As you know, Kelly Hoppen has been a part of the QVC family for quite some time, but with her latest Today's Special Value going live on the 12th (and with column inches building regarding her recent stint as the newest judge on Dragons' Den), we thought you'd like to hear a bit more from the first lady of interior design herself!
Having had an award-winning career designing for a number of celebrity clients, Kelly's exquisite collection for QVC brings together neutral and harmonious palettes in chic designs intended to emulate her own unique personal style.
But to find out exactly what makes this week's six-piece Egyptian cotton mesh duvet set TSV so exceptional, we caught up with the interior designer and entrepreneur to get her thoughts on this and other design trends for the upcoming season…
What makes this month's TSV so special?
The TSV this time around is the Kelly Hoppen 800 thread count Egyptian cotton mesh weave six-piece duvet set! Bit of a mouthful but totally worth it. It is the epitome of luxury with its extra soft feel makes it ten times harder to leave your bed in the mornings and betters the feeling of getting into bed by 100!
How were you motivated to start your own brand?
I like to be my own boss and be in control of my business decisions. I'm very passionate about my work so having my own brand means I put all my effort and passion behind everything I do. I made my own choices and took my own risks. To have your own brand is something special, it is your own unique business that is created and evolved around your instincts and creative vision.
Any tips for budding entrepreneurs keen to follow in your footsteps and build a successful brand?
Of course – I would always say go with your gut instincts and take risks. Don’t be afraid to push the boundaries but make sure that your decisions are always backed up by great research, facts and figures. Listen and take advice from successful business people around you, first hand advice is always best.
What is your favourite piece from the Kelly Hoppen collection (sold at QVC) this season and why?
I love my bed linen from my QVC collection. I love the 600 or 700 thread count sheets and duvet covers, the more you wash the softer it becomes. My comfort must haves.
What do you like most about appearing on QVC?
I like to interact with my audience and have the opportunity to talk about my products. I'm passionate about what I've created and could talk about the products for hours, so appearing on QVC is brilliant. It's also a lot fun, I love the team at QVC, they are a great bunch and we always have a laugh.
What trends should we be looking out for this year?
Textured pieces are big this year, look out for sheep skin throws on the floor, cashmere covers for hot water bottles and items with mixed textures such as satin mixed with wool or linen mixed with boiled wool. Retro and vintage furniture will continue to always be a leading trend but perhaps with a splash of a modern theme, like old reclaimed wood mixed with modern lacquer shades like charcoal and grey. Accessories around the home will start to create more of an atmosphere, with stranger things being focal points of the room: bathroom taps, artworks, centre pieces, sculptures etc.
