It’s great to be a girl!

Catherine's ghd hairstyle #1 I've always loved playing with make-up, hair and generally experimenting with style. This Sunday I'm in for a real treat, as are you if you tune in for our exciting Big Brand Day! I'll be with you for three very girly hours!

At 2pm I'll be joined by style icon Lulu Guinness MBE for an hour of her scrumptious accessories. Since we launched the range together on QVC I have become a true Lulu devotee!

I bought her red patent purse to begin with, then my partner, Steve, bought me her red patent 'Carmella' bag and I have to admit to treating myself to the same one in black as I adore the design so much! I now have the black patent purse on my wish-list to go with it. Look out for some Easy Pay options during the show too.

Catherine's ghd hairstyle #2 At 4pm, we'll be taken on a tour of the ghd Style Lounge. I have long been a fan and had a bit of a play with one of the new stylers and styling products, as you can see in the pictures.

ghd is now a household name and many styling tools are now referred to as ghd's in much the same way as vaccuum's are often referred to as Hoovers. These are the original, the real thing! Tune in to see what all the fuss is about.

One of my favourite brands at QVC is Diamonique. At 5pm we'll be looking at some gorgeous pieces from the Epiphany Platinum Clad range. I have lots of this range as I adore the sparkle and the designs but, best of all, the prices are sterling silver prices but the look is platinum and diamonds.

Catherine's ghd hairstyle #3Tell me what you think of these brands. Do you love your sparkle? Do you have a Lulu Guinness bag? What about ghd products? Are you one of those girls who says you cannot live without them? Leave a comment below, it's really easy and I love seeing what you have to say.

Catch you soon,

Catherine x

Hi Catherine. I just had to comment on the new hair colour! Its fab and suits your skintone perfectly. I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know your colourist and which salon. Many many thanks, Christine

I just love reading all your blogs—-it makes me feel as if I am part of the QVC family. I would love to know a bit more about the backroom activities—where do the presenters of the late show go when they are back in for the Morning Show—-do you have a guest suite for them to stay in? Have you got a resident beautician and hairdresser and could we have a peep into one of your dressing rooms???????

Hi Christine, thanks for your kind comments on the hair. I couldn’t resist going blonde again! My hairdresser is Richard Ward ( and Adam is my colourist. You may have seen Richard Ward on GMTV. He’s on a lot and is very very good. I’d highly recommend them, not least because of their massage chairs!
Granny Mo (love your name). Thanks for your kind words and great suggestions. I will take my camera into work and see if I can some behind the scenes shots for you and, maybe, a little gossip, too! Watch this space!

Hi Catherine. Like you i love make up too and nail colours. I am always changing my colour (totally addicted to Nails inc) to match my outfit. I think my husband thinks i’m mad. I love the Diamonique range too. I am getting quite a collection of the silver diamonique. I bought my Mum some Diamonique veronese and she love them. We are two avid QVC viewers. I find it keeps me company and is nice change from the radio at times.
Jewellery and makeup are the perks of being a girl so we should make the most of it.
One thing i would like to ask you Catherine. Please can you tell me how you manage to get you nails so long and strong looking.

I’m sorry to disagree,Catherine, but i much prefer your hair dark and in a suits your “fifties glam” style so well, and flatters your face.

Hi Catherine, Sorry to say it, but afraid I’m with Sarah Webb on your new hair look. Your dark bobbed hair was absolutely stunning on you. Although mine is bobbed and (coloured) dark as the grey is taking over, I always admired yours and wished mine could look half as good. You just look so different, I can’t get used to how different it makes you look …. us brunettes should stick together (chemically enhanced or not) 🙂

Hi Rebecca, it is fab fun to be a woman, we have so much choice when it comes to playing around with different looks. I have OPI’s Nail Envy to thank for my nails. It did take time for them to get so strong but there was almost a daily difference in them as I persevered! I love all of our colour ranges but there is one top coat I cannot be without and it seems to give the look of gel nails – Seche Vite. Apply it thick and it’s like a rich glaze and seems to act as a shield of armour protecting the nails, too!
Sarah, thanks for your comments on my hair. I must admit I did love my hair dark but the greys were creeping in and, after a consultation with Richard Ward, it seemed a good option to go lighter again. It’s still a work in progress, too. About half way to what it will be, much more golden. I think maybe I should have a wig wardrobe so I can change my hair to suit my outfit! Hee hee.
Annette, as I say I did love that look but a few factors came into it and here I am ‘all change’ once again. I am happy with it but am looking forward to when it’s more soft gold. I’ve had a bit of a hard time and the hair has actually made me feel a bit better, something else to focus on. As my lashes are still brunette I hope I can have a foot in both the blonde and brunette camps!
    Love Catherine x

Hi Catherine – I loved your hair dark too. You looked stunning so I was shocked to see you blonde recently. My husband even commented on how much we look alike when you were dark.
Go back to a brunette. You really did look lovely.

    Hi Catherine,
Have missed not seeing you on QVC but I hope that you had a fab holiday?
Thank you for the tips with regards to nail products. Mine to are now long and strong and love trying new colours.
Could I ask you which nail colour you mostly wear for jewellery shows as your nails look stunning. It’s an off white creamy colour but seems to give a nice coverage and looks fab!!!
Thanking you in advance and keep up the great work Catherine.
    Karen. X
