I bought the first George Foreman 'Lean Mean Fat-reducing Grilling Machine' years back, when George came to QVC for the UK launch of his healthy grills.
It's still going strong, used on a near daily basis as the easiest way for my three teenagers to satisfy their post-school hunger, and a quick and low fat solution for me to cook many of our family meals.
But I think I'll have to upgrade! The latest model is on QVC at a tremendous price, (until it sells out!) and unlike mine it has a variable temperature control, removable washable plates and can cook pizza from frozen.
I borrowed it for an evening and decided to try the pizza plate as I know how versatile the grilling plates are already.
I made Charlie and his girlfriend Hannah a tortilla in a matter of minutes. I chopped a potato, (didn't bother to peel it) tossed it in a little olive oil and put it in the hot grill, which only takes a minute or so to heat up. I added some chopped pepper, ham and frankfurter (just what I had in the fridge) and cooked for a few minutes before pouring in some beaten eggs.
With the lid closed this cooked for a few minutes and it was ready to serve. Delicious!
Then my mini chef Billy decided to have a go. He found a recipe for pizza dough on the internet and made his own base. Tomato puree, grated cheese, chicken and ham went on top and his homemade pizza was cooking away courtesy of George Foreman. You can see for yourself in my photos it came out a treat.
So easy to use and clean, great for any family – I wouldn't be without my George Foreman grill!
