Taking time to relax during the Christmas rush

At this time of rushing around and never seeming to get to the end of my ‘to do’ list, I had half an hour to myself at the weekend which really lifted my spirits.

I took our bearded collie dog Barney for a jog in the woods and felt more ‘alive’ than I have for ages. The sun was out and there were plenty of squirrels for Barney to chase and smells to investigate. Meanwhile, I had a few moments to recharge my batteries and get some gentle exercise at the same time.

I don’t listen to an MP3 player – I like the quiet and enjoy the sound of a woodpecker drumming on a tree trunk, or the mewing of the red kites that circle above the fields on the edge of the woodland.

Relaxed and ready to face the day

It’s amazing how giving myself some time at the beginning of the day makes me much better humoured when the onslaught of life in the Olley family starts again! What with three busy children needing to be fed and watered, who have to be in different places at the same time, and want support for their sporting endeavours, it was a full day.

Let’s not forget all the planning and buying for Christmas – my responsibility! But my woodland jog with Barney put me in the right mood to cope with it all!

How do you unwind?

I wonder what you do to keep yourself sane when all around you are making demands on your time? Maybe a long bath with some gorgeous smelling bath gel from one of the ranges we feature at QVC, and some Yankee or Hanna’s candles creating a restful ambience while you lie back and breathe in deeply?

I can’t wait to receive my Elemis Today’s Special Value, which I ordered on Sunday. It contains the new Frangipani Monoi bath and shower cream which has one of the most beautiful fragrances I’ve ever smelt! Then I will forsake the woods for a soak behind a locked door!
