Last chance to play my guessing game!

Simon's pink plant This is your last chance saloon to name my plant. The prize for anyone who names it correctly will be the chance to come into QVC in the spring and see the Mr Richard Jackson in full flight during one of his shows. I’ll give you a guided tour of the studios and I’ll put together a little goody bag of gardening delights!

Simon's pink flower But what is the plant? Look up ‘yer books and I’ll take Latin names or common ones (if there is one). If there are no correct entries I’ll post the answer on Monday morning.

Good luck!

Nice try, but the flowers tems are much bigger than the grandiflora and the flowers have only just come out (all my Alstromeria have been out all year) Keep trying!

    Hi Jooly
The Amaryllis was a good guess and the Crinum perhaps even better but my starts flowering in Autumn (late Autumn) and lives outdoors all year round so that counts out the Amaryllis and as the Crinum flowers in summer, its not that either. mmmmmmm the plot thickens eh?

Great guesses Lolly but both wrong I’m afraid. The Amaryllis probably wouldn’t have survived outdoors all year long and the Crinum is a very similar flower but comes out in the summer rather than the autumn that mine flowers in and it’s probaly a bit more fragrant. Keep trying!

    Hi Simon
I think your plant is a Schizostylis (or Kaffir Lilly to give it its common name). It looks lovely in the pink which you have but I saw reddish coloured one today (if I’ve got the right plant) and it looks even more striking.

Thanks so much for all the entries, Its not kaffir Lilly in fact it is not a lilly at all!

Nice one Penny but I’m afraid it is not a Habranthus Robustus. I’m not that famailiar with that one but it sounds cool.

    Hi Jill,
I like the idea of a Jilly Lilly, but no it’s not a lilly or a Glad. Any other ideas?
