Wow, I can't believe it is our 2nd anniversary already! It's nearly Christmas too, which is even more exciting as it's peak time for the Disney watches from Ingersoll. If you didn't know, we were the first company in the world to introduce a watch with Mickey Mouse on the dial back in 1933.
The re-launch of this concept with QVC has given me the chance, as the brand designer and originator, to present all the new releases to QVC viewers before anyone else in the UK and sometimes in the World. You are often the first to see them!!
We've got a very special December show lined up, with the launch of the new models in the collection that we call "The Golden Years of Disney Watches" – inspired by the case styles of the 50s and 60s. They feature a classic look, with colour ways that work so well with today’s style-conscious public.
Of all the brilliant shows in which I have had the privilege to present these great watches, the Christmas show is always my favourite. There is such a very special atmosphere – with many lines completely selling out during this festive hour. The reason, of course, is that they make the ideal seasonal gifts for those people who want to give something personal and show a real originality and good taste.
For me, the whole range we present is very special, as I have worked closely with the Walt Disney Company to make them totally authentic. I must mention however some items you must really look out for.
I love this limited edition 40cm Mickey wall clock with moving Mickey sculpted hands. Only 3,000 have been made for the whole world and individually numbered with the UK’s allocation of 500 being totally snapped up by QVC. With demand so high from the October show, we have managed to pull back some quantity from Japan and Australia so more can be seen on the Christmas show.
The Minnie Mouse and now Mickey Mouse diamante watches are extra-special and are back by popular demand too. The character dial icon is completely made from coloured crystals and set in a crystal case. A great gift option with that added sparkle!
The Golden Years Rotators are something to seek out. Like the very first Mickey watch in 1933, the seconds are shown on a rotating disc. But with the new 37mm unisex case, these are quartz accurate battery operated, so the disc is continually rotating. On the dial with Mickey as the centre, a two dimensional Minnie is chasing round on the disc. With the Minnie version, quite rightly Mickey is chasing round 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Has to been seen! Great fun. As with all the Golden Years collection, the packaging is our modern interpretation of the very famous Blue Disney presentation box used for all Disney watches in the USA in the 50s and early 60s.
I’m very excited about the collection we have on offer for the show, so be sure to tune in on December the 5th. I welcome viewers to phone in and ask me about the watches or to advise them what to buy for friends or family too!
