I’ve been road-testing a rather gorgeous new handbag this week in readiness for tomorrow’s Today’s Special Value, and I must admit I’ve been totally knocked-out! I’ve been putting the Kipling Priska bag through its paces with great success. This one is Port Snake Red. There are six more colours to choose from too (Black/White Snake, Dark Denim, Black, Blaze Yellow, Celo Grey and Monkey Mania Purple)
Apart from the cute grey and white polka lining, I was very impressed at just how much I could put into the bag without stressing it or pushing it out of shape. Think about how much you pile into your handbags? So I put in my notebook, my purse, a make-up bag, my glasses case and my keys on the clever little key attachment (with my signature Kipling monkey!!) which means there’s less chance of you losing them at the bottom of the bag! Watch this short Vine video I filmed of exactly what I put in there. Once it stops, press play again to watch it – it only lasts a few seconds.

I know many of you are Kipling fans because of both how stylish and practical this Belgian brand is, and also not least because of the love you showed for the range (which was designed by top supermodel Helena Christensen). Well this TSV bag isn’t from the Helena Christensen range, but is very cute nonetheless. I found it really versatile when I travelled around London on my day off. I wore it on my shoulder and across the body (with its extendable strap) and both ways it was mega-comfy.
As with all our Today’s Special Values, it’s launching from midnight tonight and then will appear at various times throughout the day. So make sure you tune in to see all the other colour options up close and personal. Not forgetting to see what a superb price we have on the bag (I’m bursting to tell you but I can’t!!). Ask for it for Christmas and send the link of this blog to your Significant Other as the HINT or just buy it for yourself. You’re going to love it!
I’ll be with Marie-Francoise Woolf at 12 noon tomorrow (Tuesday 26 Nov) with this fab bag, a whole host of other wonderful Kipling bags and a few other surprises too! Make sure you try and join me for that one – I’m excited because it’s my first Kipling show!
Last Thursday night I was reading a review blog post from my beauty blogger friend, Natalie about Merumaya, a new anti-ageing skincare range which many of the beauty magazine editors are raving about. Natalie quite liked what she’d tried and so I delved a little further to the Merumaya website and watched some videos of Maleka Dattu, the enterprising lady who founded the range after 30 years experience working for some big brands. The next day I was covering for Dale Franklin (who’s been off poorly the last few days) auditioning new guests for our shows: people who will be bringing new brands to QVC. It’s an incredibly exciting day, seeing how they come across on camera. Lo and behold who’s on my Guest Audition list? Only Maleka Dattu! Now do you think that’s fate or just a bizarre coincidence?
I was gobsmacked because I don’t know her, have never met her or even heard of her until the night before, so it was a thrill to meet her and find out more about her Integrative Effective Skincare Range. If my memory serves me correctly we’ll be introducing a Try Me kit with a great price tag and saving, which will include trial sizes of the Melting Cleansing Balm, Iconic Youth Serum, and the Youth Preservation SPF 15 Moisturiser, at some point early in the New Year. I will keep you posted because I think you’ll be impressed.
I tweeted this picture last week and was wondering what you think? Having not long lost my cat Conkers, God rest him, I stopped in my tracks when I saw a whole display of these toys just outside one of the exits of Hammersmith tube station in London.
‘Kitties’ and ‘puppies’ snuggled in their baskets with their bellies moving slowly up and down, they were ‘breathing’. All tiny furry creatures that seemed life-like a first glance. I got chatting to two other ladies who were also staring at the ‘pets’ about whether we thought they were realistic, and if they’d buy one. I thought they were cute but I still haven’t made up my mind as to if I’d buy one? Would you?
On Saturday I was back in Birmingham at what is very much seen as the ‘place to be’ in the city: Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse at The Cube in the city centre. It’s on Level 25 of the new development at the top of Hotel Indigo, with superb panoramic views of the second city. I was very organised in bringing 5 of my fabulous girlfriends together for late lunch and cocktails in the glamorous surroundings. It took weeks to plan. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window, and so we dined and watched the sunset. I was overwhelmed at how packed out the bar and restaurant was. It was continually busy, until we left at about 11pm: people are definitely getting in the swing of things, enjoying the festive atmosphere that’s so abundant in Birmingham right now.
It was such fun to put the world to rights and catch up with the latest gossip. Genelle, Liz, Sandra, Yvonne and Debra: each of these girls is amazing. From working in BBC News, to being in the challenging field of Social Work, to running their own burgeoning businesses, these wonderful ladies all give me inspiration. I also feel very blessed to have them in my life. Thanks, Ladies. Love you! Mwah!!
Tell me about your fabulous friends you have and why they mean so much to you? Plus, what do you think of that cat? Feel free to tweet me at @TVMarv or drop a note here on my blog or on my Facebook page.
