Is the Queen a Palace fan??

It's been a bit of a mixed week weatherwise hasn't it – the hottest day of the year in the South East on Wednesday followed by torrential rain on Thursday - all part of a British summer I guess.

Today I was sitting in the back of a London taxi driving down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace. The sun was shining  and as I glanced into St.James's Park with its stripey deckchairs and gazebo, bustling with tourists and Londoners enjoying their lunch hour, I thought how lucky we are to have such a beautiful capital city.

I was admiring the flower beds outside Buckingham Palace and then I realised why – they are planted up in red and blue! I wonder if the Queen is a Palace fan – well I guess it would be quite appropriate really.

Which brings me round to the fact that the new football season kicks off tomorrow at least for the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2. I am so hoping that this season will be a promotion push rather than a relegation dogfight but we shall have to see how things develop. If you too are a footie fan, I hope your team does well.

I should imagine the last few weeks have been a time for getting fitness levels back up to peak performance for the footballers, maybe even getting back on a healthy eating programme. If you need to do that too, we have the Diet Chef TSV coming up on Wednesday and we have a great new guest, Mark.

Like me, Mark had allowed the pounds to creep on, but having lost a stone and a half he is determined to keep the weight off and our 2 week programme is perfect for that. It's also a great way to kick start  a healthy eating regime and learn about portion control which is how I've managed to stay ay my target weight. If you want to find out more, join Mark and I on Tuesday at midnight.

Speak soon,
Julia  xx

    Hi Julia
As you maybe know from other topics we have already started! We play Chelsea in a friendly tomorrow which doesnt make a lot of sense with our season having started. Looking forward to seeing Torres Drogba etc though. We actually beat them the last time we played them at Ibrox a few years back – atmosphere should be great too, The Red and blue at the Palace mixed with a bit of white – sounds good for any Rangers and Palace fans doesn’t it!
    Take care xxx

    Hi Julia
I had to laugh at what you said in your reply to me about Poppy killing her toy mousey, they are funny arent they. You mention the colours of the flowers outside Buckingham Palace and wondered if the Queen was a Palace football fan, I expect she has a kick about with Philip and the grandchildren in the grounds, or maybe not. You mention keeping to your target weight, you were not big before, but yes you have a good figure. I expect you are looking forward to the football season, I am not that keen on football, I think I prefer to watch Rugby. Glad you had a good break. It was nice to have Kim back on, I love her clothes.
    Speak to you soon.
    Love Jean XX

    Mmmmmnnnnn, interesting question that Julia!!!!
Hurrah for the footie season – means I’ll be banished to the kitchen TV to watch more QVC. And he’ll be that busy concentrating on the footiie that he won’t hear the phone going ……and going ……. and going……..!!!!
I got a call from Keeley on Friday and looks like I’ll be visiting QVC Towers in September. I am sooooooooooo exited, I can’t tell you! I hope it’s with you or Ali, but I love you all so I’m sure it’ll be great whoever.

    Hi Steven
Dan told me that you guys lost to Chelsea but I hope it was still a good match to watch??
We had our Carling Cup game cancelled on Tuesday because of the ‘troubles’ in London …. the Croydon area which is very close to Palace was particularly badly hit.
We have our first home game on Saturday against Burnley which will be a bit of a test!
    speak soon

    Hi Jean
I was smiling at the thought of the Queen and Prince Philip having a ‘kick around’ but you never know, maybe they do!
FYI there are a couple of Kim and Co Outlet shows this evening if you fancy a ‘Kim’ bargain.
    Thanks for the compliment

    Hello Jen
Thanks for the compliment – I am starting to get used to walking in those wedge heels now!
The dress was a Tiana B that was in the Dress Boutique show at 23.00 – I had a few compliments so maybe I should treat myself??

Have to agree with Jen Julia too – I caught a glimpse of that show. You looked hot girl!
Yeah the Chelsea game was good. Sort of summed up the gulf in clas when they took off Drogba and put Torres on though!
Hope you haven’t been directly effected by any of the troubles. Mindless idiots that seem to be causing it. I’m hoping it doesn’t spread any furthur and dies out quick
It’s raining here again just for a change – seems to have been like that non stop for about 2 or 3 weeks!
Hope it gets better for the weekend. Are you going to the game against Burnley?
    Have a fab weekend xxx

Hello Julia love your shows, i live up here in the Shetland islands, which you should visit sometime (when the weather imporoves) my daughter who is visiting me lives in london and is here for a fortnight with her son, whos 18 and a fairly quiet wee chap, and a real cockney lad, who we felt was really out of his element up here due to the atriocious weather we are having, he cant go out or anything , anyhow myself and my daughter were watching your show last night on your Kim and Co Tops. the blue one was really smart, anyhow you stood up to show the top you were wearing, which matched your fingernails, and as the camera panned in showing your figure, which i must say , you are in fabulous shape, this cockney voice chirped up from behind us ” phoar i would nt mind having that wrapped round me” we are still laughing about this this morning during our coffee break, its moments like this that makes us enjoy watching your shows, so keep up the good work and try and visit us sometime if you can p.s take a raincoat

    Hi Steven
Sorry to hear it’s raining again – we had a bit yesterday but it’s brighter today.
No I’m not going to the Burnley game – I have my Mum down and as it’s her birthday we will be busy indulging in Eton Mess and Chocolate Cake!!!!! I will keep an ear out for the score though.
Who are you guys playing this weekend?
I am a fan of Torres and had him in my fantasy team all last season – no wonder I finished 32nd in the QVC Fantasy Football League ( there were more than 32 teams in case you wondered!!! )
Hope he does better for Chelsea this season

Crikey I don’t know what to say!!!! But thank your grandson for the compliment!
My nephew, who used to run the Bird Observatory on Fairisle, has bought a house on Shetland. They haven’t moved in yet, but when they do I might well pop up to see them and could drop in maybe??
I know all about needing my raincoat in Scotland – the whole of my sisters family live there and we only just got away with an outdoor June wedding before the heavens opened!!!

Hi julia hope you are well,I don,t know if you remember me writting to your blog the other week, I told you about my husband being diagnosed with kidney cancer, thankyou for your good wishes, he has had one op now but is quite poorly at present, he will have another op in november, because i am so stressed my skin has broken out badly, and was wondering what to do,my makeup looks dreadful because my skin is so bad, I have just ordered the elemis skin wash, mask and nightcream, do you think this will help me,wondered if may be alison could help me, I usually use Liz Earle, although i have been giving decleor, and alpha H a try. Don,t know if you have any ideas I am just really stressed out, thanks Julia.
    Love Di.x

    Hello Di
Firstly give my love to your husband and hoping he will start to improve soon so that he will have his strength for his next op in November.
I can really empathise with you with regard to your skin flaring up under extreme stress. It’s awful cos the the worse my skin got the more I stressed and then my skin got even worse – a vicious circle.
As you know I am not a skin expert – I would have rung Keeley for you but she is away on holiday now. To be honest I’m not sure you should try anything ‘new’ on your skin while it is so aggrevated and you definitely shouldn’t try it without patch testing on the inside of your wrist or behind your ear for at least 24 hours. Maybe it would be best for you to return to your Liz Earle routine and go and see your doctor? I had to have steroid ointments and tablets to regain control of my skin before gradually reintroducing beauty products over a period of about a year.
The skin is the largest organ of the body and the last to receive nutrients from food if they are needed elsewhere so you could also consider possibly taking a Vitamin E supplement, but again you should consult with your doctor first.
If you can reply to this and be a little more specific about your skin issues I will ask Alison Young for her advice for you.
    much love to you both

    Hi Julia
Its nice of you to give me some advise on my skin, my trouble is I live on my nerves, the doctor says its stress and anxiety, and its eczema due to that, and of course because of Dave being so poorly its spreading like mad,I did order elemis the tri enzyme special value but won,t use it just yet until my skin clears,if you could ask Alison if she could advise me what cleanser and toner to use as my LIZ EARLE is nearly finished, and I need a new one,but I do,nt think cleanse and polish is as good on my skin,so thought I would try something else, sorry to hear you have had skin problems you are right it is a vicious circle, hope you are okay now,you always look lovely when ever I see you on QVC,what is your favourite cleaser and toner now. Dave sends his thanks for wishing him well,we are still trying to come to terms with it,hope Alison Keenan is recovering well she always looks lovely when I have read her blogs, thankyou so much Julia, for your good wishes and will speak soon. Lots of love

    Hello Di
Ali is off this week but I will ask her next time I see her. My skin is stable at the moment so I have been using the Tri Enzyme wash but I think you should keep that for when your skin calms down.
As I said I can’t really ‘give advice’ because I’m not qualified but I have found the Emma Hardie balm very soothing on my skin when it has been inflamed. The good thing is you can use it as a cleanser and a moisturiser so it keeps your routine simple for your skin – less to react to. If you decide to try it you must patch test first cos any of us can be sensitive to anything and we’re all different.
Ali is having a bit of a do next weekend so I’m really looking forward to seeing her then – I wish she didn’t live so far away.
Give Dave a big hug from me
    Julia xx
