I’m on page 3 of the Daily Mirror! No wait, it’s page 30 and it’s all about my weightloss!

It has been a very long time since my last blog so there’s a lot to update you on. I think I’ll start with the weightloss as so many of you have been asking about it.

To begin with it isn’t just about losing weight. The program I’ve been following since the 23rd of July is The Body Rescue Plan by Christianne Wolff. I came to know Christianne through her sister, Marie-Francoise, who is our Kipling guest on QVC. Christianne is a personal trainer, nutritionist, yoga instructor and reiki practitioner. For over 20 years she has worked with everyday people like myself but also with many major celebrities with life changing results.

Christianne’s book, a 12 week plan which then goes onto a maintenance program, is scheduled to debut on QVC January 2nd. Personally, I think it’s a perfect time. Starting a new regime on New Year’s Day can be tough with all the leftover food and drink in the house. With delivery being 3-5 working days you’ll have time to use up the leftovers without having to throw them away! Well, that’s how my brain works anyway…makes sense to me.

This year has become ‘the year I changed my life forever’ on many levels. More on the other elements of this in a future blog. I have tried many diets and have had great success with them. There are some great habits I learned using Paul McKenna’s system years ago which I still utilise such as eating slowly and consciously and putting my knife and fork down between mouthfuls. I also loved Diet Chef for reaching short term goals such as special events I may have wanted to drop a dress size for. James Duigan’s Clean and Lean diet has been about the closest to Christianne’s plan that I’ve seen. I loved that, too – it makes a lot of sense.

Catherine, Christianne & Laurie

So, why Body Rescue? Well, it’s an all encompassing mind, body, spirit system. The book has mind programming/meditation, absolutely stunning recipes, different types of exercise and a mass of nutritional and psychological information which has suited me perfectly. There’s no calorie counting. It’s all just as good for the inside of you as much as it is for how you’ll look on the outside. I’m feeling great, my skin has improved and since the start I have gone from 12 stone 6 pounds to 9 stone 11 pounds! The most important thing is I wanted something which I could maintain for life…this is it! There will be more updates soon so keep checking back.

This was a recent evening out with Christianne. We attended a fascinating talk on the Cullinan Diamonds which was given by diamond expert, Laurie Wickwire, who is also seeing great results on The Body Rescue Plan!

Another huge change in my life is that I’ve bought a house. I’m finally a first time homeowner, it’s been a dream of mine for many years. In order to afford a house in the area I wanted to live, I had to go for a fixer-upper.

In my next blog I’ll tell you more about that as its a huge undertaking with a complete gutting and remodelling of the house and, yes, I’m the one in the hard hat and (stylish pink & black) steel toe cap boots getting on with it!! The ultimate in DIY. I think I’d rather like a show called ‘DIY Diva’ where I can share what I’ve learned along the way and some of the great products I’ve loved from QVC. Who knows, eh? Watch this space!

I hope you’re all keeping well and warm now it’s cooled down. I look forward to being back on your screen very soon but, for now, it’s back to knocking down walls and ripping off ceiling paper!

Love Catherine xx

    Hi Catherine,
I have every sympathy with you with your house renovations as one who has been there more times than I would care to remember. After all the hassle we had when we last moved 13 years ago we said that we would never move again. Huh- famous last words, as we have our house on the market again! We must be gluttons for punishment. We have had no end of problems with our present house so I can’t say we’ll be sorry to move ( whenever that will be). We have been having problems with the electric’s over the past week and are waiting for the electrician to fit us in. It’s something all the time when you own a property. A few months ago we needed to have some joists replaced! I sometimes wonder if we would be better off renting?
Well done on your weight loss article in the papers. (I’m over-eating with the stress my house problem’s are giving me. ) Help!!!!
    Best wishes, Tina (S.Wales)

    Hi Lesleyann,

Thanks for your lovely comments. I think it’s harder to start a new diet this close to Christmas as you’re surrounded by temptation, more so than usual. I like the idea that you can get rid of all the Christmas leftover chocs etc before the book will arrive, too.

Good luck with your weight loss journey and don’t forget to love yourself just as much pre loss as you will after. I’m th first to admit its easier said than done but I hope you have a very happy run up to Christmas and new year.

    Hi Tina,

Wow, sounds like you’ve really been through it and still are! Nothing’s ever simple with houses, is it? I’ve found the floor is uneven so am having to redo the whole lot, luckily it’s a bungalow, before the new flooring can be done. I’ve got as far as the smallest bedroom and main hallway! It’s a long old slog but we’ll get there! Learning so much along the way.

I hope the spark comes soon and that you can move on from this house. I wonder if you’ll move to one ready made or, being a glutton for punishment, start from scratch? It’s hard but enjoyable at the same time but then I am only 3 weeks in! Ask me in a month

Catherine. I found your comments at the end of your article in the daily mirror crass and distasteful. You are basically implying that unless you are a size 10 then what is the point of dressing up at Christmas. I am quoting you saying that you were trussed up in two pair of spanx and wearing a shapeless number. Alternatively you wear fancy dress to cover up your embarrassment at being a size 16. Does this not totally contradict the selling mantra of qvc where all presenters are quick to point out that all ladies of all sizes are beautiful. Do you not push that with trinny and Susannah, Nina Leonard and ronnie Nicole. There is a vast selection of pretty dresses for evening wear. I personally can wear anything from a size 12 to a size 16 and to me it is only a label size. Well done on your weight loss btw however My nurse pointed out that the best way to lose weight and maintain is to eat balanced meals and exercise. There is no need for diet chef, 5/2 diets, or the various books that go on sale in January. Just saying as I really like you as a presenter but I feel very cheated by your comments.

    Hi Cheryl,

Thanks, firstly, for writing in and being lovely about my weight loss. I’m so happy to hear you might give it a go. I wish I could get everyone to try it, regardless of their size, as it’s such a healthy way to live.

I know Christianne is really looking forward to sharing her knowledge with people through QVC, too. It’s such a positive plan.

As I keep saying though, you have to commit to it to get results. The detox weeks can be a struggle at first but I’d never go back now. So worth it!

    Love to you & yours,

    Hello Maria,

Thanks for writing in. I had a consultation with Christianne at the start and then we did a few Skype sessions to do the exercise but it is all in the book so on days when we couldn’t Skype I happily followed the books instructional photos and guidance. I guess it just motivates you a bit more if you’ve booked a time with someone. Christianne gave me a great tip regarding keeping up the good work on your own and that’s to book it in advance in the diary like an appointment with a set day and time to ensure you do it. It does help.

I cannot praise the system highly enough. For me it just works. If you commit to it you get results.

Only about 6 weeks to go until the lady herself is on our screens!

    Hello Paul,

Thanks for commenting. It’s coming along slow and sure now. I agree with you about getting the finishes right. I’ve had two major indulges so far and that’s a good steel bath and a very heavy duty invisible framed shower screen. Quality is important…well, it’s what the first letter in QVC stands for! I’ve come to appreciate how much of a difference it can make.

I hope you’re well & looking forward to the festive period.

    Hi Jayyar,

Oooh, I wish I knew…I wear different ones all the time. I’ve tried to work it out and the most likely is a colour lipgloss from Tarte cosmetics. Have a look for their products on our website as I’ve been wearing those lots. They have a great colour to them but are extra glossy.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help than that but you can’t go wrong with Tarte glosses.

Wow, sounds like you’ve really been through it with your weight journey, too. Really pleased to hear you’ve found the right balance for your life and are maintaining it. I think that’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned. Changing for life instead of just for the Christmas party dress etc.

    Dear Jacqueline,

Thank you for writing to me to express your views regarding the Daily Mirror article. I feel very saddened to think it has made you feel ‘cheated’ and that you feel my comments were crass. It was certainly never my intention to offend anyone.

I can assure you I wasn’t saying I was embarrassed to be a specific size as I havent ever really been bothered by the number in my clothes or on my scales either. I was uncomfortable at how out of shape I was and didn’t feel good in myself due to being so unhealthy. I just didn’t feel great when I was at my biggest. I think everyone is entitled to their feelings about how their size makes them feel, me included. If I had been a very healthy and fit size 16 I’m sure I’d have felt differently. There have also been times when I was a very unhealthy size 6 and I didn’t feel good then, either.

I’m feeling great now as I’m hoping to be around longer for my family by making healthy choices and also my body is healthier inside and out, that makes me feel a lot better. There were a lot of other things I said which were left out of the article about the healthy aspect but I don’t blame the journalist as her piece was about getting party dress ready so she utilised the information I gave her in a way which suited her story.

Your nurse is quite right. I agree. That’s what I’m doing with this plan. I’m eating balanced meals, exercising and cutting out a lot of the more toxic foods. Everyone will find what’s right for themselves. I’ve tried lots but this feels right for me and, best of all, I took it along to my doctor at an annual overall health check right at the start of the plan and she approved and said my health should improve considerably if I made the changes in the book. For me, it’s definitely been the case.

I thank you for saying you like me as a presenter. I try my best and I genuinely wouldn’t ever knowingly cause offence. In my opinion what’s on the inside is much more important than the outside both in character and health.

Anyway, I just felt I wanted to reply. I hope you are well & happy.
