At work yesterday I was chatting to one of the producers and they were talking about when they would be finishing up for the Christmas period and I said, “well you’ve got plenty of time to sort that out, Christmas is a couple of weeks away”.
To which they replied, “Well , next week you mean?”
“No,” I insisted, “you’ve got two weeks at least… haven’t you?”
“No, it’s next Friday, Miceal”, she replied!
Well, honestly, it was like one of those moments in a film when the main protagonist has a sudden moment of revelation and everything slows down, the camera zooms in for a big close-up and the expression on their face is one of total and utter surprise and horror. This was me. I felt like I had received a physical blow to the solar plexus. It hit me like a tonne of bricks. Mild panic set in and the edges of my world blurred into blackness. “Christmas is next week”, I said to myself. How is that possible? I still haven’t done all my Christmas shopping!
If you are anything like me and in a last minute panic, don’t worry, QVC are here to help. We are still guaranteeing Christmas delivery on most orders placed up until 21st December (I believe a few exceptions may apply, like items that are despatched directly from the brand and, therefore, not in our warehouse).
So, beset with panic, I started to make a list of everyone I needed to purchase gifts for. If you are in the same boat as me, here is a quick guide to some last minute purchases that will keep you out of the doghouse over the festive season, and you will have an extended money back guarantee up until 25th January 2016. Brilliant!
For the man in your life:
These are available in Penguin, Frog or Bee. I have the bee option. I get compliments every time and the quality and construction are really great – they feel like they will last a long time. Besides I like the ‘message’ that my pair convey as I am an advocate for the protection of our bees and pollinators. So, all round a great choice!
A gift for the girls:
If you know someone who is getting a piece of jewellery this Christmas what better gift to get them than a way to protect that piece of jewellery and preserve the polish and shine on it? With this you can certainly look after those precious keepsakes. The Safekeeper lining will help keep your metal shiny and untarnished for up to 25 years!
This box is bigger and weightier than it may perhaps look and feels like a really quality gift that cost a lot more than you will pay for it. The black enamelling on the lid with the crystal initial gives it a real luxurious look.
For the fitness fanatics (and the ones planning to get fit in the New Year):
The Fitbit is a craze but definitely not a fad – this fab little device is one that I am hoping to get in my stocking this year! I like my health, fitness and nutrition and this can assist with all of those. With this you can take your fitness tech with you on the go;iIt will monitor your heart rate, steps taken, sleep cycles, calories burned and so on. Not only that but you can synch it via Bluetooth to your smartphone and it will give you text and call notifications while you’re on-the-go too!
It’s our Today’s Special Value offer on December 21st – so you can still get it in time for Christmas, and save a packet too.
A gifts for man’s best friend:
What can I say? How cute will your pooch look in this gorgeous little jacket. Go on, you know they deserve a treat too, and they’ll look cuter than cute when they are out and about strutting their stuff over the festive season.
The perfect stocking filler:
I have bought these for all of the girls I know. Whether they’re for those with long hair, those who like to swim (young and old) or those who love their skincare, home facials or who just like to keep their hair off their face whilst doing their make-up, these are perfect yet practical little stocking fillers that I know will get used time and time again!
Or perhaps the perennial favourite of fragrance (one of my personal passions), something that’s always great to give as a gift. In which case you could try the wonderful new fragrance from Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 with its fresh, spicy, floriential fragrance, or maybe go for a duo from Miller Harris Classic Her Duo which has two complimenting fragrance: one fresh and sweet, ‘La Pluie’ and one that is warm, sexy and sensual, ‘L’Air de Rien’.
Whatever you decide, I hope this little express shopping list helps. Happy shopping! Remember, this is the fun, exciting part of Christmas, thinking of friend and family, and choosing what you know they will love – so enjoy it!
Until next time,
