February already! Is it me or is this year already flying by? Here's the proof that evenings are getting lighter – I took this picture (left) on the way home last Sunday at 5pm.
I love the winter months and the changing seasons but those long sunny days beckon after a while and this has felt like a long old winter.
The winter evenings always take me back to my earlier career. Years ago in the mid-nineties I worked for a production company in London. It was a fantastic 3 years of my career. I worked on some amazing projects, including the 'In the Mix' album series which I co-produced and mixed.
The timeframe to mix the tracks was very, very, tight. I'd receive the track list on a Thursday and would need the double CD album mixed down by Monday morning. It was non-stop production day and night. Being in the studio I saw very little, if any, day light – but I loved it!
When working on the 'In the Mix 96' compilation I was on my third successive night heading into Monday morning. It was time to master the production, and I was well on schedule. I was so sleepy that I had to stand to ensure I didn't fall asleep… but I did fall asleep – whilst standing! I woke just before I fell over! It was a real buzz and I will cherish the memories. I remember the thrill of seeing my album in Woolworths – quite surreal!
Looking ahead to this weekend – I have some cracking shows in store. Liz Earle this Saturday at 1pm (I've seen the running order – a fabulous line up!) On Sunday we have a brand new and exciting show – The Palladium Collection. A stunning jewellery range from 3pm. Palladium is a wonderful metal and is an element from the platinum family, but, without the platinum pricing!
Take care and see you soon,
