Fashion often seems to be a little ahead of itself, with designers thinking one or even two collections beyond their current styles while we sometimes bring you outfits intended for the weather we expect in some weeks’ or even months’ time.
Autumn fashion, for example, is launched in August while many of us are still enjoying our summer holidays (although I have to admit, if I’ve stayed in the UK it may well be near-monsoon conditions over the Bank Holiday weekend!).
This year, though, with our Discover Spring Fashion event planned for Monday and Tuesday next week, we have already had a couple of days which felt distinctly spring-like! I enjoyed blue skies and warm sunshine during my walks with Barney last weekend, and I certainly felt in the mood to update my wardrobe. It’s cold and grey again now, but it’s good to feel that spring is on its way.
We have the Spring Catwalk show on air at 8pm on Sunday, with Catherine Huntley and expert fashion journalist Lesley Ebbetts showing you how to put some of the best of our new styles together – they’ll be explaining some of the trends from the catwalks and the high street.
Then, from midnight we will be bringing you an extravaganza of fashion for 48 hours, through Monday and Tuesday. It will be a fabulous two-day fashion event dedicated to the latest fashion trends, colours, prints and shapes for the spring 2015 season, with everything you see on air available on Easy Pay.
The Today’s Special Value on Monday will be a stunning offer from handbag designer Lulu Guinness, while Tuesday’s special feature is a lace detailed tunic from Together. There will be hours from other favourites including Join Clothes, Nina Leonard, Marble and Attitudes by Renee too.
I’ve had a quick look through some of what will be on offer to select a few pieces to show you as a sneak preview (by the way, thanks to Mike Edlin backstage, who took these photos for me). I found some lovely prints – I especially love the cotton mix floral jacket from Isaac Mizrahi Live (£59) which I’ve teamed with a cotton striped top from Liz Claiborne New York – a brilliantly versatile piece for just £23. There’s something about teaming flowers and stripes together that I think can really work, providing the colours are tonal, as with this monochrome combination.
I’ve stuck with the black and white printed theme with two styles from another favourite – Yong Kim. They are similar shapes and both have little pocket details – I can’t decide which I prefer! Should I get the polka dots (£108) or the window pane check (£109)? They might seem a touch expensive but as the numerous five star reviews QVC customers have left on our website for Yong Kim clothes make clear, once you’ve tried the quality you realise that these clothes are worth every penny! And don’t forget, you have Easy Pay and a 30 day money back guarantee with everything you see during the event.
I will be on air at 9am on Tuesday with an hour in the company of Lynne Paul and her gorgeous knits from Marble, including six brand new styles. Then at 11am it will be Evey Kurlander with Join Clothes, featuring more new and top-rated designs. I can’t wait to show them to you – I hope you can join us, and that you see something to bring a touch of spring into your wardrobe.
Take good care
