I’m LOVING the run up to Christmas this year, it feels exciting, it feels special and I’m in control!! Oh drat I said that out loud. Let’s hope the mischievous fairies do not decide I must pay for such smugness and sprinkle mayhem and disasters all around!
The presents are wrapped which I think has never happened before. I remember one wet and cold Christmas Eve, I was working at the Dominion Theatre in London and in between the matinee and the evening show I was trawling Tottenham Court Road in blind panic searching for lovely gifts. Thank goodness I didn’t have my three then, I’m not sure their faces would light up quite as much as I hope they will this year.
That said DISAPPOINTMENT will be present, in fact she is almost purposefully invited – Maddie wants, yes WANTS an iPhone 6 in rose gold no less (grrrr that word “May I have” or “I would like” are far better choices of phrase aren’t they? Though I must admit to a fair few ‘wants’ in my life too if I’m an honest girlie!!! ) I can tell you that MISS DISAPPOINTMENT will be hovering over her when she opens a second hand iPhone 5. It is super hard bringing up children in this world of plenty – an iPhone 5 is a fantastic thing and I’m fearful that they are privy to sooooo much. MISS EXPECTATION is a regular visitor to our house but luckily and hopefully on Christmas Day MISS GRATEFUL will preside over us all!
It’s been a lovely time with lots going on and in fact I’m just sitting down after a huge get ready as one of my dearest and oldest friends is arriving any moment now. The children, I must publicly announce, have been superstars and the house is ready with everyone helping – team work at its finest! Once anyone has arrived I’m fine, it’s just for the TA DA moment I want it all to be nice!
Tom and I went to the O2, an early Christmas present to see Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball. Tom was thrilled to see the Coca Cola truck there and just loved the show, the pair of us hollering oh so loudly when Justin Bieber came on! Little Mix, Sigma, Ellie Goulding…oh they were all so good, it was worth it to see his happiness. The thing is will he have retained that when on Christmas Day he realises that was his gift from us?!
I took the boys skating but was soooo nervous after Jackie’s escapades last year. I was totally rubbish and in fact said to Maddie she wasn’t allowed to go – panto season has started. I’ve just seen the show for the first time, it was marvellous and has put me in just the right mood for a Christmas Party we are just off to, “Oh no it hasn’t… Oh yes it has!”
I shall be on air with you on the 23rd, I’m hoping my gorgeous Alison Keenan is well again and will be sharing the show with me. I shall see you on Boxing Day and the following day and then back in from the 3rd January after what will have been a full-on house full of visitors. I shall tell you more in my next blog!
Actually I shall also massively look forward to introducing you to NIOD, QVC’s winner as we looked for a new beauty brand to join the prestigious hall of beauty here at QVC. I had the great privilege of getting to know Nicola Kilner our guest for NIOD as we premiered the show on the Beauty Channel. Nicola is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate and it was amazing discovering all the differences NIOD offers with its highly technical and scientific approach. It is skincare for the hyper educated, who unreservedly put science first to ultimately better serve you, their consumer with their best skincare yet. In the six months since NIOD premiered, they are already winning awards for technical advancement and innovation and have received accolades from some of the best industry experts.
More to follow as I share my favourites from NIOD ahead of its launch on QVC’s live channel towards the end of January.
I hope all is well with you and you have enjoyed our shows over this festive time. No mulled wine but somehow a tad more giddiness occurs with all our fabulous guests and models, not to mention our always phenomenal crew whom we value so very much, they know our little idiosyncrasies and care for us so well at all times of the year.
I would like to wish each and every one of you a special Christmas and may peace and goodwill preside over you all (along with Miss Grateful!!!)
With much love and sparkly wishes this Christmas,
