LALA Land beckons…

23

Hi guys,

It's Sunday morning and I'm about to set off for the airport. It's very grey and damp so hoping for a bit of sunshine in LA! I had every intention of having an early night but decided to go to the Palace match yesterday afternoon (at least they won!) and then cooked lasagne for dinner, so by the time I got to bed after packing, it was gone 2am! Well at least I'm more on LA time!!

Hoping there are some good movies on the flight but I will probably get some shut eye too in preparation for the hectic week ahead.

For all my updates this week, check out the QVC at the Red Carpet blog where I'll be blogging as often as I can!

Good luck in La Julia sure you’ll have a fab time. Great result for Palace. Not so good at all for me I’m afraid. We lost 3-0 – so much for a late Birthday present! It’s going to be an uphill struggle going on yesterdays result and performance. We were soundly beaten.
Take care in La and look forward to your future blogs in the Red Carpet Blog

Have a fab time in LA Julia…I’ll be checking out your Red Carpet Blog. I’ve already asked Craig to bring us back some Caribbean sunshine, so would you do us the honours and bring some back from LA? ;o) xxxx

    Hi Steven
Oh dear – not a good result for you – I guess my sister and family will be pretty hapy though!
I’m glad I went Saturday – we have a couple of new signings who I hadn’t seen before …. KG from Fulham and Dean Moxey from Derby …. and though both looked pretty useful! Man of the Match for me though was Paddy McCarthy – good solid defensive performance. I think Dougie is starting to turn it around – I hope so!

I’ll do my best to bring some sunshine back!! I think the week here will ‘hot up’ in more ways than one as we get closer to the Oscars! Haven’t spotted any ‘celebs’ yet – but early days

Julia just watched the vid for the Red Carpet OMG that dress was awesome. You looked fab. Palace drew 3-3 with Reading at the weekend. The Eagles were 2 up and 3-2 up. 4 points above Scunny in the relegation battle but Scunny have 2 games in hand. Maybe a chance missed. We had a good weekend winning 4-0 against St Johnstone and Celtic lost 2-0 at Motherwell so that makes up a little for last weekend. It’s the Cup replay on Wed night so I hope your sister isnt smiling on Wednesday!
Looking forward to hearing your tales and seeing you back on air
    Take care xxx

    Hello Steven
You really are turning into a Palace fan!!!! Can’t believe that not only do you know the score but also the way the game played out ………….. Eagles!! Not a great week for us as we lost against Pompey last Tuesday. I’m hoping Forest can win tomorrow and the other 2 teams near us at the bottom draw – starting to get quite tense now!
Good luck in the cup – may the best team win!
Thanks for the compliment about the Red Carpet dress – Sophie helped me choose it

We lost 1-0 in the Cup Julia and got 3 players sent off! Leaves us free for a League campaign is the only slight positive. We play Celtic in the League Cup Final on the 20th March too. Not a happy chappy today. Mr Lennon(better keep it clean on here!) seems to have the indian sign over us at the moment. I think I’m a jinx too – 3 visits to parkhead and 3 defeats.
I am turning into a Palace fan. I’ll be asking you to get me tickets for a game soon! Burnley away on Saturday. Are you going? Scunthorpe must have lost in that midweek you mentioned because they are still 5 behind and only have one game in hand
Take care and i hope you are not missing LA too much!

    Hello Lesley,
Thanks for the compliment – I enjoyed the Red Carpet, something a bit different!
It’s good to be back but I’m now off again until the 18th March, just catching up on some overdue holiday.
I’ll keep flying the flag for the 50 somethings!!

    Hi steven
I heard about the sendings off in mid week …… one more and they would have had to void the game I think??
Still you had a better result today.
Another defeat for Palace though and some of the other results went against us. I can’t believe Swansea lost to Scunthorpe, particularly as even their Manager said Swansea bossed it – oh well, can’t moan about other teams results, it’s ours we need to focus on. You know we actually have quite a good team just a lack of belief!
Good Luck in the Cup Final if we don’t speak before

You won’t get rid of me that easily! The Cup Final is on the 20th March. I think the referee lost the plot in the Old Firm game but I’m always going to say that!
I was the same as you I thought Swansea would definitely beat Scunthorpe. Sheff U got beat though so that helped a little
Hope you had a good weekend apart from the footie xxx

    Hi Steven
And Middlesborough got thrashed!!! – unlike Gareth Southgate I don’t necessarily think they are ‘safe’! We have Cardiff tonight – we will probably go and win that one against the odds ….. or is that just wishful thinking?

Well you were right Julia the mighty Palace did beat Cardiff. Have toy say you guys have a very good home record. 4 point lead again over Scunthorpe too and as you also rightly forecast Middlesboro are right down there now too along with Derby. Speaking of Middlesboro did you see Kris Boyd moved on loan to Notts Forest? Good move for him – I hope he does well. Just never worked out at the riverside – too many ex Celrtic Managers there(Strachan and Mowbray!) Just having a look at the fixtures. Palalce v Scunthorpe on the 16th April. Palace have got QPR away on Sat though. Bit of a local derby that one. Are you working or will you be going to that? We play PSV in Holland on Thursday night. I’m going to try a ‘you’ and say we’ll go out and win against the odds. Realitically I think we could get a going over but I would take a narrow defeat to take back to Ibrox on the 17th March(my Mums Birthday!0
Take care Julia. Caught one of your shows the other day- still looking fab. I was at the gym today so feeling it a tad today!

    Hi Steven
No I didn’t make it to the QPR game as I’m away in Spain at the moment – my son Daniel kept me informed though – another red card for Paddy McCarthy, we could really do without him being suspended in this relegation dog fight – and we lost to Neil Warnock grrrrrrrrrrrr
How did Rangers do against PSV Eindhoven?
Wish your Mum a Hapy Birthday from me

Rangers drew 0-0 in Holland Julia and we won at the weekend so we are 2 points behind Celtic with a game in hand. Thursday is the 2nd leg of the european game and the we have the League Cup Final against Celtic on Sunday. I’m off Friday and Monday too. Interesting times ahead. Wish us luck.
I suppose Palace didnt expect anything from that game really but was a bit annoying that it was a penalty. At least Scunthorpe got beat too. It’s looking like April 16th against Scunthorpe could be vital. Having said that both our teams could use that old cliche at the minute – one game at a time!
Fingers crossed and hope you enjoyed Spain
    Love

Bring on the Derby! Derby are down near the bottom too are they not Julia?

    Hi Steven
Commisarations about Europe BUT congratulations on winning the Cup – always nice to have something in the trophy cabinet!!!
You are right about the Palace v Scunthorpe game being HUGE particularly as we could only manage a draw against Derby at the weekend ………… should have won that one!
No games this week cos of Internationals – speaking of which I might be going to the England game next Tuesday – would be good as I haven’t been to the ‘new’ Wembley yet!

If you had asked me last week Julia there was only one of the 2 games I ‘really wanted to win and we managed it. I know I’m biased but we deserved it. A Cup Final win is always good but against your big rivals it makes it that little extra special. Ive had a massive smile on my face since Sunday! I really think we can push on now and win the Title. No doubtI’ll keep you posted as you do with me and Palace.
England Play Wales on Saturday dont they? As a neutral I think it should be a cracking game. Is that the Ghana game you are going to then? That should be great. The stadium looks fantastic. You’ll need to post some pics. Either that or send them to me – don’t know if you can do that? I could give you a email address or soemthing if you like.
Scotland play Brazil on Sunday at the Emirates. I think thats all about money making to be honest. Don’t think we stand much of a chance. Always good to see Brazil. I’m not going but I’ll likely watch. As always I just hope our club players get through their games without picking up injuries.
Chat to you later in the week hopefully
    Love

    Hi Steven
Seems I was a little premature about the Ghana game …. Daniel said he had a spare ticket and I thought he would save it for his ‘old mum’ – could have been a Mother’s Day present!! It would seem he has let someone else have it, so I guess I’ll be watching it on telly like everyone else!
Yes Wales tomorrow should be a good game. Not actually sure if Palace have got any International involvement at senior level – a couple of youngsters though! It would bode well for the future if only we could hang on to them!

Thats a shame about the game Julia. Maybe you will get to Wembley with Palace instead! Good win for your team again yesterday. We got beat at home yesterday by Dundee Utd lost 3-2. Breakaway goal with 2 mins to go. Many more twists to come hopefully – take care and speak soon. Hope you had a nice weekend

    Hi Steven
It was a good win for us on Saturday – I managed to get to the game and we definitely deserved the 3 points. I don’t think I’ve seen Palace lose this season ….. maybe the Chairman should invite me to every home game! We are closing in on the team above us now, Derby, it would be nice to overtake them and put a bit of distance between us and the bottom three.
Sorry Rangers didn’t do so well – Dan tells me you are in big trouble off the pitch. I know how that feels when you’re a fan, so I really hope they get it sorted.
