Sorry I’ve been off the radar for a few weeks, but it’s been all hands to the pumps with the move to our new home in Chiswick, west London. It has also been a bit frantic with gardens growing like crazy, children with chicken pox, car trouble, visitors and new bathroom!
I have been over to our new studios a few times to rehearse and test things and it’s been great. Everything is new and sparkly but it's amazing how much needs tested before we go live in about a week or so. I managed to evacuate the whole building at 7am last week by having a shower. The showers in our dressing room have a drain that doesn’t work (Anna flooded that!) so I was testing out the one in the guest area).
Unfortunately it didn’t seem to have any cold water, so I thought I would just dance around a bit and try not to get scalded. However, the steam managed to set of the fire alarm (we have sensitive ‘sniffers’ apparently!) and a voice told me to "leave the building!" I now know where all the fire escapes are and we know how long it takes to clear the building!! All part of the test process!
I’ve been back again and found a new place to take my morning run (Gunnersbury Park). I was absolutely blown away. London has some amazing parks and Gunnersbury is bigger than Battersea and very beautiful with an old dilapidated church on the side of a small lake and at 6.30am in the early morning sun, I wished I had a camera.
Back on the home front ma wee girl called me today to say "Dad, I’ve got chicken pox" and she does, so I’ll be buying a quart of Calamine lotion on the way home. It’s going round her school so I suppose it's good she gets it when she's young (one of my directors told me she had just had it and it's not nice when you are an adult).
I’ve got the new bathroom finished and no leaks so that’s good! The car is fixed – good, the grass is cut, so all I need now is a holiday! I only have three more days at our old home and then I will have to get a pitch fork out to sort out the dressing room before loading the car and moving – happy days!
Take care and see ya soon
