Irregular Earrings: Explained

0

We’re a week into Jewellery Month, and you may have already headed over to our Jewellery Month Must-Haves page to check out the key looks we’re helping you hit this summer.

The trends have been informed by top stylist and blogger Alex Stedman from The-Frugality.com, who knows a thing or two about putting together a chic, on-trend look without blowing the rent money.

This week we’re shining a light on Irregular Earrings, which have been having a major moment on Hollywood red carpets this award season. Here’s a short film Alex filmed with us to explain what they are:

As Alex covers in the video, irregular doesn’t just mean unusual. Cuffs and climbers of the sort to adorn stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson and Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary from Downton Abbey) – like this leaf-cut ear climber from Or Paz, or our latest Jewellery Icon from loveRocks, both pictured below – are a more literal way to get the effect, but it’s as much about attitude and the way you wear something as it is about the actual design.

Sharon, our model, is styled in our video in a simple shirt, and Alex has elected to accessorise the look with a single Diamonique double earring. The result is an irregular effect; you can of course wear them as a pair, as they were designed to be – but if you decide to mimic this look you’ve got a second to give to a friend as a gift.

Of course we’ve got some more truly unusual designs coming your way this month. Keep your eyes peeled for Lisa Snowdon’s diamond loop drop earrings, which feature a diamond-encrusted bar at the lobe and a thin chain loop that hangs below, among plenty of others.

Elsewhere over the next seven days, we’re going to be celebrating Honora Pearls‘ 16th anniversary on QVC on Monday and Tuesday, including a gorgeous irregular set of earrings. These reversible studs give you two looks in one: a crystal-encrusted large pearl on one side, and a small button pearl on the back. Wear one, or both, and – if the mood takes you – switch them around throughout the day as you move from one thing to the next.

If you’re feeling inspired, create your own irregular look and send us the results on Instagram by tagging @qvcuk and the hashtag #JewelleryMonth.
