A trip down Memory Lane and a QVC blooper!
Hope you are all well! I've just got back from a flying visit to my mum's in Ireland. She moved into a new apartment before Christmas but this was the first chance I've had to take a trip over, so it was fantastic to see her and her lovely new home.
She's been doing lots of clearing out and dug out some old photos, many of which I hadn't seen for years, so we had a right old trip down Memory Lane. Here's one of me as a toddler - note my natural hair colour, which is almost black! I've been blonde for so many years now I'd almost forgotten how dark it used to be. And yes, I do look like a small boy! I was quite tomboyish when I was small.
Mum also dug out a letter I wrote to Santa Claus when I was about five. It made me laugh - can you imagine children these days asking for fruit for Christmas? Apple means a whole different thing these days, doesn't it?!
I was born in Coventry but both my parents are Irish, and they moved us (them and five children by that point!) back to Ireland when I was nine. I stayed until after university and then moved back to the UK, but I go back regularly as most of my family live there.
Luckily, some of my best school and university friends also moved to the UK and I caught up with Judith, my oldest friend (we've been mates since we were 12!), last week in London.
We went to see the musical adaptation of Matilda in the West End. Oh my goodness, what a fantastic production! The music, the choreography, the effects, the super-talented cast... all superb. Definitely recommended.
Now, one of the reasons I love working at QVC is that we have such fun on air, and as with all live television we can have some of our funniest moments when things go wrong. In case you missed this very amusing episode during one of my recent Nina Leonard shows with the hilarious Lenny, here it is.
As you will know, we have lots of details on the screen, including colour options for the various items. In this clip, a bizarre computer error turned what should have been the simple colour 'green' into something very odd indeed - have a look!
You may know that March is Jewellery Month on QVC - all month long you'll be seeing some of our best loved brands and some exciting new ranges. I love fine jewellery, especially diamonds and morganite, but I'm a big fan of fashion jewellery too - it's such an affordable way of changing the look of an outfit and adding a touch of style.
I love the Nour range, and you'll be seeing me wearing a lot of this during March - here's just a small sample of the gorgeous pieces in the range! Look out for Nour shows during the month.
Finally, I did promise a new giveaway competition around now and I'm not one to go back on my word, but I've noticed there are competitions running on a couple of other presenters' blogs at the moment so I thought I'd delay mine slightly! I'll run it next month to celebrate my birthday instead. The good news is that gives me more time to accumulate extra prize goodies, so it'll be worth waiting for!
As always, I love to hear from you so leave a comment on this blog (see below) or get in touch on Twitter - I'm @jackiekabler.
Have a fabulous week!
