I’ve road-tested the new George Foreman grill

George Foreman grill I just want to tell you about our fantastic Today's Special Value from George Foreman.

I bought the first George Foreman 'Lean Mean Fat-reducing Grilling Machine' years back, when George came to QVC for the UK launch of his healthy grills.

It's still going strong, used on a near daily basis as the easiest way for my three teenagers to satisfy their post-school hunger, and a quick and low fat solution for me to cook many of our family meals.

But I think I'll have to upgrade! The latest model is on QVC at a tremendous price, (until it sells out!) and unlike mine it has a variable temperature control, removable washable plates and can cook pizza from frozen.

I borrowed it for an evening and decided to try the pizza plate as I know how versatile the grilling plates are already.

Charlie and Hannah tucking into the tortilla I made Charlie and his girlfriend Hannah a tortilla in a matter of minutes. I chopped a potato, (didn't bother to peel it) tossed it in a little olive oil and put it in the hot grill, which only takes a minute or so to heat up. I added some chopped pepper, ham and frankfurter (just what I had in the fridge) and cooked for a few minutes before pouring in some beaten eggs.

With the lid closed this cooked for a few minutes and it was ready to serve. Delicious!

Billy with his homemade pizza Then my mini chef Billy decided to have a go. He found a recipe for pizza dough on the internet and made his own base. Tomato puree, grated cheese, chicken and ham went on top and his homemade pizza was cooking away courtesy of George Foreman. You can see for yourself in my photos it came out a treat.

So easy to use and clean, great for any family – I wouldn't be without my George Foreman grill!

Happy eating.

Isn’t it lovely to see Ollie actually starting from scratch and making his pizza—it would have been so easy for him just to heat one up from the freezer. Maybe we shall see him demonstrating it live on telly or QVC one day. This is how I got my grandson, Henry, wanting to help in the kitchen. And that was with EasiYo!!!!!

    Hi Granny Mo!
I agree – from pizza to EasiYo to anything – the more interest children take in what they are eating and how it’s made, the better. Good on Henry!
Billy loves to cook, and is planning to have his own worldwide chain of eating places when he’s older – called Billy’s Bars!!
    Take care

    Hi Joanne
The recipe I made was really just making it up as I went along, and I never wrote it down, but from what I can remember it was:
Ready-rolled puff pastry from a packet. Spread some pesto over it, leaving a border around the edge. Cut butternut squash into small cubes, about half-inch pieces. You don’t need to cut off the peel. (You could use sweet potato if you prefer.) Slice a red onion, add to the squash and scatter over the pesto. Put this in the over at about 200C for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cut feta cheese into pieces. After 20 minutes, sprinkle the cheese and some pinenuts over the flan, and cook for a further 5 to 10 minutes until it’s ready to serve.

Hi Kathy, have to say that you looked lovely with your hair off your face but when you were in the blue Kim and Co outfit you looked positively stunning – the dress and colour suited you perferctly. Wear dresses and blue more often. You will look amazing in your new outfit.
