Remembering the past 17 years of QVC UK

It was lovely to be on air for QVC’s 17th birthday weekend – some of the videos brought back such a lot of memories!! Do you remember when we did the Locomotion with Mungo Jerry?

In fact, if anyone still has an old video showing the party on the night of our 5th anniversary, in particular the dance we all learned for the other Mungo Jerry song (what was it called?), I’d love to see it!

I remember going down to the recording studio in the middle of the night (the only time all of us presenters were all available together), and laying down the two tracks, emerging from the darkness only as day broke!

We sold 50,000 copies that night, in a two-part set with the music TSV – and most of us involved still have the gold disc on our walls to show for it! This highlights video was played out over our 17th birthday weekend, and focussed on years 1998 – 2003.

 QVC highlights

Debbie and Tony Robbins Plus, we had so much else going on in that era. The first live broadcasts back from QVC US, including a major one for me when I interviewed Tony Robbins.

It's funny looking back at that picture, I’m about the same weight again now as I was then (early ’98). But, thanks to the Freedom Eating ladies during 1999, I started losing it big time. By the time we had the QVC Roadshow – featured on the video above – I was much slimmer! Thank goodness for old videos eh?

Tony Blackburn music shows were another of my highlights in those early years. I'm still in touch with him now and he’s had some great news about a new Radio 2 show later this year, bless him!

It’s lovely reminiscing… I left by March 2000, but I do recall the first Breast Cancer Care night – our own, now annual, fundraising extravaganza for a worthy cause – the best types of broadcasting to be involved with! Do join us again for this year’s event. It's on Wednesday October 13th in the evening, and you can start donating now via our Breast Cancer Care page. And roll on next year when QVC comes of age!!

Hi again Debs – I’ve just posted in your latest blog! Just had to tell you, I’ve still got the locomotion cd! Sorry to admit it, but I haven’t listened to it for ages. Nostalgic to see all the old faces ion the cover, though. I’ve still got a signed photo of Steve Whatley at home. What a guy – marvellous presenter and such a people person, bit like yourself.
    Keep well.

    hey louise! Again! 🙂
I do have the CD somewhere too!
I’d love to see the actual dance we did that night on the live show though – it took us ages to learn and was great fun! Maybe someone’ll have a video of it somewhere!
    Nice to hear from you!
