Looking back at this time last year…

Alison and Julia at the Gold Show Did you know that it's National Flea month? No, neither did I untill I took Willows to the vet yesterday to get her wormed. Such is the world of the vet, and it makes me very glad to be in our far more glamourous world here at QVC, with our Get Gorgeous Weekend! Out with the wooly tights, and in with smooth, exfoliated, bronzed limbs – and that's just the fellas!

This time last year I was in Corfu freezing to death on a beach in Kalami Bay while you lot roasted in unseasonally warm weather. Then I was off to Vicenza for the Gold Show with Julia Roberts – oh how we shivered… and shook… and went blue… and could barely speak… and moaned!!! It was bitter!

And there we were in the skimpiest of evening dresses (left), perched on a concrete bench while a force 9 gale whipped around our undergarments and threatened to cause frostbite to our extremeties. Watching ourselves on the monitors, bathed in a beautiful golden light with a breathtaking view of Verona behind us, we appeared to be basking in temperatures similar to those in the Bahamas. The reality was very different.

We were positioned by an open door that led onto a massive garden where the trees were being gently swayed by breezes that were close to freezing. As no heaters were available in our Italian villa, we had tucked into any available space (although there wasn't much space in those dresses!) those little hand warmers that climbers use. We both enjoyed button-sized bits of warmth which stopped us from seizing up altogether!

When we both stood up at the end of the evening, a whole shower of warmers fell out of our clothes like bean bags… it was a hoot. Fingers crossed this year will be warmer for the show – like 2003 when I was in heaven bringing the show live to you in 100 degree sunshine 🙂

Love Ali xxx

Thank you Julie! The make-up artist was unbelievable. Both Jules and I agreed it was possibly the best make-over we’d ever had from a make-up artist not associated with a brand we sell… if that makes sense! Hope all’s well with you and do keep in touch – I will do the same.

Just ordered the TSV looks great but I can’t take my eyes off the ring you’re wearing on your left hand it’s gorgeous. I know you’re a diamonique fan would I be very cheeky asking is it real I’d luv it, unfortunately I missed diamonique day yesterday. If it’s the real thing good health to wear it. By the weather is cold and showery here in Ireland please share your sun with us. Love you as a presenter always enjoy your shows, luv Pat (gregory) Drogheda, Co.Louth. Eire.

Hello there Pat, I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you, but I don’t often go back over the last month’s blogs, so I can only apolgise for the tardiness of my reply! I think possibly the ring you’re referring to is a cross over pave set diamond ring that my partner Colin bought for me for Christmas. It’s something we may well be bringing in a similar design in Diamonique…infact watch on Sunday as I have a whole hour of Silver Diamonique jewellery and I know we have a large number of band rings. Never mind the weather, I so love Ireland, although to be honest I have never travelled to County Louth… maybe this year 🙂 Luv Ali x
