I will win!

Debbie GreenwoodLike all my other friends and colleagues who attended the Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show on Wednesday evening I wanted to congratulate all the models, especially our lovely Ali K, on their wonderful achievement of appearing in the show after the trauma of what had undoubtedly gone before for each and every one of them.

It was, as it always is, inspirational.

The evening was hosted by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman and had guest appearances from many well known TV personalities including Barbara Windsor and Vanessa Feltz, not to mention a heartfelt speech from our own Debbie Greenwood.

Jonathon AnsellThere were also performances from Gerri Halliwell and former G4 singing sensation Jonathan Ansell, and it was something he said just prior to his performance of Nessun Dorma that truly touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye.

He explained that the final line of Nessun Dorma in Italian "Vincero, Vincero, Vincero" translates to "I will win, I will win, I will win". How appropriate and inspiring for anyone battling cancer.

For the record, he performed it beautifully.

See you later

Much love Julia xx

Yes you are right in saying that the Models should be congratulated, especially Ali K, she has gone through so much, she is now looking great, and may she continue to be free of Cancer. My sister-in-law has just been diagnosed with the breast/lung cancer. It is wicked isnt it. The line in the song “I will win is great and hopefully will inspire the ones that are suffering at the moment. With regard to the Labrador blackberry pickers, when we do get a chance I will take a photograph of them and send it on to you. Looking forward to the book.
    Have a great weekend.
    Love Jean x

    Hello Jean
I am so sorry to hear about your sister in law – that is the same type of cancer that Amica is experiencing. We went to her church service yesterday, where she gave a speech about her own personal battle with the disease – it was very emotional.
I had a lovely weekend thanks, particularly as my football team won ….. again!
Do send me a picture of your blackberry pickers!!!

    Hi Julia
Saw Ali K and Amica modelling on This Morning, they both did brilliantly well, but I was sad to hear that Amica has to have even more treatment. Lots of hugs and positive thoughts are going Amica’s way…just when you think you’ve turned a corner, it comes and bites you on the ‘btm’!
Since speaking last I’ve had my Carpal Tunnel test, which was quite painful, especially the needles in the arm muscles…you should have seen my face when he mentioned needles, I said “how big are they first?!”. Anyway he said I’d done very well, as most people can’t take it. The funny thing was, that when I came out, Chris was talking to a Dr who was also having the test and he was frightened to death lol! My left hand is very severe and there is some in my right too!
Saw the Consultant’s Nurse last week and she said it really needs to be done, so will be going ahead with the left one first. Not looking forward to it at all as it’s done under local and I don’t really want to know what’s going on at the time so I’m taking my Sansa with me and listening to some music.
What I also didn’t mention last time was that my leg had played up yet again…I was hobbling around, so the Dr is writing to the Consultant, for me to have the metal work out…like I said before, you think you’ve turned the corner…
Here’s something that hopefully will make you smile…I found a new Dentist, who is brilliant. I have a habit of clenching my teeth at night and I get face and jaw pain in the morning and no, it’s not Chris, only joking! Apparently my jaw is slightly out, so I now have a mouthguard to wear! Starting to get the picture…by the time they’ve finished with me, mouthguard and wrist braces, I’ll end up looking like ‘Mike Tyson’ in bed! Lets hope I don’t start boxing in my sleep lol!!!
Nice to see you back on air, I noticed the Markon’s out again, best boots ever!

Hi julia, sorry to hear the househunting is not going well. You asked me my thoughts on ‘suitable’ or ‘dream home’well…….. Im probably not the best person to answer that question!!!as it took us FIVE YEARS !!! to find our current house. We had almost given up after looking at many houses in this area, but one day just by chance I walked past an estate agents window as they where putting this house on the market. I phoned hubby and said come home now we are off to see this house!!!It was by no means perfect,it was a bit of a wreck to say the least (one room had gloss red painted walls and a bright green carpet, NICE!!)but here we are twenty seven years later, still here. I think you have to follow your heart and your instincts, otherwise you won’t be happy, will you!!! P.S A house just up the hill from me has just hit the market that would be a dream house for anyone, interested??? OK have you got a spare EIGHT MILLION POUNDS!!!!I could buy a whole village for that!!!) best wishes Yvie x

    Hi Annette,
Sorry to hear your health issues just seem to go on and on but at least they seem to be getting to the bottom of some of them now? I know what you mean about needles. I used to go to an acupuncturist a couple of years ago and initially he could only use the ‘baby’ needles on me that they use on children. My advice is close your eyes ….. if you can’t see what’s going on it’s much better …….. I’m like that with blood tests!!
Both Ali K and Amica will be with us for the BCC show on Wednesday ( 6 – 9pm ) so I will give them your best wishes

    Hi Yvie
I think I’ll have to pass on the 8 million pound home!!!!!!!
I’m not too stressed about finding a new home, I feel confident that something will come along eventually.
Talking about awful decor, the first flat Chris and I found together had a shower room painted in bright blue GLOSS paint – nice!
    speak soon

    Hi Carole
I’m just about to head into work for a production meeting for the BCC show on Wednesday … I will do a blog tonight and give you a heads up on a few of the things to expect.
I’m with you, I always try and buy something as both my Mum and sister have battled this illness.

    Hi Julia,
I read your blog from time to time, and I am sad to read about Amica. She has always been one of my favourite models on QVC. I was so chuffed to see her back on tele, and she looks so well. Please tell her that she was in my prayers before, and I will be praying for her again. Please also send her hugs from me.
