Hello! Hope you are well and welcome to this, my first blog of February!
So, how was the start of your year? I must admit I do find January a tough month to get through and this year in particular, I did rather struggle with low mood and very low energy. Rather than get too down in the dumps I have tried to get a bit more rest, do lots of yoga and get out in the fresh air as often as I could.
Another thing I have been trying to do this month is make more food from scratch. I am not the best in the kitchen, as Simon Brown says I ‘assemble’ rather than cook. I bought a Morphy Richards Soup Maker from QVC last year and have been trying out recipes from the internet and this broccoli soup (made from onions, garlic, coconut butter, olive oil, veg stock and broccoli) is delicious! I made it for a vegan friend and added a touch of creme fraiche made from oats and lots of black pepper, delicious!
Never fear though, it’s not all wholesome soups chez Craig. I bought these Whittard Hot Chocolate Melting Spoons in a special Christmas pack from QVC and on a dreary afternoon they are a real treat (I eat the molten chocolate spoon before it’s completely melted – yum!).
What are your winter survival techniques?
Had a wonderful time with my family this weekend; Jasmine came to London to celebrate her 15th birthday (where does time go?!). She brought a friend with her so it was a mixture of movies, shopping and visiting her favourite Pizza Express on the South Bank opposite St. Paul’s Cathedral. Then we all went back to Bristol to celebrate my mum and dad’s birthdays too – lots of January birthdays in my family!
And the BIG news now – Gtech is back! After a while of not being available at QVC, the incredible British brand is back with a Today’s Special Value that I will be launching at midnight this Saturday into Sunday. It’s their latest and improved AirRam model which has really made many of us realise that a cordless vacuum isn’t just a secondary option any more. It can actually be our main vacuum, plus it gets the job done so quickly and easily!
I have been lucky enough to try one out and it’s brilliant! I have a mixture of laminate floor, carpet and tiles and it’s done a great job on all of them without me ever having to change settings or turning a dial – I just press the on button with my foot and we’re away.
The new model feels really powerful too and I have always been a fan of the light at the front, no escape for the dust bunnies that collect under my sofa bed. I think my favourite new feature is the newly-designed empty function; the new AirRam compresses all the dirt and then with one slide of a button, the dirt glides into the bin without you ever having to touch it – brilliant! Like previous models, it’s still super lightweight and it now runs for up to 40 minutes. Do join me and our expert guest on Sunday so we can show you lots, lots more!
So, that’s it for now but I will leave you with a couple of cheery photos:
My neighbour bought me some daffodils a few days ago and I was reminded how cheery and uplifting these bright yellow flowers are on these dark winter days, with their promise of brighter days to come. I put them in a little vase I bought at a craft fair on the drawers where my Alison Cork tea-light holder and Dyson heater sit.
And talking of bright days, I took this picture the other day on the way to the tube, it had come after a run of really dreary days, such a refreshing change to see the blue sky!
Bye for now, see you on air soon and as always big, big hugs,
