Laura is back in town!

8

Firstly, can I just apologise in advance as my blog will be considerably shorter than usual today – I had an early start at QVC and have quite simply run out of time.

Thanks to those of you who have been commenting today about my on-air look.

I created the make-up look myself using the fabulous Lights of Venice Today’s Special Value from Laura Geller, launching at midnight tomorrow.

I think the packaging is really lovely and will make a great Christmas gift. The only choice is in the Balance and Glow illuminating foundation, but there is so much more to the collection including a beautiful shade of blusher, fabulous bronzy eyeshadow crayon, two lip products, liquid eyeliner and the iconic mascara – which I hadn’t tried before. I’m loving it, and I hope you will too if you order it.

It is supposed to be my weekend off, but I couldn’t possibly miss Laura. Our show is at 3pm and I also have a L’Occitane show at midday.

Speaking of Today’s Special Values, yesterday we had Peony flowers and I decided to set you a little challenge – no prizes, just a bit of fun!

Take a look at these three photos of phalenopsis orchids. Can you tell which are real and which are fake between the pale, mid colour pink and deeper pink?

I’ll let you know next week, and I won’t be surprised if some of you get it wrong as the Peony ones are so realistic.

I also thought I’d share a picture of my Christmas cactus which is laden with buds already.

I think it is going to be in full flower way before the ‘big’ day itself, although I will have to buy a new poinsettia. Mine is in the conservatory and is now over two foot high, but no sign of any red flowers.

I have decided to give Focus on Fashion a break until the new year with so much else to write about in the run up to Christmas. If you need a fashion fix, you can always check the Style List on our website for a heads-up on a lot of the different QVC fashion brands. I will keep updating you with the shows I’m doing; Centigrade next Thursday and Fashion on Friday next week is Kim & Co with Carla.

I will be doing a new blog on my website over the weekend and sending out a new newsletter on Monday announcing the winner of my signed Liberty Sands trilogy books. I’ll also be letting you know how you can get hold of an exclusive short story, so do feel free to sign up. You’ll also read an update with my charity news – an exciting development which I’ll share with you on here next week.

It’s Bonfire Night tomorrow – our cats don’t go out, but please keep your pets in as they are not as keen on fireworks as we are.

Have a great weekend,
Love,
Julia xx

      Hi Linda
Isn’t it amazing how long some plants can last when you look after them – the first couple of flowers are out on mine now.
Did you go for the Laura Gelkar TSV? I was surprised how much I liked the blush as it looked quite pale in the container – lip gloss fab too.
I’ll persevere with the selfies for now
      Love

Hi Julia, this is my first comment to you, but I couldn’t help but write to ask you about the beautiful floral top you had on today during the Laura Geller hour. I’ve tried so so hard to find the number of the top as I’ve seen you wearing it before and admired it then! I’ve phoned customer services and even they couldn’t help! Please please help! I purchased the large eyeshadow pallet of 31 different eyeshadows and I’ve also got the advanced order for the marble lipstick. Laura’s makeup is just brilliant, and you looked lovely today with the today’s special value colours. I’ve always read your blog, and really enjoyed all your adventures, but never commented before so this could be the new me!
Thanks Julia, keep well, your an inspiration to us all.
    Much love,
    Jane xx

      Hello Jane
Thanks for leaving a comment – let’s hope it’s the first of many! I think the blouse was Butler & Wilson World – was it black chiffony fabric with flowers in pink & yellow? If so, I’m afraid it’s from last year & no longer available.
I think you’ll like the marble lipsticks when you get them, the texture was lovely.
Thanks for your kind compliments & so pleased you enjoy reading my blog
      Love
