I have enjoyed the most amazing break with my husband Olley and now I’m home and back on air at QVC.
After seeing our youngest child Billy off to work at summer camp in America, Olley and I crossed the channel and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. We travelled through France and Italy, stopping on the way to explore. We spent Olley’s birthday on the shores of Lake Como, before heading to the east coast of Italy to catch a ferry to Greece.
After spending time relaxing with friends in the beautiful island of Corfu, which we know really well having been holidaying there for 20 years, we headed to the much less well known area of Zagoria in northern mainland Greece, close to the Albanian border. It is mountainous, features the amazing Vikos Gorge, wonderful local villages and stunning clear water rivers which we swam in and rafted along.
Then it was back to Italy, with our ferry dropping us in Brindisi in the south. This meant we could continue something we started on our honeymoon, 29 years ago. Then we spent three weeks touring around Italy but we got no further south than the stunning Amalfi coast, leaving plenty that we didn’t see.
Starting in the heel of Italy this time gave us a chance to focus on the areas of Apuglia, Basilicata and Calabria, none of which either of us have been to before so we were discovering new delights together. Then it was to our old favourite Tuscany for a few days, before enjoying some mountains in the Gran Paradiso National Park near the Italian/French/Swiss borders as we headed home.
As I’m sure you can imagine we took hundreds of photos. I plan to make a memory album using many of them, but for now I’ve chosen a few to show you. I feel incredibly lucky that I’ve had the chance to enjoy so many beautiful places on such a long trip, and that Olley and I are even closer than we were on that wonderful honeymoon. Blessed indeed!
I’ll be back with another blog soon, bringing details of some of the exciting news we have for QVC’s first ever Fashion Month, which started this week. Watch this space if you love your clothes, but until then I hope this finds you well, and enjoying your summer.
