Wow, where on earth has the first five months of this year gone? I know I like to keep busy, but it doesn’t seem two minutes since we were celebrating New Year and now it’s summer, not that you would necessarily know it from the temperature. Thank goodness the new central heating system is working because, I have to confess, we have had it on a couple of mornings and evenings this week!
It’s been a busy week for me, particularly as I was working the whole of the Bank Holiday weekend and I needed to get the spare bedroom (pictured in my blog last week) ready for Daniel’s imminent arrival from Swansea on Monday afternoon. When I got home last Sunday, I cleaned the carpet with the Vax machine and crossed my fingers that it would be dry enough for Chris to move a bed in there the next morning while I was at QVC for the Got To Have It event.
I wonder if you treated yourselves? I bought Yankee Candle sets and the mega size of the This Works pillow spray! Sophie had been at a wedding, so called in at ours on the way home and we all had dinner together – a nice family end to the Bank Holiday.
On Tuesday I had to get my eyes checked to make sure all was okay with my contact lenses. I’ve been getting on pretty well with them really, only struggling on a couple of occasions to get them in, and no problems at all taking them out… touch wood!
I also bought a few bits and bobs for my forthcoming holiday before heading into London for the press night of Sideways at the St James theatre, which has been produced by Amy Anzel, our former no!no! guest.
I hadn’t seen the film or read the book, but the story was easy to follow and, in my humble opinion, it was well acted. Be warned, if you are thinking of going to see it, that there is some swearing and nudity but at times it was laugh out loud funny! Well done Amy – Miceal went on the same evening as me and I think he enjoyed it too.
I’ve also been busy signing and sending out the copies of my latest book ordered through Chapter One. If you would like a signed copy, check out the details on my website but if you want a personalised message there will be a little wait as I am on holiday for ten days from Sunday, getting back late in the evening before my trip to Ascot on the 16th June. I have been giving a little thought as to what to wear but undecided as yet – maybe Ronni Nicole or Onjenu London.
Whilst on the subject of fashion, I can’t believe I am missing Fashion Day on Thursday 9th June. I won’t be here, but I can highlight a few things for you in this week’s Focus on Fashion. The Today’s Special Value on the day is a patterned maxi dress from Kim & Co. It is a style which has been very popular for us before in solid colours of Black and Navy, below.
We’ve also got a couple of H by Halston shows on the day at 11am and 4pm. There are lots of new designs in the latest collection from this brand but a couple I thought you might particularly like are a sleeveless top in a fabric which is gorgeous to touch. It comes in five colour options; Lavender Sky, Ocean Blue, Palm Green, Navy and Terracotta and will be great with jeans, crops or pedal pushers this summer. There is also a really nice T-shirt dress with a cross layer at the back, which comes in Palm Green or Black.
If you would like a cardigan to wear over either of the H by Halston pieces or the Kim & Co Today’s Special Value maxi dress, I’ve picked out a couple of cardigans from Marble, on at 1pm on Fashion Day.
Here’s a three-button cardigan with pointelle detailing on the shoulders, cuffs and hemline. It comes in Aqua, Blush, Navy and White. There is also a more open, knit, lightweight cardi, in a choice of Black, Yellow, White and Cobalt. There will be lots of our other fashion brands featured on the day, so if you love QVC fashion put the date in your diary.
Well, Jewellery Month is now finished, but we have one more show in our current Spotlight on Jewellery series tonight at 6pm. Dominic Hill will be bringing us several pieces of Aurora jewellery with swarovski crystals, we have Links of London with guest Coral, Skagen and Diamonique with Alison O’Reilly, and Olivia Cox is stepping in for Josie to bring us Gossip Watches.
Speaking of watches, there is one final competition winner to announce for the Radley watch and loveRocks necklace from last week. Thanks to all of you who have entered the competitions over the past few weeks and commiserations if your name hasn’t been selected at random. However, it is congratulations to… Sue Cramp!
I’ll see you a little earlier than usual on QVC today as I am on at 2pm with a 21st Anniversary Elemis show with Keeley. I’ll be hot-footing it from a radio interview on Marlow FM at 10am where I’ll be taking part in their book club, talking about the Liberty Sands trilogy. I’ll try and put a link to it on here next week but in the meantime I wondered if you may be interested in hearing me read the first chapter of my new book which I have posted on YouTube.
So, as I’ve mentioned, I am off on holiday on Sunday for birthday celebrations. Yes, this time next week I will be entering a new decade! Thanks so much to those of you who have sent cards and presents – truly appreciated.
