I’m off to Spain for a break from the decorating!

15

Hi there,

I hope you enjoyed our Spring Fashion Day last week. There were some fabulous shows packed with great looks for the new season. I particularly enjoyed catching up with Simon Wilson; I hadn't seen him since early December as he's been away seeking inspiration for his new range.

Speaking of going away, I'm off to catch a little winter sunshine in Spain – I need a break after all the decorating, and it's still not quite finished!

The lounge looks really good, although I chickened out of doing a whole wall red and just picked out the chimney-breast instead. I made up for it by buying some red curtains; it's a shame they need shortening otherwise they could've gone straight up. Incidentally, my tip for shortening ready-made curtains is to cut the tops off and re-stitch the header tape. That way you keep a nice professional finish on the hem, particularly on lined curtains.

So there's a job waiting for me when I get back! And there's also Sophie's room to decorate, thankfully the last one to do. It's currently a deep shade of purple, so we'll have to decide what we're going to do with it.

It's a shame I'm away this week as I'll be missing the Pilates shows, but I'll be doing my mat workout on holiday – honestly!

I'll try and send you a message from Spain on my cute Samsung notebook, if I can find a wireless hot spot. And if not, I'll see you all on March 5th.

Have a great week,
Love,
Julia. xx.

Hi girls, I’m back!! Eileen I hope you had a great weekend in Donegal?? I haven’t been to Ireland since I shot a Harp Lager commercial in Dublin when I was pregnant with Daniel – thankfully I wasn’t required to inbibe!! Margaret I would like to say Spain was wall to wall sunshine, but I would be fibbing!! We did have some good weather but finished up with 2 days of heavy rain!!At least it wasn’t snowing! I have a friend who lives Ratjada in the North East of Majorca – it’s beautiful. Where did you stay??

    Hi Julia
Having sold properties in Spain some years ago, I could have told you that this time of year is not always the best for weather – April May is usually better, not too hot and last of the chilly nights. I have lost count of the soggy weekends in February in Alicante I have spent !
I note in your Valentines blog that you refer to your “partner” Chris; – being 10 years old than you Julia, I’m from the generation that cant get their heads around this “partner” terminology ! Partner is for business, or dancing. I am starting to sound like my mum but at least with boyfriend, fiancee, or, even, live in lover you knew where you were !

    Hi Julia
I enjoyed watching the accessories by Kipling show on Thurs 5th. You were wearing a fab silver bracelet, was it purchased from QVC?

Hi Julia, we went to Palma Nova it was nice and quiet at this time of year, hotel was very good and can you believe they put us on the 9th floor but the views were fab. Nice to see you back , I must admit to ordering yet another KVZ bag , only thing for it is to build an extension to hold all my handbags , I even bought one from my hols.Margaretxx

I’ve just bought a Kipling bag as a laptop bag for the gret little Samsung notebook!! Much more stylish that a boring black bag.

Hi girls well I’ve been back less than a week and I can hardly remember being away! Margaret you are forgiven the slip with my name just this once!! Not sure which coast Palma Nova is on? I took the children to Alcudia about 14 years ago round about this time of year and it was lovely and sunny, if a little cool in the evenings. Glad you got another KVZ bag – they are rather gorgeous aren’t they? Hi Linda – I know Spain can be a bit variable at this time of year, sometimes we’re luckier than others! Re calling Chris my ‘partner’ – he is my life partner. Boyfriend doesn’t sound very permanant for someone you’ve spent the last 31 years with, he’s not my fiance cos we’re not planning on getting married and live-in lover………………? No, for me life partner is the most comfortable description. Kathryn I’m glad you enjoyed the Kipling show – obviously Trixie did as well – great idea for the samsung notebook cos the bags weigh so little! The bangle I was wearing during that show is the Silver Day TSV – I’ll be launching it Saturday night at midnight so come through for a chat Kathryn.

Hi Julia, wow, it WORKED ! (Wonders will never cease, ha ha !)
I saved this link & was just clearing ‘stuff’ out (as one does sometimes, ahem) & saw your message.
Hope you & your family are well.
I don’t watch QVC as much as I once did (which helps my bank balance, I have to say) but I watch the Northern Nights & Cook’s Essential hours if I can.
    Tara 4 now.
    Best wishes
    Janice

Hey, this is fun, we all feel we know you, Julia.
Just meant to ask you if you know how Katie John is these days as Googling doesn’t help me. I used to speak with her a lot (on the show live) & she used to send me letters & that was wonderful. I was sad when she left, she certainly was one funny lady.
Can you remember (HOW COULD YOU FORGET) singing The Locomotion & Partyland with Mungo Jerry & it was available to QVC customers who bought another CD set ? Well, I have it on right now & I recognise your voice. (I’m sure I videod you all on QVC singing The Locomotion so I must look that out sometime). It was a fun time when QVC sold CDs with Debbie & Tony Blackburn. They should never have stopped that.
Well, my husband of 38 yrs, Chris, is shouting ‘ARE we going to Asda THEN ? Get OFF that computer !!’ so I’d better go or … shall I just give him the list, seems like a great idea that.

Hello Gary and Janice – just found your post Gary ( only a month late replying ) – thanks for the compliment, yes I had been in Spain. With the weather we’ve had here lately I wish I’d stayed there!
Hi Janice – there’ll be no stopping you now!! I can’t believe you still have that CD and were actually playing it – not sure where my copy is, probably propping up a table leg somewhere. It was such great fun to do. I had kept in touch with Katy until fairly recently, I think she is still singing and presenting. I also met up with Debbie Flint for coffee earlier in the year, and I chat with Paul Lavers quite frequently – we had some great laughs didn’t we. My other half, also Chris, has just got in from Waitrose ………. I hope you just gave him the list!
    keep in touch
