Lots of birthdays to celebrate

Birthday cake OK, so where did Christmas and New Year go?? It all seemed to be over before it began! I had a quiet family Christmas with just the four of us, and an even quieter New Year. My mum and I toasted it with a sip of Baileys – well actually mine was quite a large sip, on the rocks!

And then the birthdays began… It all starts on January 2nd with one of my best friend's birthday, then I have my sister on the 5th, my niece Rachel on the 6th, my daughter Sophie on the 8th and niece Toogie on the 9th – what a week!

It was a big birthday for Sophie this year as she turned 21, and you wouldn't believe the difficulty we had in finding a boxed 21st birthday card. I know what you're thinking, I should've paid more attention to Dawn Bibby, then I could've made one myself!

Sophie didn't have a party as she and her best friend had a bit of a do for their 18th's, so we opted to take her out to dinner instead. I don't eat out in London that much so was wondering where to take her when I remembered a really nice Italian restaurant we visited in Manchester during our 'Search for a Presenter' auditions.

Luckily it has a sister restaurant in Knightsbridge called Signor Sassi. I booked it, and just to be sure, checked online to see what kind of reviews it had.

Imagine my surprise to discover that Lulu had celebrated her BIG birthday there last year. If it's good enough for Lulu then it's good enough for me! We had a lovely evening with attentive staff and tasty food – I wonder, have any of you eaten there?

See you all soon,
Julia. x.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father – I did not know about it until I saw it from another viewer.
Congratulations to your daughter on her 21st too.
I know you were a “big fan” of Molton Brown so why is it not on QVC anymore? I am so disappointed as I am sure many are. I was waiting for the Christmas TSV.

Hi Julia, it was my birthday on Tues 13th Jan and I was surprised not to receive a card from QVC considering how much I have spent with the company last year lol lol x
I had a quiet xmas as my children live with their father but my son came down to Devon this week so we have made up for lost time ha ha (he is now 24 and we just have a ball when we get together!!!)
I am still on the waitlist for the silver popcorn watch which I thought I might get in time for my birthday and was told that Feb is the next supply date so I am hanging on – just!
Anyway have a great new year – I have made a new year resolution not to spend so much on QVC this year but I have just treated myself to a lovely rose gold garnet ring (Jan birth stone) – so that did not last long. Take care have a fab year xxxxx
(ps. I had the Butler and Wilson Owl handbag and broach for xmas I had so many fab compliments – please pass this on to Simon!!!!)

    Hi Julia,
I really miss you when you are off the screen for a while. I really enjoy seeing you with Dale doing the jewellery shows, you two could be a double act. I think all the presenters on QVC are good, but you are my favourite. Maybe it is because we are of a similar age (me a bit older though).
    Keep up the good work.
I have lost both my Mum and my Step-dad so I know what you have been going through. Chin up, you will get over the loss, but you will always miss him (I did and still do).
I hope you and your family have a great 2009.
    Lots of love,

    Hi Julia
I was watching last night, loved the jewellery show by the way, when I heard you say how different it is once your children reach 21. I have a son who will be 28 in February and a daughter who will be 25 in April, I am the same age as you by the way and you are my inspiration!!! Both my children left home but have since come back to live with me. I find it so difficult not to mother them as I did when they were little and I still text them to see if they are ok when they are out. It drives them mad but I cant stop. My mother died when she was my age and I was only 24 so cannot ask her how she felt when I grew up. I think all mothers must feel the same. I dont think our children will ever seem more than eight to us.
Thanks for all the pleasure you bring.
PS I lost my Dad last year and i have found not having any parents alive very hard to deal with so maybe that is the same thing in reverse.

Hello Karen and thanks for your lovely compliments. I’m not a beauty expert so I can’t really offer you advice BUT I wonder if you have tried Decleor Hydratenseur. It’s a serum so may not be rich enough for you, but you could always use it in conjunction with an eyecream for extra hydration. Our beauty expert Ali Young has a dedicated beauty blog, so it may be worth asking her the question, as I’m sure she’ll be able to advise you.

Hello Tina, I love that ring which was one of my picks for Silver Day and sold out just from a brief mention, so obviously lots of us with similar taste! Can’t be too specific at this stage, but I understand that due to its popularity it could be coming back as a TSV fairly soon. I will try and keep you posted when I know for sure, so keep tuning in
