Pipa Gordon OPI

It’s always tea time in Wonderland!

Pipa Gordon OPI

What a fabulous surprise it was to come into work last week to be greeted by the OPI team saying “would you like us to do your nails?” I so rarely get the chance to go and get a professional manicure that I sprang at the opportunity… PLUS it was with tea and cakes, so it would be plain rude not to!

OPI cupcakes

Little did I know the surprise in store for me. As a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, I was delighted to see that OPI have teamed up with the launch of the latest movie “Alice Through The Looking Glass” and done a truly fantastic collection of nail colours.

Unlike my usual choices, I went for the gorgeous powder blue. I love the idea of blue nails and yet whenever I put them on, within minutes I regret it ….but there’s just something fantastical about this shade and I have to say, I’m glad I stuck with it as six days later it’s still going strong and I’m loving it!

I have always loved having a bit of Alice here and there in my life, there’s something utterly wonderful about it, magical, quirky and downright odd – it makes me think a lot and smile a lot and I’m sure has had quite an influence in my DNA along the way! I’ve had this bottle of wine for years … no one is allowed to drink it, despite what it says on the label!

Tea set

And who remembers Cardew teapots at QVC? I think we had them about 12/13 years ago and I’ve treasured this set since then. I have 4 cups and saucers don’t worry so if you drop in for a cuppa we will be fine… the sugar pot is knocking around somewhere too, as the Mad Hatter said “it’s always tea time…”

The OPI set is a limited edition at an amazing price and comes in a fab box so grab it while you can!!

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with two of my favourite quotes from Alice, I love them all, but these ones in particular ….

 Alice: “Have I gone MAD?”

Mad Hatter “I’m afraid so, You’re entirely BONKERS.

But I’ll tell you a secret …

ALL THE BEST PEOPLE ARE!”

And I’ll leave you with this to chew on…

 Alice: “This is impossible”

Mad Hatter: “Only if you believe it is”

 Enjoy your tea …

Pipa xx

PS I need to give you one more, this time from the Cheshire Cat “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there”

…just fantastic stuff

    Hi Pippa
I just love your blog. Nails are my thing! I have multiple sclerosis and as I am sure you can imagine fatigue, mobility and sight are challenging for me but I always feel so uplifted when I do my nails which I do on a weekly basis. Manicured nails just makes me feel beautiful – as do diamonds!!!

Jewellery, diamonds in particular, is my next love and my husband has spoilt me over the years with fabulous diamond jewellery especially rings. I absolutely love your jewellery – I always keep an eye out for what rings you might be wearing that day. It all looks so incredibly stylish.

I too like Alice in Wonderland – a world of make believe – we should all have a little bit of that in our lives sometimes.

Anyway, I look forward to your next blog and seeing you on air.

    God bless

    Ruth

I do think sometimes those little things such as having lovely looking nails can make a huge difference to the way we feel and I’m glad to hear your hubby clearly cherishes you. Lots of love to you both, Pipa xx

    Hi Pippa
Loving your nails and your blogs in general as I also had a pony for 20 years, until she sadly passed away of old age. I miss my Bonney greatly so I’ll be keeping tabs on your new venture.
I watched you recently on a qvc show and you were wearing a pair of beautiful black wedge sandals, where did ya get them ? I love them.
    Thanks
    Melanie

Hiya Melanie, thanks for your message, what a sad story losing your Bonney after such a long time together, it must indeed have been very difficult. Even now after just a few months I feel that Beth and I have really bonded well, just yesterday she was rummaging in my pockets trying to find something to munch on …I love it! The wedges you ask about are actually Uggs …surprise hey? xx

Hi Valerie, thanks for your message and good for you growing your hair. I would say there are 3 things that have worked for me
1: Stick with it. Make each length work, practise new techniques for drying and be open to experimenting with how you style it. If you try to keep it looking the same, you will get frustrated and want to cut it off. Enjoy the journey down!
2: Cut it only when you really need to. You are after all trying to let it grow! If you are careful with your maintenance and don’t overuse products, don’t over brush, don’t over heat style etc then you can go a lot longer between cuts.
3: Wash and style as infrequently as possible and use as few products as you can get away with. I wash my hair just twice a week and those are the only times that a brush or a product comes near my hair. I wash it and properly blow dry it (it took practise and patience) but then don’t use anything on it until I next wash it.

It was this that worked for me. Now that I’m at the length I like, I do use tongs a little between washes but I still only use product when blow drying (I use Percy and Reed bodifying lotion and wonderbalm). I also never use products after it’s dried as they tend to make the hair dirtier quicker than without.

Hope that helps? Hang on in there!! Very best wishes

      Pipa xx
