Kelly Hoppen chats about Thursday’s TSV offer

Kelly HoppenAs you know, Kelly Hoppen has been a part of the QVC family for quite some time, but with her latest Today's Special Value going live on the 12th (and with column inches building regarding her recent stint as the newest judge on Dragons' Den), we thought you'd like to hear a bit more from the first lady of interior design herself!

Having had an award-winning career designing for a number of celebrity clients, Kelly's exquisite collection for QVC brings together neutral and harmonious palettes in chic designs intended to emulate her own unique personal style.

But to find out exactly what makes this week's six-piece Egyptian cotton mesh duvet set TSV so exceptional, we caught up with the interior designer and entrepreneur to get her thoughts on this and other design trends for the upcoming season…

A sneak peak at this week's TSV set! What makes this month's TSV so special?
The TSV this time around is the Kelly Hoppen 800 thread count Egyptian cotton mesh weave six-piece duvet set! Bit of a mouthful but totally worth it. It is the epitome of luxury with its extra soft feel makes it ten times harder to leave your bed in the mornings and betters the feeling of getting into bed by 100!

How were you motivated to start your own brand?
I like to be my own boss and be in control of my business decisions. I'm very passionate about my work so having my own brand means I put all my effort and passion behind everything I do. I made my own choices and took my own risks. To have your own brand is something special, it is your own unique business that is created and evolved around your instincts and creative vision.

Any tips for budding entrepreneurs keen to follow in your footsteps and build a successful brand?
Of course – I would always say go with your gut instincts and take risks. Don’t be afraid to push the boundaries but make sure that your decisions are always backed up by great research, facts and figures. Listen and take advice from successful business people around you, first hand advice is always best.

One of Kelly's favourite high thread count duvet setsWhat is your favourite piece from the Kelly Hoppen collection (sold at QVC) this season and why?
I love my bed linen from my QVC collection. I love the 600 or 700 thread count sheets and duvet covers, the more you wash the softer it becomes. My comfort must haves.

What do you like most about appearing on QVC?
I like to interact with my audience and have the opportunity to talk about my products. I'm passionate about what I've created and could talk about the products for hours, so appearing on QVC is brilliant. It's also a lot fun, I love the team at QVC, they are a great bunch and we always have a laugh.

A cream faux fur cushion from the Kelly Hoppen collection at QVCWhat trends should we be looking out for this year?
Textured pieces are big this year, look out for sheep skin throws on the floor, cashmere covers for hot water bottles and items with mixed textures such as satin mixed with wool or linen mixed with boiled wool. Retro and vintage furniture will continue to always be a leading trend but perhaps with a splash of a modern theme, like old reclaimed wood mixed with modern lacquer shades like charcoal and grey. Accessories around the home will start to create more of an atmosphere, with stranger things being focal points of the room: bathroom taps, artworks, centre pieces, sculptures etc.

I recently moved house and had the chance to redecorate my entire home, being a fan of Everything Kelly, I have made sure that all my walls, curtains and blinds compliment my Kelly Hoppen bedding. I have now managed to reach my goal of all my bedrooms being dressed in Kelly Hoppen bed linens, throws and cushions….I have three sets for my room! I have become possibly a bit boring in that I let all my guests know they will be sleeping on 600/700 thread count sheets and that it has been designed by Kelly. They all report a great night sleep and have to know where I have purchased it from.. My sister, mum and best friends have all been converted. I even actually like ironing the covers to make sure they look there very best and then love deciding what combinations I am going to put where this week.
I would now like more Kelly ornaments if possible…I recently purchased a large ginger jar that I spotted at an antique centre, having spotted it from across the store I was delighted that when I got close it had the KH logo…it had to be bought!
I have signed up for Kelly’s new Internet venture and hope the prices will be similar to the great QVC value, fingers crossed…. Thank you kelly for bringing us such great designs, brilliant quality at such affordable prices…..you and I have transformed my home into a tranquil and stylish place to be and I love it…

I love the way this range is so versatile, have become a taupe
convert now. Although I love to splash a little red or gold
in the mix to add a little colour, just the odd vase etc
Looking forward to the next show.
Will I ever get the chance to purchase the cushions with mother
    of pearl shells on ??
QVC keep flashing them up on the screen but they are all sold
out and I am unable to find them anywhere

I too am a convert to the elegant neutrals brought to QVC by Kelly. My purchases to date include several throws – just love them over the back of the sofa and at the foot of my beds – and matching cushions. I also highly rate her candles & buddha ornaments. On my wish list for future buys are a bronze vase, some luxury high thread count bedlinen and that chic coffee table design book signed by Kelly herself!

I have waited & watched for Kelly to make a VALANCE NOT a Valance sheet to match her Duvet Covers, but never ever seen one. Also I like a top sheet so how about thinking of others & doing this for people who also like a top sheet.
We change our sheets once a week, so if you do NOT have a top bed sheet, then you would need to change your Duvetcover every week as the same perspiration would be in the cover as on the sheet!! Also I would like a frill of sorts around the Duvet cover so it would hang longer & not end in mid air. Cant see any of this ever happening but it was worth a shot.

Love,Love,Love Kelly Hoppens Throws and bed linen, I have many Kelly throws in taupe ,cream and grey. Would love if Kelly designed a black throw to go with her black cushions. My favourite throw from the collection was one of the first one’s with a scalloped edge in a very pale taupe, the colour design and quality is simply stunning and I get compliments on it all the time as it lives on the arm of my sofa in my living room. Would really love a match for it for my bedroom or tv den. Please please ask Kelly and the buyers to consider bringing it back ,especially in BLACK, regard to Kelly and all at QVC, Colette O’Halloran.

Dear Kelly I have brought lots of your items ….. nearly 50 different items…..I enjoy watching you on qvc & I’ve also been watching you on dragons den (my 11 yr old son & 4 yr old daughter love to watch you aswell :0) ~ I have also brought them some bedding/throws etc…. from your range, they love everything so far!!!) & I enjoy listing to all your top tips… I have done up a few houses myself & always use neutrals it works well with any colour. We have sold our houses very quick, thanku for all your tips.
When I’ve gone into town in the past, I’ve looked at bedding with my mum, her comments ……How much money……..!!!!!!! just for one pillowcase starting from 600 t/c £36, she didn’t believe how much I’d paid for yours for 6 pieces with higher thread & kh name on it. In the end I told her to watch you on qvc, she’s over the moon with it all – she still can’t believe the prices for a top designer – to how much you could pay in places like John Lewis.
Thankyou Kelly you inspire thousands of people (one of them is me :0),
People come into my house & always comment on something, I don’t always tell them where i brought you from as I like to be a little different to other people, I’ve had quite afew family & friends say I want your house, it makes me feel proud ~ your my little secret …..! X
Can you please bring back the deep purple cushion – centre button in other autumn ~ winter colours mustard yellow ~ deep orange ~ deep blue & deep sea green, these colours would look amazing with your neutral bedding. Also more vases ~ flowers & lampshades. Thankyou for being on qvc & allowing everyone to benefit your very different, but beautiful range.
