I’m up and running again!

Simon running in Battersea Park After all the lurgies I contracted around Christmas and the early part of the year, my New Year's resolution was to get myself in shape!

Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to get some time at home, there was always a nappy to change or a pipe to fix, a school run to be done or a lawn to cut and the time just disappeared each day without me being able to get any exercise done.

I had to come up with a new plan and that was to come to QVC early and run around the beautiful Battersea Park across the road from us.

I often now turn up at 7.00am (which is great because it only takes me 1 and a 1/2 hours to drive in as I beat the rush hour) and have plenty of peace to get my exercise done before the day's work. There is always the fight to get to the shower before Anthony but I can live with that!

It was a bit of a surprise the first time I went as I have always been a sporty person and expected to pick up where I left off. However, after no exercise for pretty much three years (since the birth of my daughter who is nearly three now!), I had to walk round… and the short way round at that! The good news is that now I am running (the long way) round, 1 and a 1/2 times, and really enjoying it and feeling so much better.

Some of our backstage girls did the Marathon the other weekend and finished in very impressive times. Now, I’m a long way from a race like that, but there’s a 5km fun run in my local village on the bank holiday weekend and I think I might drag my son round and see who is the fastest (it was the fact that I couldn’t keep up with him on the basketball court that made me realise I needed to do something, so I think he has it coming!).

Gotta run, see ya soon!

Hi Simon, well done you. I wish I could get fitter but ME stops that rather quickly. A walk into Ipswich and I have had it so I pause and gather the energy to come back again. It is only when you can’t do it that you realise how good it is to be able to. Keep up the good work.
Hugs (collect bears so everyone gets these)
So good to see you looking so well too.

    Hi Tina
Thanks for that! Sorry to hear about your ME but I suppose you have to keep doing whatever you can….. and you sound like you do it with good cheer, so well done to you! Hugs right back to you….. Simon X

Hi Simon, thank you. I have huge support from my OT Louise and my husband and family. And I know that I am very lucky in that I can still get out and about albeit slowly. There are many, many people who have ME that can’t.
I hope you keep running and keep well.
