Well it’s certainly been a little bit showbiz at work recently – in the past week or so we’ve had Katherine Jenkins, Donny Osmond and Sam Bailey all coming in to the studio to perform and talk about their new albums.
I had the great pleasure of interviewing both Donny (see my previous blog here) and Sam. It was the second time I’d met her and she is so very down to earth and lovely… and looking fabulous, especially as she has so recently given birth to her third child. In case you missed the interview, and her stunning performance of two tracks from her album The Power of Love, which has been updated with five new tracks for Christmas, here it is:
I must admit I struggled a little while listening to “O Holy Night”. Some of you may know that one of my sisters tragically died very suddenly a few years ago and, because it was so sudden and unexpected, we had no idea what her wishes were when we were trying to plan her funeral.
Then one of her daughters told us that when they used to watch the film “Home Alone” together, there was a song in it that my sister loved so much she’d said, “Girls, I want that song at my funeral!” It turned out to be “O Holy Night”, a Christmas piece – so, even though my sister’s funeral was on a sunny day in May, we had it played anyway, to the bemusement of many of those present. She would have liked that – Deborah had a fabulous sense of humour!
Sam sang the song so beautifully in our studio, and left me a bit of a wreck – I was very glad that we went straight to a break at the end of the song, as I’m not sure I would have been able to speak. It’s amazing how powerful music can be, taking us straight back to a certain time or place whether we want to go there or not. That’s certainly one track that will forever be a very emotional one for me.
Now – in my late forties I’m becoming very aware of the ageing process, and although I use fantastic skincare products (I have no excuse not to, do I, considering where I work!), I’m starting to feel like I need a little extra help.
I’ve seen good results in the last year using LightStim and the PMD but now I’m really upping the ante and doing a trial with the Tria Anti Ageing Laser . I love the fact that you can use all these devices in the comfort of your own home, as I simply don’t have time for salon treatments.
The Tria has three levels of intensity, and I’m currently on Level 2. I’ll be honest, it stings a bit as you move it over your skin but I’m assured by our beauty guru Alison Young that you get used to it very quickly and that I’ll soon be on Level 3 without any problem.
She saw amazing results after the four weeks she used it for, so I’m excited – I’ll let you know how I get on! And if you bought it when it was a Today’s Special Value offer recently, I’d love to know how you’re getting on with it too. Let’s all get younger-looking skin together! You can get in touch with me by leaving a comment below this blog, or find me on Twitter (I’m @jackiekabler).
Just before I go… BREAKING NEWS! I know many of you are as obsessed with the Cozee Home bedding range as I am, so this is VERY EXCITING – the onesies are here! I’ve just ordered mine in leopard. I would urge you to move quickly…I don’t think they’ll be around for long!
Speak to you all soon!
