So tomorrow I am off to Wembley for the second time in a matter of weeks because Crystal Palace have reached the FA Cup Final for the first time since 1990.
Back then, I was a presenter for my local cable television programme, Cable Today, and I was assigned to interview the fans outside Selhurst Park who were travelling to Wembley on coaches. I am hoping for a different outcome this time round but actually, as long as Palace perform well, I’m just immensely proud that my team have reached the final after a season peppered with injuries.
Speaking of Cable Today, where I first cut my teeth as a TV presenter, that was where I met Debbie Flint, pre-dating QVC by some three years. I always remember Debs coming to my dressing room at QVC before her audition for a bit of last-minute reassurance. Well, the tables were turned last night at the RNA summer party. Debs is a veteran of the Romantic Novelists’ Association but I am a newbie, having only fulfilled the criteria to join in January this year.
She was nominated for an award, having gone through the RNA new writer’s scheme and gone on to be published with Choc Lit. It was great to have someone introducing me to fellow authors as, believe it or not, I am really shy in those situations.
By the way, It’s Never Too Late To Say… is now available to pre-order in both Kindle and paperback – check www.juliarobertsbooks.co.uk, my Twitter account @JuliaRobertsQVC, or my Facebook page @JuliaRobertsTV for more information. Publication day is this coming Thursday 26th May so am feeling a mix of excitement and nerves at the moment.
Both Debs and I received compliments on our dresses last night. She was wearing a Kim & Co maxi and I was in one of my favourite Trinny and Susanna dresses. That leads us nicely into this week’s Focus on Fashion.
Next week we have the Nina Leonard Today’s Special Value, it is our first maxi dress Today’s Special Value of the year and unbelievably is priced at under £30! It comes in a choice of four prints which are all quite different so you may even be tempted with more than one at that price. It is sleeveless and I know that some of you are not so keen so there is a great, lightweight, short-sleeved bolero in co-ordinating colours. Chambray and Mocha are the new colours but it also comes in Black and Natural and, again, is under £30.
Prior to the Nina Leonard Today’s Special Value, we have shows from Michele Hope on Monday and Tuesday. I’ve picked out a couple of things I thought you might like. This striking burnout stripe duster comes in black, mink and navy. The picture shows it buttoned up but I think it would also look great worn open, cardigan-style, and would be super for your holiday. It could be worn as a swimsuit cover-up in the day and then night-time over crops and a cami or a simple shift dress – it’s very lightweight to pack too. There is also this really pretty brand new cardigan available in five summer shades of Mink, Green, Pink, Royal Blue and Soft Lemon, all with a bit of sparkle. I think my favourite is the Lemon, but I like all the colours really.
So… time to announce the winner of last week’s Jewellery Month competition. Thanks to all of you who entered, but the congratulations go to Denise Thomson, who correctly said that Rome is the capital of Italy and was picked at random this morning. Your Bronzo Italia earrings will be on their way to you soon.
Bronzo Italia is one of the brands featuring on tonight’s Spotlight on jewellery show at 6pm but we are also celebrating Lola Rose‘s thirteenth anniversary with QVC. Unfortunately, Nicki is unable to join us tonight but she will be guesting the many shows over the weekend. Don’t tell her that I will be giving you the first look at a couple of new designs and also featuring the popular Helio bracelet, back in stock from September, in two new colour options.
How appropriate that this week’s competition prize should also be a watch. It is this beautiful Anne Klein bracelet watch, valued at £60, which would match very nicely with your Bronzo Italia earrings Denise, but maybe someone else should win!
The question is:
Which animal is featured in the Anne Klein logo?
All you have to do is leave your answer in a comment on here before midnight on Thursday 26th May, then a randomly selected winner will be announced in my next blog on the 27th – go online here to see the full terms and conditions, good luck!
I am off this weekend – tomorrow Wembley beckons for the FA Cup Final and on Sunday we are moving Sophie into her new flat so that the building work can start on our house.
My on-air hours are:
5pm Fashion on Friday with Radley
6pm Spotlight on Jewellery
Thurs 26th (publication day)
4pm Peony Flowers (Today’s Special Value)
5pm Nails Inc
Have a lovely weekend,
