one piece for your garden. It comes with a grill so you can cook up tasty barbecue treats for your party, and then relax and gather round the cosy fire pit with your friends as the party carries onto into the evening.

Making your garden party table look stylish is an important job too. This Culinary Concepts octopus stand and glass bowl is a really striking piece and would look fab as a table centrepiece. Fill it with ice to chill your beer and champagne and keep guests happy all day long!

Cocktails and garden parties go hand in hand, and we can’t resist a Martini or two! These lovely JM by Julien Macdonald Martini glasses are perfect for serving up your finest cocktails and have stylish gold detailing on the sides. They’d look gorgeous filled with your favourite tipple.

Summer sun-downers

Your staycation wouldn’t be complete without lazy evenings, chilling out in your garden and enjoying a quiet drink or two. These craft beers will be great served chilled, to enjoy when putting your feet up after a hard day… doing nothing! Or if you’re a gin fan try this Great Taste Award Winners collection and see which is your favourite.

When the weather’s warm, it’s great to throw together light, summery meals that take little effort – leaving you more time away from the kitchen, relaxing in the garden. This side of smoked salmon offers the perfect treat when whipping up salads, sandwiches or as a starter for a dinner party.

Fun for the little ones

Keeping the kids happy during the long summer holidays can be exhausting at times. But it doesn’t have to be stressful just because you’re not going away. We’ve got a great range of outdoor toys and play equipment from Plum that will keep them happy in the garden for hours. Plus, they’ll be outdoors getting fresh air, running around and more importantly, exhausted come bedtime. Win!

We love this Toddlers Tower play centre for the really little ones (suitable for around 18 months), because it can be hard to keep them entertained outdoors safely, without having to constantly watch over them. This great set means that you have your hands free whilst they happily go in the baby swing or whoosh down the mini slide. They’ll love it!

This sand and water table is fab for all ages. It’s a great height too, so they can stand or sit at the table which has one side for water and the other for sand.

Whatever you’re up to, we hope you have a wonderful staycation! Take a look at our garden and leisure department for more inspiration.
