I’m back!

I’m back,  and with letters after my name… well my ankle at least! ATFL,CFL,PTFL… who would have thought the little old ankle had so much going on inside of it, but then again when you consider the job it does… it becomes clear its a very important little thing, I for one shall be respecting it a whole lot more in future.

Just to quickly get you up to speed, the initials are of ligaments and with a full rupture of one and damage to others along with an achilles strain I have heard on a number of occasions the phrase “you would have been so much better off breaking it…”

The good news is, I behaved and did what I was told (what a rarity) so it has begun to recover well hence being allowed back to work… at last. Lots of physiotherapy ahead to regain mobility and strength, both of which are missing entirely and completely vital in order to prevent further injury. It  seems a return to netball will be someway off, if at all. And whilst I was never lucky enough to have a perfect pointe in my professional dancing career, lets just say a kipper in a ballet shoe springs to mind… boo hoo…

Claire Sutton

Whilst many of you may think crikey she’s been off gallivanting on a rather long holiday as its been six weeks, six long weeks… yes it has been  broken up with some R&R with a few days escape to Suffolk and then a week in Turkey.

It was totally liberating leaving the house as for four weeks aside from a couple of little escorted trips out for coffee I had been stir crazy home alone… It was an altogether different visit than the norm as just a hobble to the beach was all I could manage so our visit to Aldeborough felt sedate and gentle but as ever wonderful to be there and a change of four walls was good for the soul.

Turkey was also very relaxed  and luckily the hotel was lovely so the only moves required were from the sunbed to the pool to cool down as the temperatures were mid 30’s from morning to night.

Foam party

We met friends who had already spent a week there and so the children had a wonderful time together. Tom as always made friends and ended up behind one of the bars serving drinks as the bar staff took a shine to him!

Tom at bar

Luckily his job was the soft drinks and not the cocktails! He looked very at home there and a little “work experience” in hospitality will not go amiss. Funnily enough even though he is such a grown up young man in so many ways he is so untainted by what he should be or be doing, his delight was evident (as you can see  in the picture) when the kids club came round dressed as Kung Fu Panda characters and he loved joining in with all the games.

Kung Fu Panda

I am definitely returning to your screens a little fuller than before after six weeks of doing nothing and an “all inclusive” week in Turkey thrown in! Hopefully it will disappear soon once I can build up to a walk with Gus once again, I miss my walks with my gorgeous boy.

Palm trees

I was approached by a lovely viewer holidaying with her family, I missed getting a picture with her which was a shame but spotted her by the pool with an Elemis beach bag! We chatted about our mutual love of our beauty at QVC and of course discussed the virtues of Ultrasun (Abby would have been proud).

Family pic

What with such high temperatures I did an extra application over and above the once a day resulting in no burning, or rashes, though I forgot the children are all getting much bigger and so I could have done with a third one as I was a little panicky that we may run out! I used Swimcap every day from Philip Kingsley and am sure it helped with the condition of my hair, along with the shampoo and conditioner for silver hair (again good to neutralise the brassy tones).

So hopefully I will look OK when you see me and not a frazzled overcooked version!

I am back on Tuesday 16th but with the job of Guest Auditions, it’s so important to make sure our guests are as knowledgable about their products as they can be, so it will be a full on return! Wednesday and then Friday I will be on air with you all so I really hope you can give me a wave so to speak!

It will be on at 12pm with Quacker and the Lunchtime Show at 1pm on the 17th

The Morning Show on Friday, 10am is Molton Brown and then Skechers at 12. I shall certainly be looking at all the styles with fresh eyes as the heels will be a long time off I’ve been told!

On the 22nd, l shall be with lovely Evey with Join at 11am and The Lunchtime Show at 1pm

And on the 23rd, The Lunchtime Show at 1pm, Adesso at 2pm and at 4pm Home Selection.

I’m hoping to be okay standing, but forgive me if for a while I am “sitting down on the job”.

I cannot wait and am super excited. Don’t forget to shout hello to me!

Lots of love as ever, Claire xxxxxx

So glad your recovery is going ok but be warned – my husband did the same thing last year, rushed back, aggravated the injury and spent another month with his feet up. I might have thought it was deliberate but for his frustration and boredom!!

Hi Claire pleased you are recovering well. I can relate to the “cabin fever” as am currently non weight bearing due to a fractured ankle. I have some impressive metalwork apparently. Keep up the good work with the physio, hopefully I wont be far behind you!

Hi Judy, after working and driving this week I was shocked at how much more it hurt – but physio today and she’s pleased with recovery so far- tendinitis concern in Achilles so lots more excercises !! It’s weird though as I’m arriving home and then putting my feet up like lady muck !! Poor Dan !!! Hope your husbands gets fully better ( for your sake too!!!!) x

Lovely to see you back on air this week, you have been missed with your bubbly personality. Hope the ankle is improving and you are resting it! I see you visit Aldeburgh regularly. It is a lovely place and I used to work in The Wentworth Hotel there as a Receptionist. A few years ago now! Lovely pics of you and the family, I can’t believe how much they have all grown, I can remember when you were pregnant with Maddie. She looks so much like you too. Hope the ankle improves and look forward to seeing you again soon on tv. Xx

How did you get seen so quickly with the Physio by the way? Or did you have to go private? I know I’ve had to go private as lists are so long! Enjoy your being back x

Hi Susan , yes privately – I’ve been very luckily to be able to be seen so swiftly on my ankle journey – it does help so . It’s annoying now that I can walk minus a limp I’m in great danger of doing too much or being on it too much .. Like yesterday I was walking my father in law carefully around the car show .. Home to ice packs and elevation and … Pain killers!!!! Lovely to hear from you – I’ll see you on Qvc later !! Xx
