Debbie’s one of our original QVC UK presenters, having been here until 2000 and then returning in 2009. In between, she did everything from running her own importing company, working in finance and writing books to interviewing celebs, hosting her own BBC1Daytime TV game show and even appearing on ‘Stars in their Eyes’!

She’s a bit of a night owl so you’ll find her presenting mainly evening and weekend shows. Off screen, follow her weekly magazine-style blogs for backstage gossip, film reviews, funny pics and videos, and photos of her four gorgeous Labradors.

When I got back to QVC, you had gone to another channel but I noticed, having not seen you for a couple of years, that each of you, Paul Lavers and Alison had lost your ‘gerbil pouches’ in the years that I hadn’t been watching! Will you guys EVER reveal your secret to the rest of us?

    Hi Debbie
I was watching a show you were presenting yesterday afternoon (jewellery boxes and wraps that keep jewellery tarnish free).
You were wearing the most AMAZING pendant on a long chain. The pendant was blue, very sparkly and teardrop shaped. I have been ringing and emailing qvc to find out if it is an item that will become available on air or, whether it is your own. It was GORGEOUS. Where did you get it?

JAN!! Quick update for you – hope you don’t miss it! Watch tomorrow morning for Kenneth J Lane’s hour at 11am with me – part of New York Chic week! It’s the feather pendant! Also the big monochrome bangle, the animal ring and the dangly earrings were all from that range! Hope you can either ask the operator in advance, or get it in time in the morning! Yes you’re right – it is amazing!
ps hope everyone enjoyed the Guillaume fashions too! Those coats fit so well! 🙂

    HI Debbie
welcome back ,just watching the Diet Chef launch and am so pleased to see that Vegetarians have their own option this time round, everything looks so tasty and your before and after photos are inspirational
I noticed on Forum , that some dieters were saying they had ” wind pains ‘ and more, and wondered if this had anything to do with eating low cal sweets and gum. I found that many of these are sweetened with sorbitol which has a laxative effect. I now check all labels on sweets and if it says ” sorbitol” in the ingredients , I will not buy them —hope this helps with the problem.
On a sad note —comment from Sandy Green about reuniting the famous 4 presenters from QVC`s early days, including yourself and Paul Lavers and Julia.
Tragically, Steve Whatley -Mr Diamonique , died in November 2005. His inquest ruled that he took his own life while depressed.
    Rest in peace Steve

Good old days!
john – thanks for your kind comments and I know you’re only joking, but as my son is 23 and my daughter 21 in September and due to a previous rubbish relationship with a guy 11 yrs younger than me, a 20 yr old wouldnt be on my list I’m afraid! Unlike the texters, I don’t have a specific name that I am looking for, but I do find the name of the monkey helps me choose which colour to buy so I was wondering if you could tell me the names of the monkeys from the following colours: purple, red, wild blue and organic green. Many thanks.

I seem to have to pay more just because I live in southern Ireland…. Miss out on all the items which feature free p and p etc. How about a few surprises for Irish customers next St Patricks Day….PLEASE

Susan – I’m told reliably that Kipling have come back with an answer finally about three of the monkeys – see next blog (around 4th Dec or just after) – I see Marie-Francoise at the weekend! I said she should start a facebook group where people can help out with answers for each others’ questions – hope that might help some other people?
Sue – your comment’s been passed on to the powers that be! thanks for writing! The best place to put comments tho – for anyone else with questions – is on the qvc facebook cos it has its own customer service team who are a lot better than me at getting responses! We’re asked to direct people towards that outlet anyway!
    hope ok!

    Hi Debbie
thank you for your campaign for collecting the monkey`s names on Kipling bags –I too love to hear their names –even the more unusual ones and it often persuades me to buy a new one if there is a name that matches one of my friends.
An `Angela` was recently looking for a namesake monkey — I found one on a QVC show at the beginning of December , being an Angela myself .She was on the foldable shopper , so not actually a handbag , in Soda pop print, item 145941.
It seems that Kipling sometimes repeat a name in a different colour –maybe for a different employee with the same name .I have `Julie` in a rose pink and now in Organic green and see that `Dorothy `which was on lilac/blue is now on True Blue.
I have found my daughters, Sarah on Cactus green , and Catherine on emerald green .The beautiful Breast Cancer Care pink bag had a pink monkey called Hope.
Thanks Debbie — hope this is of some interest to other Kipling addicts.

In response to Laura’s search for a LAURA monkey, there is a new one out in Lavender Grey for Spring 2011. It is a small one –mobile phone charm size , and I noticed it for sale on ebay . Actually there are usually a lot of monkeys on their own for sale there and it often is a good place to track down different names — worth a look, Laura.!

Hi Debbie can you ask Marie Francoise please if she could see if kipling could make a purse, any design in gumdrop green and the dark purple colour, I know the purple was made and sold as a set with a handbag but I have the fairfax bag. When the gumdrop green was introduced it sold out straight away so i’m sure the purse would be just as popular. These are the only 2 colour bags I haven’t got matching purses for.

They combine style, beauty, fashion, design, practicality, trend so well and I have fun to use them and they make me smile with pleasure. THANKYOU.

Hi Debs/ Marie Francoise, in answer to Pauline’s question, there was a monkey called Pauline and it used to be on the white bags, also white bags had the name Lorainne (not sure of exact spelling). Pauline was the most popular though and then it was replaced by the name Suchitra. I bought my friend a white morrisey bag years ago from qvc and the monkey was definitely Pauline. Hope this may help Pauline.

    Hi Ladies
great Kipling shows today , and more to come tomorrow -Monday.
I am enjoying the `monkey names ` feedback , if only to reassure me that I`m not the only one who loves to know their names even the slightly more unusual ones !
In reply to Barbara –there is a recent Barbara monkey , she is white. I had just bought one tonight –monkey only –for a friend when I saw your appeal. Check on Ebay , there were still a couple available.
Originally Kipling did not repeat monkey names but lately have noticed this has changed –for example I have a Grace on a mahogany coloured bag and there is a new Grace just out.I have `Dorothy ` in two different colours and there have been several white monkeys –Pauline ,Barbara and Suchitra.
I think a web page on QVC is an excellent idea and of course there must be Marie and Debbie monkeys in honour of all your efforts to achieve this!!

@William – CURRENTLY – (it changes according to what we’re asked to trial) – mostly Liz Earle, Gatineau (3D defilift), decleor aromesscence de L’age, Sarah chapman eye, prai and judith williams and gatineau neck (i’m alternating – i have them in different places at home, at work etc!), hair – i use phillip kingsley elasticizer most of the time, along with liz earle spoo/cond for everyday, Ojon for special, and have just got some Richard Ward to trial.
Yes I think for sure Phillip K range would have something good for fine hair – try it!

Would you plead, plead, plead with Kipling to get rid of those awful attachable straps – on anyone over 20, they look ridiculous. Why not just make shoulder bags with longer shoulder straps – then watch sales rocket even further! I always have to cut off the short handles/straps and get my local seamstress to make new, longer straps – looks OK but would look better if Kipling did them straight off.
I live in Shropshire and have never seen anyone wear a Kipling bag yet, so I’m wearing my Large Fairfax in the gorgeous speckled blue print with great pride!!!
    Thank you
PS Can we have international names like Anke, Brigitte, Carsten, Udo?

    Hi Debbie,
I am wondering if QVC is phasing out Kathy van Zeeland or is it just my imagination. I am a fan but have only seen one show in 2011 and it was only a 40 minute one. I also haven’t seen that she is due to have a show in the next four weeks according to the TV Guide. Could you let me know if she will be back?
I also love Kipling bags of course but was disappointed by the petrol/teal blue Large Fairfax that turned out to be teal green. I ordered it when it was a TSV but had to send it back as it looked nothing like either the photo on the website or the TV screen. I think I have about 12-15 Kipling bags, I know that is not a lot compared to other people but I love their versatility and their tardis qualities.
    Take care. Maria.

Hi Debbie, I was watching the Birkenstock show you did with Nicky yesterday and you told a lady to leave a message so I thought I would try too! Last June I ordered a pair of Birkis which unfortunately sold out and I have been waiting for them to come back ever since. Please could you ask Nicky if QVC will have them again or where I might be able to buy them as I don’t seem to be able to order from the Birkis website. The style is Birkis Salina Cortina Sandal, in black, QVC no. 147722.
    Thanx Bev

Hi This message is for Marie Francoise Wolf ! Apart from the gumdrop green purse she has put a request in for, thank you, I would like a purse only made in purple, one to go with the purple bag that has a ‘Jackie’ monkey please. You have done them to go in a set with the bag but not on their own and I have a purple fairfax bag but no purse.

    Hi Debbie,
You asked those of us with wide feet to comment here – well, that’s me. I have size 8 feet which are wide, with a large toe joint on one foot – and high arches too. It’s nearly impossible to find nice shoes that fit me (I really don’t want “granny shoes”!), so maybe a campaign to get wide fitting shoes more widely available would be good!
    Best wishes,

    Hi Debbie
Thanks for your obs. I was watching your Clark’s show and i’m one of those people who need a slightly wider shoe. I find Clarks tend to accommodate the average narrow foot and like yourself i too have a bunion.
I would appreciate your input into this area.

I am in need of wide small shoes, size 3. I managed to get a pair of Birkenstocks years ago but…… since then I have not been lucky all the styles I like are tooooo narrow.I know what it is like to have Hbbit feet.

  154. Ann July 29, 2011 at 8:58 pm -  Reply

    Hi Debbie,
Just been watching you on the Clarks Outlet show. I would love ‘standard size’ feet also. I am 5 1/2 B width and find it almost impossible to find shoes to fit especially as I cannot wear heels higher than 2 1/2 in. I have never been able to wear court shoes as I walk out of them (I have narrow heels also) so I usually have straps or lace ups (great for skirts and dresses – I don’t think). When I buy sandals I tend to buy 4s as they are the right width. K shoes used to do widths A to EE until Clarks bought them out and made them wider widths. I wish you luck buying shoes and your feet look OK to me.

Hi Debbie, loved your show, Clarks shoes last night (29.7.2011)
It was great to hear that there is a presenter with large wide feet. I also have this problem, shoes are my biggest nightmare, and have been the bane of my life. There is so little choice for us. My friends always ask why I wear such boring shoes.
It is also good to see a presenter who is not built like a stick.
I know QVC sell clothes for us ladies who are not size 10 – 14
, but it would be great to see a few more size 16 plus models, then I wouldn;t have to keep returning clothes so often.
    Fondest wishes Cherry

    Re tight shoes
    Hi Debbie,
I was sitting thinking how difficult it is to get decent shoes for broad feet when I heard you ask for comments. I am 64 & have spent my life either squeezed into shoes that are too tight or walking out of shoes that are too big. Until I bought Markon mary jane shoes from QVC I had never been able to wear a size 6 which is my actual size. Casual & Co boots are wonderfully wide but , sadly, they don’t seem to make them anymore. Why? They were fabulously comfortable.
It would be great if you could persuade the buyers to offer broader & smarter, prettier shoes for people with fat feet. Walking is perfectly normal & comfy shoes should be too.
    Fingers (but not toes)crossed.

Hiya Debs, love your style on QVC, u r such a natural, ur just so honest but down to earth. I made a comment to customer services that whenever you are doing fashion i never get the sizing wrong, you tell us early on what the sizing is, not to miss out and also are excellent with trying comparables for the sizing, other presenters pls note! I have the same trouble as yourself, my feet have been broke, bunions and also dislocated toes so are basically wide and very uncomfortable – have no chance of getting into shaped toe shoes, they have to be a little more squared off as well as wide. Love how you share your problems with us at home, it helps with your honesty and i’m sure there are a lot less returns as regards sizing when you are on. Keep up the good work. Joy, Mansfield x

    Hi Debbie
Im with you on the wide fitting shoes campaign. I am very reluctant to buy shoes (apart from EMU boots) from QVC as no one seems to mention the width of the shoes (apart from yourself). If we could get wide fitting ranges it would be great then at least us “hobbits” could be assured that we are going to get a shoe that fits.
Thanks Debbie for starting the campaign.

We had a lovely welcome, and thrilled to bits to meet you Debbie, as I we love your humour on tv, and to meet Beth and Tanya also (my two favourite models), was a bonus. The room laid out in turquoise, and seperate stands for the jewellery looked beautiful, and to be able to try the rings on, we had such a great day. WE sat talking to Tom outside afterwards, he came out for a break, and so we sat and chatted, what a nice guy, we did have a laugh with him. I would count myself very lucky if this was to come along again. With many thanks. Brenda Pinkney

However you did influence me into buying the Luminous Rose outfit for Christmas. (You much more glam than me though without question.)So I’m non the wiser but it appeared to be a twist front with sleeves the colour being beige/leopard/with a turquoise background. Dear Debbie,
There haven’t been any Scifi Hours or Star Trek hours on Qvc now for over ten years or more? Why is that? I used to watch QVc all those years ago when you were on along with Paul Lavers, Julia Roberts whose still on QVC, and Tim Goodwin too who used to present the old Technology or Computer hours on QVC with Dale Franklin still on QVC too! I’m a sci-fi fan and like Star Trek, Doctor Who and other tv shows of that genre! The last item I bought from one of your old Sci-fi QVc Hours, was a Set of 84 Star Trek-Trading Cards back in 2001. Does QVC not have any new contacts with Sci-fi companies over Merchandising and, maybe new Comics Hours to show on QVC Shopping Channel at all? I used to watch a loud guy or guest who was on Comics Hours with one of your older presenters at the time, he wore tee-shirts and was from America? I would be pleased for any reply you can send me!
    Kind regards,

Hi Debbie, you’re still looking great on QVC… hope you and your family are all keeping well? I wanted to ask you a technology question, if that’s alright?
Can the Veho 360 Gumball 3000 Rechargeable Travel Speaker with USB be used with a PC/Mac as normal speakers? Or is a desktop PC or Mac, too powerful for the small round speakers?
Or are they just for use with smaller devices, such as Mp3 Players, I-pods and Laptops? Have you bought these speakers yourself?
I’m John Rennie from Glasgow in Scotland, Aged 35-44 How long have you been shopping with QVC? over 2-5 years… Would you recommend this product as a gift? Yes… Who would this be a perfect gift for? Me! Thanks for any reply you can send me Debbie! Kind regards, John Rennie – GLASGOW x x x

Hi just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the Breast Cancer Care show on 3 October. It was the highlight of the year. Not only did we meet some great people but also you too and that was the icing on the cake. Just saying the weekend before, wouldn’t it be wonderful if you were actually there. ‘Be careful what you wish for’ but in this case it was a dream come true.
The photos look great too and from the evening photos, it looks like you had double the fun that day! Along with the others.
Looking forward to QVC’s Breast Cancer Care Show. Once again so nice to meet you, here’s to the start of a beautiful friendship!

John – thanks so much for your comments. I think QVC found that other categories of products overtook collectables once gary Ashburn left, as it’s quite hard work to keep the category going. Doesn’t mean it wont ever return, but no plans atm. Dont give up hope tho – always worth emailing them to find out! ditto about your query regarding the travel speakers, but if they’re the little flat ball ones in black colour, i think i have them and yes they’re ok with any gadget that’s got a normal mini jack output. You just have to remember to charge them enough tho!
    best wishes

I have not read her books before but I enjoy reading, so would be wonderful if I win the prize and the goody bag. Besides, I have never won anything so far from QVC, and hopefully, this will be my first.

I would love to win the novel as I’m also a big Barbara Erskine fan though I don’t think she’s ever matched ‘Lady of Hay’. I’m also interested in the witch trials and the injustice thereof – I live in the end house on my own and would probably have been branded a witch a few centuries ago!
I’m also having a rough time at the moment and some pampering and escapism would be lovely.

    Hello Debbie
thoroughly enjoying the BCC – a subject close to home as my mum’s best friend is battling breast cancer having already lost her husband to the same disease. It’s been a blow to us all but we have supported her the best we can; attending chemo sessions with her, listening when she wants to talk and just being there for her at all times. I am glad an organisation such as QVC and top brands and designers can produce such a fantastic fundraising event!

Hi Debbie, love what you bring to qvc as a presenter and a person. I do all my shopping online as I am house bound at the moment. I am also in a wheelchair which is one of the reasons of sending this message. I love fashion but when I see the clothes on the models and yourself and would love to buy them but clothes that look lovely standing don’t always have the same appeal when I would put them on in my wheelchair. I was wondering if you could pass this on and maybe have a segment of fashion for us viewers that may be in the same situation as myself eg being in a wheelchair. thanks for taking time to read this
    Thanks Emma

best wishes and thanks for your other kind comments too!

This the first time I have posted a comment. Please, please could you ask Yong Kim to bring back item152 562 – the utterly fabulous black dress in all sizes? I bought it in a size 16, but it was too big, as Yong Kim very kindly is generous with her sizing, so it had to go back. No other size is available except for 16 on wait list. I am sure it would sell very well again.

This is the first time I have ever blogged so it has took me 20 mins to work out how to do it. Could you ask how the egg stops washing when the machine is on its rinse cycle and you keep the egg in the machine all the time.

  278. Debs flint – Qvc presenter July 1, 2013 at 6:25 pm -  Reply

Hi Denise! Well done you for leaving a comment hon! I will ask charlie and get back to u, he’s on with it niw (6pm). but i dont check e blog comments all the time, so the best and fastest way to get a reply on something urgent is to tweet @qvcuk or one of the on air presenters. Of text or call studio!
If u don’t hear more from me, it means the answer is it this – that it’s actually a rinse cycle to ge tried of the diry water rather than to add more cleaning agent or foam. Unlike with normal detergent that needs to be thoroughly rinsed out, the cleaning agents in the Eco egg don’t leave any such residue so a second rinse will ‘wash’ somewhat too. Plus you don’t need conditioner ( although you can use it if you want), due to the lack of harsh ingredients. The fabrics are left fresh and clean and ready to tumble dry.
    Hope that helps! X

Am looking forward to reading your book should b arriving tomorrow.
Id like to praise the qvc call centre. Today its unusual to call a telephone number and not have to go through several automated options which can be very frustrating. Im sure you have heard good comments before but I hope you understand how refreshing their helpful attitude is.
Anyway Debbs..thank you for always bringing us your smile at QVC. Would you mind entering me in the. ‘#Red Carpet Manicure Draw’ thank you so much.

I would be grateful if you could kindly enter my name into the Red Carpet Manicure Set. If would be a great treat for my daugher who has had a really tough year. Hopefully it would give her the incentive to pamper herself and take time out for herself as she does so much for everyone else.

    Hi Debbie,
Hope you and everyone at QVC are enjoying the 20 years of looking back on how it used to be at QVC? I was looking recently for the Veho Gumball 3000 Speaker, to buy again on QVC, but it hasn’t been on since I last bought one a few years ago now! I should have bought more than one at the time! The Veho Gumball speakers was a blue bal shaped device that opened up and since buying the only one I have, the sound quality has been fantastic.
I had bought a cheaper set of PC Speakers a few years ago with subwoofer, but instead of getting a loud howl or wolf from them that I expected, all I got was a slight cough and hardly any sound out of the PC speakers at all. I hope that QVC will get more of the Veho Gumball 3000 Speaker in again to buy more of them? I would be grateful for any help you can give me.
I really liked Sci-fi Hours for its content – on Star Trek and Doctor Who. There hasn’t been a Trading Card or Comics hour for a while either, will they be returning soon to QVC? I liked that loud American Guest, who used to shout about the Comics and stuff on the Comicbook hours years ago?
Why are there not more Gents products on QVC? When the fashion hours come on QVC Shopping Channels, there are only a few products for men? Just Umbrellas and Watches… can QVC not bring more fashion for men that includes what’s available to Women on QVC… More Raincoats, Umbrellas, Watches, Jewellery, Boots and Hats and Scarves too for us men, We’re feeling left out? Boo Hoo!
    Kind Regards,
    John Rennie from Glasgow.

    Hi Debbie
Just to say , I just watched the 100% fashion airing with you this eve . I am so so pleased we getting more ranges like this and took your advice to buy the cashmere tunic which will be a dress on my 5ft 1 petite frame 🙂 . My all time favs are Yong Kim , Rohnit Zilkha , Etoile and some of the new ranges concentrating on naturel fibers . As much as the designs are nice with some other designers they concentrate on polyester fibers which just make me overheat and perspire . Cannot wait for more shows from this range. Would of loved the merino cardi which was a fantastic price but thought that would of swamped me .

    Hi Debbie
I have cruised on Thomson Celebration twice with the family. The first time around the Red Sea and the 2nd time to Iceland & Norway. Loved both cruises and amazingly when we were boarding for the 2nd cruise we heard a voice call our names, it was our waiter, he recognised us and remembered our names 20 months after the first cruise! We are celebrating our silver wedding this year and cruising on Celebrity from Singapore in December.
One of the best things about being a travel consultant is finding the bargains for myself as well as my clients!
Enjoy the Celebration and I am sure it will the first of many cruises for you.

    Morning Deb
Have watched you through the night whilst nursing my dog Monty, recovering from an ear op yesterday.
A year ago he had a major op on his spine. £5500 poorer but worth every penny. He is pain free, walking well for a 12 year old. He is also blind, selective hearing! Hope ear will soon be fine and he has a couple of years pain free in his old age. He is an Italian Spinone, very heavy getting into the car, hence I have just ordered crop set, perfect for bending up and down, I hope. Enjoy your Cruise, you will be missed
