A showering cat and how to approach the birds and the bees!

8

SherbertIt's time to introduce you to Sherbert, Colonel Sherbert to be precise! He's finally reached the age, well, almost just 2 days to go, when he can go outside and quite frankly it can't come soon enough!

He spends HOURS sitting at the kitchen window eyeing up the birds in the front garden and makes a funny clicking sound whilst twitching his entire body – he's going to have a ball!

However, I was always led to believe cats hate water? Not this one. I turn on the kitchen tap and he races over, leaps to the side of the sink and sticks his head under it!

Sherbert and TynorNot only that, he likes to dip his feet in the dog's water bowl and then suck his toes (don't ask), loves to balance on the side of the loo and always joins in when the bath is running – truly a mental cat.

But then it seems that no one is normal in my family, animal OR human, but as you can see it's a happy mix as I often come home to find both dog and cat cuddled up to each other!

Are you all enjoying our Christmas footage?

Pipa and Bruno TonioliBruno nearly broke my back on the dance moves we pulled but it absolutely made my year, other than when he told me that Anne Widdecombe was better than me!

Now I know Christmas is everywhere, however we still have birthdays on the go and I am SOOOOO proud of the birthday cake I made for Myles last week who turned 9 (yes, 9!). It's a Lego vampire castle cake which I presented to him as he sat doing his homework on the kitchen table.

Lego cakeHis response was this, word for word, "Wow Mum that's soooo cool, thank you soooo much. I can't wait for my birthday tomorrow. How does a Daddy put a seed in a Mummy?"

No idea how that thought process came about but now you can see that it's not only my brain that goes off in tangents, it's clearly in the genes!

Myles 9th birthday cropAnyway, time to go I've a best woman speech to write. Never done one before and quite frankly I'm rather nervous. Not only that, I'm also doing my friend's make up for her big day. We did a dummy run the other night whilst watching Moonraker and eating delicious homemade curry.

Fingers crossed it'll all be ok. I have to say I was chuffed to bits with the transformation of her skin. New Cid Foundation ROCKS with a touch of Jemma Kidd highlighter, plus once her eyes were done she looked amazing. Let's hope we can repeat this weekend!

Myles’ cake is amazing! How did yu do that? You and Ali K are amazing bakers!!! Btw I want to ask your opinion as you are so funky. What nail polish should be put on toes to go with an emerald dress??? Thanks!

    Hi Pipa,
Like the showering cat story and I have 4 cats with me at home. Davison, black, brown persian & mother & daughter trio Cherub with look alike daughter Cupid and Jasmine the odd one out silver tabby and they too like the weather be it sun, rain(even if it’s monsoon type), snow anything. Davison is a cat from next door literally that adopted us when we moved in our present house over 7yrs ago which is nice. You could say we gained a cat and lost a mortgage as when we bought the house we paid it off due to my in-laws passing away the year before.
Keep up the good work you’re one of my favourite presenters.

Hi ladies, Susan …I wish I could take the great baker badge and wear it with pride but really it was very simple. I made two square cakes of different sizes, sat one on top of the other then made a huge amount of chocolate butter icing and decorated it. ….it was yummy though and lasted AGES!!!! Best woman speech was really fun thank you ….and there were loads of laughs which was a relief!
Theresa, an emerald dress …so many options!! It’s festive season so you could go with classic deep red on the toes (Leighton Denny Monroe or Infatuation are both beautiful) …if you want something more funky though, I’d do a grey …personally I like to go high gloss but no shimmer on the toes, that’s my personal preference though. Red Carpet Manicure grey is absolutely brilliant if you have that system, but any mid to dark grey would be gorgeous …teamed up with silver jewellery perhaps. xx

Hi Pipa, watched you today and loved your dress, I rang QVC to ask if it was from QVC but they told me that the presenters often wear their own clothes. It looked very classy, it looked like a grey flowery sleeveless shift dress, would love to know where you bought it. Love your new hair style too. I am aware you are a very busy lady.
    Thanks Norma x

Hi Pipa, you are looking fabulous with the new haircut. Any chance of a close-up photo of it, please as I am just about to have mine cut and would dearly love to have a similar style
    Many thanks

Hi Norma …sorry I’m about 4 months late answering you ….but it was from Next Directory! …useless info at this point I realise! Huge apologies, I must get in the habit of checking comments on blogs previous to the current one …if that makes sense!! Diane, I reckon the same goes for you, huge apologies again ….I highly doubt you’re after a close up of my mop top at the moment …were you pleased with your cut in the end?? xx
