It’s a new look for me

Have I mentioned before how quickly my hair grows? Despite this fact, I'm still a nightmare when the hairdresser gets the scissors out! I've just started to get my hair cut by Richard Ward (like most of the other presenters) so I was a little nervous about how much he was going to cut off. Richard assured me he'd only take off an inch, and I have to say, I really like what he's done.

Actually it's just as well I did go for the chop as I had a little mishap with a paint pot at the weekend. As you know, I've almost finished the decorating now and Sophie's room is the last of the lot. I was leaning back to paint the sloping celling when Chris noticed that I was dipping my ponytail in the tin of paint. Fortunately thanks to the cut I only caught the very ends and I was able to wash the paint out before it dried. Lucky, or it would've been another trip to Richard's salon!

When I was there we got chatting about football – yes, I can hear some of you groaning now! He asked me which team I supported and when I said Crystal Palace he told me that his father-in-law used to present a cable TV programme about them. It turns out I took over the hotseat from him on Palace Chatback – talk about a small world!

A young Daniel in his football stripThat was the start of my infatuation with Crystal Palace, and Daniel's too. As a result of working on the programme, I found out about a summer football course that I managed to get him on. He was only five at the time – doesn't he look sweet in his strip?

The course was run by two young Palace players of the time – the reserve goalie and one Gareth Southgate, now the manager of Middlesborough no less!

So who are your top five footballers of all time? I'll reveal mine in my next post.

Till next time,
Julia. xx.

    Hi Julia
I also had my hair cut 3 days ago, and Iam like you I hate to cut my long hair, and always worry that the hairdresser will cut too much. But Iam glad I had it cut (not short)just an inch, it take so long to dry my hair but still will not cut short.
Iam like you I watch a lot of football. my husband is a Man U fan, so I support him and want them to win for him. Years ago I used to love Roberto Baggio ( he played for Milan) he was a great player, but everyone think that I liked him because he was a good looking Italian, but I liked the way he palyed. So my top footballers will be, R.Baggio, Linker, D.Backham.
Thank you so much for writing before, I will let you know about coming to London and visiting QVC. That would be a dream come true.
    Love to all.

Hi Julia, talking of hair can you believe Ive had mine all cut off, it was down to my waist but it was so thick and heavy it took ages to cope with , now washing and styling is a dream . Its a short bob now and the best thing of all is everyone tells me I look years younger at 62 that cant be a bad thing.Football is something I dont get involved with until ENGLAND play and then something comes over me and I go quite mad and our sitting room wonders what on earth is happening, very patriotic thats me. Best Wishes , Margaret

Hello girls – my latest blog will be posted in the morning in which I list my all time top 5 and currently playing top 5 – I thought it was appropriate with the England World Cup qualifier coming up tomorrow. Lynn, I’m not a Man Utd fan, but I have to agree with you George Best was a genius!!I’ve also named Cristiano Ronaldo in my current top 5. Margaret glad you’re enjoying your new hairstyle – I wasn’t as brave as you. I too will be watching and cheering England on tomorrow – although not sure who will be playing up front ……. I wish they’d called up former Palace player Andrew Johnson. Magda keep me upto date with your travel plans.
    Julia xx

Hi Julia as one of my favourite presenters on qvc, which is a fab shopping chanel, would you be able to have a word with them upstairs. As a super shopping chanel that sells everything going except one thing (wigs),yes thats right ladies wigs.I have lost my hair due to medication and there are a lot of women that have lost their hair for one reason or another.I do buy wigs from another shopping chanel. Although I am content with the other shopping chanel i would love qvc to do wigs as you i think yous would be able to do better,I would be greatful if you would at least consider this and possibly look into this idea of selling wigs as I think it could be a big hit on the show. I for one would be a buyer. thanks for everything Julia and qvc well done to everyone fantastic shopping. from shirley an avid fan and customer
