My famous five beauty products

Wow, can you believe it? For 16 years I've been gracing your screens and for 16 years I've been lucky enough to work with many different beauty brands and tried and tested so many products from fab haircare, effective skincare, innovative make-up and much more.

But I have to admit; there is a select handful that I always go back to – my hero products - because I know I'm going to get results.

So here's a rundown of my famous five products that I've used over and over again and are popular hits on my In the Salon shows…

Decleor Hydra Floral
Decleor Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Cream This is a great starting point when it comes to moisturising – it's balanced, lightweight and ideal for use in the morning and evening. You can start using it in your twenties and still love it in your fifties, sixties or seventies.

Alpha-H Micro Cleanse
Alpha-H Micro Cleanse Duo As you're probably aware by now, I'm always talking about exfoliation and how you must incorporate it into your skincare routine whether it's on a daily basis, or as a weekly treatment. It's an easy way to slough way dead skin cells to reveal a radiant, glowing complexion.

Micro Cleanse is a granular formula ideal for aged skin to help refine the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Or, if you need something a little more delicate, why not try Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel?

OPI Nail Envy

OPI Nail Envy duo When we first launched OPI on QVC over a decade ago, it was not available on the high street. You had to train with OPI to access their products, so it was a real salon secret!

Nail Envy is one of the most popular nail strengtheners that we sell and, in my opinion, works every time. The high-gloss formula helps to improve your nails' moisture levels to help prevent cracking, splitting and peeling so you can show off stronger, healthier-looking nails.

Gale Hayman Lip Lift

Gail Hayman lip lift This has truly stood the test of time. It contains collagen, vitamin E and aloe vera to help smooth wrinkles and ease lines, leaving you with super smooth lips in next to no time. A make-up bag must-have!

Gatineau Floracil Eye Make-Up Remover
Gatineau Floracil Eye Make-Up Remover This does exactly what it says on the bottle – removes all traces of eye make-up in a delicate, soothing way. Once you've removed your waterproof eyeliner and mascara, you can also use it on cotton pads as a refreshing eye compress. Perfect, does two jobs in one!

Congratulations Alison on your 16 years with QVC. I have been with you nearly as long and you’ve cost me a fortune over the years !! ;o)Thanks to you however, I have strong nails, good skin, manageable hair and my friends all love you at Christmas times and their birthdays, as they always get something from the QVC beauty dept. as, thanks to you, I now recognise some of the problems they have and can give them something to help them with it. Thanks again Alison, you have been a real help over the years.

thanx ali for your help. have been with you since 2000, and have spent a fortune, but it was worth every penny!. I also use 4 of the 5 products, and to very good effect. also my skincare regime is so good, no one ever believes that I am nearly 55, and a grandmother to boot. they all think i am in my 40’s, and this is due to good eye care, moisturisers etc. Am never without my lip lift, so my lips never dry or crack. Am working on hubby, slowly winning!!!.please carry on ALL your good work, and I look forward to the next 16 years with you, learning even more from you.

Happy Anniversary. Your advice over the past few years has been invaluable.. When paying for some fabric the lady serving me asked me what I used on my skin.. the next 15 minutes turned out to be almost like a mini consultation!! Ultrasun face 30 top of my list before anything else.. hope it paid off for her… Have a lovely day and many thanks… Veronica x Here’s to the next 16!!

Happy Anniversary Alison, Thank you for introducing me to so many wonderful products over the years; I’m the Elemis fan, my older daughter loves Decleor and my younger daughter is the Liz Earle girl. We all use many other items as well. It sounds big-headed but I look better at 52 because of these professional brands and your advice than I did in my 30s, even if I do still stay in the sun! Your professional knowledge and advice is much appreciated, as is your laughter…Long may they both remain. Jo x

hey Alison 🙂 I love all the beauty show’s you present, I’ve learnt alot from you over the last few year’s and i really look after my skin now. I use Perricone, Liz Earle, SBC and recently started using Elemis which i love. at the min I’m using pro-radiance cream cleanser, apricot toner and the papaya enzyme peel from Elemis plus moisturisers/serums/eye creams from other brands. I’m 25 and suffer from dark circles, I’ve tried lot’s of eye creams but never notice a difference with any of them. Is there any that you would recommend? thanks 🙂 xx

    Hi Ali
Belated 16th Anniversary wishes to you! I’ve learnt soooo much from your shows and no doubt will learn quite a lot more in years to come!
I wrote a while ago about my ankle injury and having metalwork on both sides of my ankle now and not knowing what to use…well your pal Julia Roberts suggested Decleor’s Prolagene Gel and although I looked at the tube for the first few days, not knowing whether to apply it or not, I did, then went on to mix it with Systeme Corps and it has helped tremendously.
I am convinced that if it wasn’t for using SBC’s Collagen Shower Gel, my leg would have looked like crocodile skin when they removed the plaster after 6 weeks, but it wasn’t, there was slight dryness, which soon disappeared.
As for SBC’s Arnica Gel, it was a life saver, not only with my ankle, but for the first 4 weeks home I had to inject myself in the tummy every day and as you can immagine it was black and blue, then I thought…you idiot, what about Arnica, so I plastered my tummy every day and the bruising, although still there, came through faintly, more yellow than black, it really helped.
So thank you Ali, for all your advice and demonstrations and thanks also to Julia, who has given me such help and encouragement on her blog since my accident.
    Annette x

Congratulations Alison –great shows for your anniversary —
onwards to the next 16 years
My problem is OJON —loved all the original range but now it has changed and I cannot use the new formula
Looking at Ojon`s own facebook page , the qvc facebook page and qvc reviews I am not alone –people are protesting in droves
What can you do to help ——– QVC cannot want returns in large quantities —people will just stop buying —help Alison

Have been watching for about 4 years and this 60+ lady has certainly had her knowledge of skin care extended! I use Cleanse and Polish and have introduced it to several of my friends. My favourite moisturiser is Pro Collagen Marine Cream. I have psoriasis and because of this I have never exfoliated as the last thing I need is my skin ‘turning over’ more quickly. I read on Julia’s blog that you had advised her when she had a ‘flare up’. Unfortunately it is ever present on me from scalp to ankles although the severity varies. I would really value your advice on bathing and skincare for a psoriatic skin.
